    Ask a Question

Does the powder coat finish on the barricade rocker guards and corners guards match the finish on the metal cloak fenders?

    DaveB

    • Both the Barricade and Metal Cloaks fenders are matte, but the Barricade rocker guards would have more of a textured looked compared to the Metal Cloak fenders.

Are these strong enough to stand on while getting in the Jeep

    GeorgeC

    • Absolutely, built very heavy and bolts up to two body mounts plus 5 side rocker screws.

Should these be bolted directly to the body or should a rubber pad be put between the body and guard when installing?

    NateS

Should these be bolted directly to the body or should a rubber pad (or something) be put behind it? Thanks

Will this fit YJs? Specifically a 95?

    Jesse

On the mini flares when I took them off there is still the anchors the screws screwed into. They are not flush with the body. Do I need to take them off as well and if I do take them off how do I do it?

Review from Barricade Rocker Guard with Step (87-95 Wrangler YJ)

      Have some spray paint ready.

The coating of the product combined with the way it’s packaged will lead into damage of the paint pretty good. Otherwise it looks okay. We shall see how it holds up.

2004 Jeep Wrangler Sport Installed these

These are heavy duty. I like the look. The welds are good and the paint job is good. The video on the store page for these is very helpful in order to do the install. I did do it by myself with the use of jack stands to hold in in position. I didn't have much trouble removing the body bolts, however, mine were rusted pretty good and I went ahead an replaced them with 4" long 1/2-13 stainless steel hex head bolts and a stainless steel washer. Also, the body mount bolt closest to the front wheel should be removed and will need a space behind it (i used 5 stainless washers) because there will still be a gap at the frame even when you tighten it back down. I also ordered new body mount bushing as mine were deteriorated. Aside from some minor issues, the install was straight forward with just a bit of jockeying things around to get the correct fit. The flat head screws that came with it are okay however the one closest to the rear wheel well needs to be longer as there is a "bulge" in the interior where this holes goes through that does get in the way. I was able to open up the hole a little bigger and get the nut on the bolt but its really not the best way. Either that or if the manufacturer could move the last hole closest to the rear wheel well oh-so-little forward of its current position it would be perfect. I am please with the look and do recommend these rock sliders. It would be a good idea to set aside an afternoon to work on this with a friend.

These were pretty stout guards. They fit just like I imaged, and I half way look forward to breaking them in...

      Barricade Rocker Guard Step.

I bought these rocker guard with step and body protection, for my 2002 TJ . Installed in about 4 including allowing WD40 to penetrate into body bolts.

The Rocker Gaurd for Your YJ

This was by far the best investment for (2) reasons, 1. The installation took just two hours and you can do it without help. 2. Besides the obvious improvement in looks, it it is built to last and protect your ride for years to come. Gary M

      Great product; install challanging

The rock sliders with step look great and were manufactured well. The install on my 2006 Rubicon was very time-consuming, all day including removal of the factory rocker panel diamond plate, drilling holes through the tub, etc. The real problem was that after the install, I could not shift into 2nd, 4th, or reverse because mounting the rock sliders raised the body about a half inch (3/16ths rock slider mounting tab thickness plus about that much again because the curved top of the body mounts nest into a curved recess in the frame, whereas the rock slider mounting tabs are flat), creating interference between the shift lever and the shift tunnel. Had to remove all the body mounts, grind them down 1/2 inch, then reinstall to correct the problem. A set of instructions would be useful (there were none) along with a warning that re-working the body mounts might be required, depending on the lift already on the TJ. (Mine has a 4" lift, to accommodate 35s.)

I guess this is what you get for $200

It should only take a hour to install rock sliders, but considering thees have the poorest template cut out for them you will have to cut them a lot to make them fit properly. My buddy Mike and I were sitting there with a grinder cutting the sliders farther and farther back surprised at how much we had to take off. Not to mention they rust as soon as moisture touches them and the powder coat flakes off like it was just pasted on. The metal is good though so nothing you can't sand down and respray. Would I buy them again? Probably not, but for 200 dollars how much can I really complain.

      Nice rocker guard

It took me a couple of hours to install these, very easy. Good rocker guard and pretty heavy duty. I personally would have like to see it come with black bolts to match the rocker guard. Overall pretty happy with the purchase.
