    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys. I'm Ryan from, and this is my review of the RedRock 4x4 Rocker Guards, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs.RedRock 4X4 offers these for both two-door and four-door Wranglers. These rocker guards are for those of you who have a factory side step and are looking for something a little stronger for off-roading, or are looking for a step that is high and tight up against the body, and does a good job of hiding the pinch seam. These are going to be stronger than those factory side steps or tubular steps, but they're not quite as strong as frame mounted armor. So, if you're doing light to moderate wheeling, these are going to be a good option for you. The nice thing is that they're also priced accordingly, so they're going to save you a little bit of money over more stout armor. These are built with tubular steel that is 0.12 inch wall thickness, and 1.75 inches diameter. You can tell when you look at the welds and especially when you pick these up, that they're built strong. The four-door weigh in at 72 pounds, and the two-door at 53 pounds. And they're both finished off with a textured black powder coat that is both corrosion and rust-resistant. These rocker guards you'll install just like a factory side step, to the pinch seam and the underside of the tub, so there's no drilling necessary. They're completely bolt-on. As far as tools, you'll need a set of sockets and all the hardware necessary is included in the box. The entire install will take about two hours from start to finish. These are really well priced for what you get. They're definitely more affordable than some of the stronger frame mounted armor, and they still offer a great step. All in all, this is a solid product at an affordable place. I'd recommend these rocker guards for anyone who needs some additional protection for light to moderate wheeling, is looking for a useful step and wants something that looks good and covers that pinch seam. You get all of that at an affordable cost, and an easy bolt-on installation.Remember, if you do some more serious off-roading, you'll want to look at some of our stronger frame mounted armor. So, that's my review of the RedRock 4X4 Rocker Guards, for both the two-door and four-door JKs that you can find right here at

Aggressive Off-Road Styling. RedRock 4x4 Rocker Guard gives your 4-door JK Wrangler an aggressive off-road appearance while providing practical undercarriage and side protection from brush and other trail hazards.

Easy, Bolt-on Installation. The RedRock 4x4 Wrangler Rocker Guard is engineered to be a direct bolt-on upgrade using just basic hand tools, so there is no drilling or cutting required for a clean straight forward installation.

        5 Top Rated Questions

Do these weight 53 pounds each or 53 pounds together?

        • That is the total weight of both rocker guards.

Are there end caps on or are the ends open?

        • The ends are not open and are just part of the bar itself. If you take a look at the install video on the product page here, right around 3:55 you will get a good shot at that piece of the piping.

I'm planning on ordering these rocker Guard along with a rugged ridge tube front bumper (J15648) and a smittybuilt rear bumper (J17266). How well do the textured black finishes match up?

        • Hello, the textured black finishes should be very similar, but since you are getting different brands, we wouldn't be able to guarantee you they would match up 100%.

Do they flex and hit the body. And will they hold up to light rock crawling

        • The RedRock 4x4 Rocker Guard will not hit the body in normal use, however if hit hard enough they may bend which could possible cause them to contact the body.

            Great price ang great looking

These meet my needs, good looking and functional. Took about 2 hours to install. Jeep didn’t have the threaded holes as video shows, but the install kit has pieces to help. It’s ipa pain to set them, but once in works great.

Not bad! Good bang for your buck

received the rock sliders with a little scrape. Good response time with CS and making it right. Instructions were written by a baboon, might as well throw it away. Lots of hardware not needed. Had to watch a different video for install a few times to figure the hardware pieces. No help needed other than a chair to hold and line up the ends while bolting it underneath. We'll see if this holds up on the trail.

Easy install and looks great. They’re made of good quality, serve as great protection and a decent step. I definitely like how they hide the pinch seam so well.

            Looks Great

Shipped quick via freight. Bolt on installation. Recommend using a hydraulic floor jack to hold and finagle into perfect fitment. Had to slightly bend one edge of the mounting bracket. Product looks awesome. Very pleased.

            Very nice.

Some of the powder coating had been scratched off in a couple places from shipping, but overall they're pretty solid and look great on the Jeep.

To date the only "bad" experience with Extreme Terrain. One of the guards was damaged - there was a pretty big gouge I noticed after I took the protective plastic off. Unfortunately, I already had one installed and have plans to go out early this morning. The instructions both on paper and on-line were less than adequate. Once I was able to visualize how the bolt holes lined up with the jeep holes it was fairly apparent what needed to happen. Of course a half a dozen extra bolts/nuts/washers (I assume for another application) in the kit just added to the initial confusion. After a good 20 minutes of trying to figure the parts out, the install went quick. Did it alone with the help of two jack-stands. Took less than an hour - not including the initial 20 minutes of confusion.

They work, but don’t fit 37’s

Like the title says they’ll need to be cut to fit 37’s, my passenger side front has pushed up to my rocker panel but no damage. Definitely good for a light duty Jeep on 35’s, if you plan on using them heavily I would try a different rocker guard

            Sliders not steps

These are great for what they are made for. If you are looking for a step get something else. These took a decent beating and didn’t even chip. They are heavy I installed myself I used my gas can to hold up one end while I bolted the other end on. Took me about 90 mins. They are heavy about 35lbs each. They feel solid. Will update after I beat them up some more.
