    love this hoist

    this hoist was easy for two people to install. I've had my top on it for a month now and the crank has not moved an inch. don't know how easy it is to put the top back on...may never!!!

    does the back window have to open or "up".

    I have an 7'1" ceiling in my garage. I realize the min height says 7' but is that a "real" 7'? Any caveats with such short clearance?

    • Hello! The reason that the minimum height is set at 7' is because anything less than that, you would not have enough clearance to get your top off of your jeep. That height is truly 7', so with your 7'1" ceiling you will have enough clearance to get your top off without any issues at all.

      Convenient storage option

      The crank hoist-a-top allowed me to take advantage of the storage capability in my garage. The hardtop is up and out of the way. I'll be able to retro fit it for the winter storage of my soft top. It was simple to install and worked as advertised. However, my 8ft ceiling made the angle on the return cable from the ceiling to the crank too sharp and it touched the hardtop. I had to install a 2nd pulley I purchased from Lange or else the cable would have scratched the hardtop. A simple fix of a problem that was not mentioned in the directions. I could not have been the first person to have this problem. Glad I purchased the Lange Crank hoist-a-top!!

      love this hoist

      Great product. online video to set up was very helpful. took about two hours to set up, but worth every min. this hoist will have your jeep top off in min's.

      Great idea, quality is questionable

      I purchased this product, fit seems great, install went great. The manual crank function is on the cheap side. Worm drive or gear is very cheap, must be a cheap aluminum and it scraps and is wearing badly the first time I lifted the top. I will have to go out and buy a replacement. Something that is a higher quality.

      Finally! I can take top off myself!

      I probably over researched this and other brands of Jeep hard top hoists and storages. I'm 63 year's young, own a 4 door Rubicon and haven't had the top off for 2 years. It takes 2 to remove, no problem, but then where to store it? My husband installed this hoist by himself in about 1 hour. I love it! He did have to install an eye hook on the wall so the rope didn't rub the top.

      Makes it easy

      A couple hours to set up and the top was off in less than 3 hours. Comes with a dvd that is helpful. The ceiling mounted pulley is held up with 2 drywall screws in a stud. I screwed in an extra large eye screw and ran the line through it before installing the pulley.

      Easy to install and easy to use

      When I bought this, I was expecting to spent all day installing it. It only took a couple hours. Once installed, taking the top off only takes about twenty minutes and it's a one person job. Putting the top back on takes about the same amount of time.

      Easy install works great

      I bought the crank version of this hoist after a lot of online research and talking with other Jeep owners. This version was the one recommended and I've been very happy with it. Instructions for install are easy to follow and include a DVD to walk through it. It makes it easy to take the top off by myself.
