Now, this will offer complete sun protection for the top of your Jeep while still allowing you to have an open-air driving experience and seal to the front with the windshield header in comparison to most bikini tops.Now, this will also make it a good choice for the JL owner who wants solid protection from UV rays for both themselves and their interior in comparison to some other solutions. Now, this will be made of a durable black diamond vinyl material, very similar to the factory soft top, and will cover both the front and the rear seats.Now, this will also have multiple heavy-duty straps around the top to prevent it from flopping around in the wind. It's gonna seal to the front of the Jeep or the windshield of the Jeep with the windshield header that's included in the kits that I personally do really like, and this is also going to be super easy to install.Now, talking a little bit about the windshield header here, a lot of other bikini top or safari-style tops will not usually include the windshield header in the kit. I really do like the fact that this is an inclusive kit. It leaves you not having to question where or what windshield header that you have to buy.Now, this is a snap in style. It's gonna be durable made of a steel material and it's also gonna have a nice black powder coat finish, so it will hold up very well to the elements. Now, with all of that being said, this will also be an affordable solution for sun protection at roughly $175. Now, when taking a look at some other solutions, some other tops may not offer the coverage that you're looking for, including a mesh material unlike this option, which is going to be opaque, and then some don't completely block the sun for both the front and rear seats, it's usually just for the front seats.Now, there are other premium choices that may have small differences in the designs like different style straps or they may be a heavier weight material. But if you're looking to keep it easy and to the point and you're also looking for one that includes a windshield header, then this is definitely going to be the kit for you.Now, as far as install is concerned, this is gonna come in at one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about 10 minutes to get this onto your Jeep.Now, that's gonna wrap it up for me. I'm going to hand you over to one of our guys in the shop. They're gonna show you a detailed breakdown on how to get this onto your JL. So let's get into the install.Man: The tools you'll need for this install are a 6-millimeter Allen socket, a 3/8 ratchet, and a short 3/8 extension. Hey, today we're gonna be installing a soft top on our 2018 Jeep. Let's get started.The first step is to take the front two roof panels off. So let's head inside the cockpit, and we'll go and unclamp those two panels. The first step to unlock our roof panels is to pull the clamp farthest to the passenger side down, and then we're gonna go ahead and do the same thing on the driver's side. Next, you can go ahead and spin the two clamps in the center, and then we just have to move to the back of the panels.Then we have one clamp on the back side, on the driver's side, and then an identical one on the passenger side, and then two in the center. Now that we have our two roof panels unclamped, we can go ahead and lift them off the top of the vehicle. I'm just gonna grab, reach my hand in, slide it out, and carry that one away. Once you have this side off, you can go ahead and do the same thing on the other side.Now we're ready to go ahead and pull the rear portion of the hard top up. Before we undo any bolts, what we're gonna do is go to the driver's side rear and undo two plugs there. Then there are six T-50 torques bolts around the base of the hard top and then two more of those torques bolts up on top.So here we are at the driver's side rear of the hard top, and we got these two plugs here. This one is for the power to the windshield wiper on the back glass, and this is the hose for the windshield washer fluid that goes to the back glass. We're gonna start by pulling this larger plug here and pull the red safety release tab down, pull the plug off, and then I'm gonna push this chrome tab down on the hose, pull it off. And now we're ready to start taking the bolts out.So to take this first bolt out, it's a T-50. Here I have my T-50 Torx bolt on an impact. I'm gonna pull that out. Then we can move on to the other two farther back than that, doing the same thing. Pulling that guy out. And then one more all the way in the back. This one might be a little tough to reach.Now that we have all those bolts out of the driver's side, we can go ahead and do the exact same thing on the passenger side. Now we're ready to take the two bolts up off the top of the hard top like I had said earlier. Do the same T-50, there's one on the driver and one on the passenger side. Go ahead and pull that out. And now we can go ahead and do the same thing on the driver side.Now that we have the hard top fully unsecured, we can go ahead and grab a friend and lift this off. And be really careful to scratch the paint in the vehicle. And there is a roll bar in there, so what we're gonna do is back out first away from the roll bar and then carry it off.So getting this install started, the first thing we're gonna do is take this beam. Now, this guy is gonna span across the windshield and we're gonna tuck it into this pocket across the front with this outer lip facing forward. So we can go ahead and just tuck that under here. It might be a little bit of a stretch just to get it in. There is some tension on it. Should slide in fairly easily, just like that.Now that these buttons are cross, what we're gonna go ahead and do is button them all the way across this beam and then we can go ahead and put the soft top on top of the Jeep. So I've got these soft top over the windshield and I've got this beam right here, right across. And there's these pins that come down and there's these little holes that these can line up to from the existing trim. So we're gonna line these up and then put some bolts in through the bottom.So I'm gonna use one of these long 6-millimeter Allen bolts on both sides as well as a rounded washer. This washer's gonna sit really nicely in that little groove in there. So I'm gonna put my bolt through the washer. And there's a hole up on the inside of the roof. So I'm using my hand to kind of pull this down, get it lined up so we can reach the threads.Now that we've got that bolt started, I'm gonna be using my 6-millimeter Allen socket and a 3/8 extension just so my hand has some room here. I'm not gonna be hitting the trim with my 3/8 ratchet. I'm gonna start tightening that down. I'm just gonna compress it a little bit just to snug it up. We don't wanna start having this beam tilt back towards us. Nice and stiff, we're gonna go ahead and do this on the other side.So now that our beam is secured up front, we can go ahead and just throw the soft top over the back of the vehicle. So I'm just gonna pull it, kind of toss it over, like that. Now you'll notice we have all these Velcro straps around the side. We're gonna wanna do these first before we fasten the rear and pull it tight. So I'm gonna start with these loops here at the front like that. And then these, probably pull this back a little bit, and these are gonna go around the inside of the B pillar.So I'm reaching around, securing them to each other inside. I have to look them around each other. I've got one more at the back here. Pass that around. Now you can go ahead and tighten these Velcro straps around the other side. Then here at the rear, we have these two straps and this guy, this little pin here.We're gonna start with the first strap, and it kind of hangs down like this. We're gonna pass it around the back of the roll bar, up and around. And then the first hold that you can see, I'm gonna put it up through like that. And then there's another one after it. It's gonna go back down and through like this. And now I can pull and this tightens. I'm not gonna tighten it all the way right now because we're not ready to really crank down on that yet because we still have this pin.So this pin is gonna go in this body hole here, put it in the hole. And it has a tendency to kind of walk out if you don't keep it held in there while you tighten it. So what I'm gonna do is tighten this down like that and get some tension across the roof. And then I'm gonna do the same thing to here, get some tension across the roof and the other way like that. And then once they're secure, you can go ahead and do this same thing on the other side.That was the California Brief Soft Top-Black Diamond for the 2018 and newer Jeep Wrangler JL 2-door.
