Review & Install Video

Hey guys, Kevin Tetz for ExtremeTerrain.com. The factory side steps for our '07 to '15 JKs and Wranglers leave a lot to be desired when it comes to durability and strength, and if you're ever thinking about doing some hard-core wheeling or off-roading with your vehicle, you really want to consider upgrading your side and body protection to a set of rock rails, like these from Barricade. These are a heavy-duty stainless construction, a two-stage powder coat, and are very strong. They utilize factory body mounts and mount underneath the rocker panels. Now we've heard a couple rumblings about these because they drop down and they expose this factory pinch weld, and some people think it might not look as great as it could, but for me, it's a compromise that's absolutely worth it because we have trail-tested these suckers. We have rode some giant boulders and rocks with these rock rails and they will protect your Jeep, and I can guarantee that we've done it. So, for me, it's worth it. Besides, a can of rattle can paint and you can enhance that a little bit, and it's one of those things that you just sort of take in stride. Now, a couple of buddies and some simple hand tools, you can have these things installed in about a half an hour a side. So it's a great upgrade, they're cost-effective, and they work. If you're ever thinking about increasing your side protection and your protection from obstacles on your chassis, you really want to consider these Barricade rock rails.

Dual Function. Barricade Off-Road Rock Sliders will give your 4-door JK Wrangler a rugged off-road appearance while providing practical side and undercarriage protection from brush, rocks and other trail hazards. Plus these Barricade Off-Road Rock Sliders also double as a convenient step for easy entry into your lifted JK Wrangler.

Heavy Duty Construction. Manufactured from heavy duty 2" diameter (0.12" wall thickness) stainless steel tubing, these Barricade Off-Road Rock Sliders are completed in a durable textured black powder coat finish for aggressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

Easy, Bolt-on Installation. Barricade Off-Road Rock Sliders are engineered to be a direct bolt-on upgrade using just basic hand tools, so there is no drilling or cutting required for a clean straight forward installation.

Application. These Barricade Off-Road Rock Sliders are designed to fit 2007 to 2017 4-door Jeep Wrangler JKs. Includes driver and passenger side. Will work in conjunction with factory Rubicon rails.

    Nice product

Took almost 1 hour to install myself. First slider 40 mins, second 15 mins (once I got the hang of it from the 1st one, 2nd went on super easy). Once installed the driver side slider was squeaking when I drove. I loosened off all 3 bolts and wiggled the slider a few times, I drove around with it loose for about an hour, then tightened up the slider....squeak gone. Not sure what worked to correct its but good now. The sliders are heavy duty and look nice - look rugged compared to side steps. I recommend this product.

Review from Barricade Rock Sliders (07-17 Wrangler JK 2 Door)

Look great but usefulness is lacking

Installed perfect, looks fantastic BUT they don't extend out as much as I had wanted. This results in a very small area for your feet to hit when climbing in and out. Very necessary with the 5" lift I have on mine

Good design, look complete with stock Rubi Rails

These are good looking rock rails that come out just enough to double as a step. They attach to the body mount bolts which make them stronger than others that only mount to the pinch seams with slip on nuts. When removing the body mount bolts it's necessary to apply downward force as you unscrew them. I found it's also necessary to apply downward force while screwing the bolts back in by pulling down on the Barricade slider as you tighten. This prevents the nut from spinning. ( I'm not exactly sure what's going on behind the bolt but it felt as though the nut was free spinning until I maintained downward force to hold it). Aside from the slight issues with reinstalling the body mount bolts it's a simple straight forward install overall. These rock rails can be installed with or without your factory Rubi Rails. If you have Rubi Rails already, these sliders really look complete. My Jeep is a 2017 Willy Wheeler JKU. ET doesn't give me the option yet of selecting 2017 as my year.

Barricade Sliders over OEM Sliders, No issues

First mod to my new Willys...my 6 year old needed some help stepping into the back; this worked. :0) Install on these was very straight forward, with bolt pattern alignment spot on. I did have minor issues with the rear mount point on the driver side bumping the frame when the mount bushing flexed. After a few tries of loosening bolts and adjusting I was able to eliminate the minor noise this caused. Overall these are great, specifically if you have oem rails that you want to keep on. Love that there is no silliness with grinding down washers with this brand. Good look, solid construction and an easy install make these a product I would recommend.

    High quality, fits/looks great!

These are heavily built, not some cheap nerf tube piece of junk. Mine went right on without any problems, took no time at all. They are solid and the mounts fit perfectly. I have done a fair amount of metal fabrication in the past and I know a good piece when I see it, these are good.

Review from Barricade Rock Sliders (07-17 Wrangler JK 2 Door)

    Decent w/Quality Longevity Reservations

Rock Sliders arrived individually lightly bubble wrapped and contained in one large undamaged cardboard shipping box. Unfortunately, two (2) of the Passenger side rivets (Out of 8 total rivets for the Sliders pair, 2 front and 2 back each side) were defective - One (1) was completely missing and one (1) was partially raised from proper seating against the main outside tube. From my viewpoint, there is no way to determine if these defects were a manufacturing or transport problem but given the issues and evidence I would surmise a cause occurring somewhere along the post manufacture line. Extreme Terrain (especially Jennifer K) was unbelievably responsive and supportive in answering post sale questions as well as providing remedy for the product issues. This was my first Extreme order and if the Customer Service I received for this product is typical then I'm sold on ET as a retailer. Thank-you Jennifer! General quality of the Rock Sliders seems solid - Good welds, clean lines and decent, aggressive, sort of semi-gloss texture powder coat appearance. As for the rivet issues - I'm guessing they were put in place for the weld process and don't appear structurally important to the final product integrity but apparently a are somewhat of a weak point cosmetically and perhaps longer term if left missing and water gets into the tubes. Scuff mark near the missing rivet revealing bare metal could suggest the coating is fairly thin and perhaps somewhat fragile. Time will tell if finish holds up to salt ridden Northeast winter roads. Included single page install instruction are labeled "2007-2014 Rock Slider" and very limited - Only three (3) small black and white image panels with brief text. Adequate for experienced experts but could be better. For instance, no mention is made of apparently common difficulty in removing the body mount bolts due to Jeep design where an internal sheet metal retainer can hold the bolts from easy final spin-out removal. Not specifically a Barricade issue but all the bolts on my JK had this issue and would have been helpful for instructions to mention the possibility and suggest remedy. Additionally, no information is given regarding the fact that these Sliders are not symmetrical, that is to say there is a specific Driver side and Passenger side part - They are not interchangeable. Customer is left to sort this out through trial and error or other documentation. Finally, the last panel text indicates bolt torque of "35 ft-lbs" which is actually incorrect - Jennifer quickly confirmed that Chrysler recommends 80 ft-lbs for the body mount bolts and I believe the ET product page online PDF install document is correct. Barricade should add a current Title/Date and obviously correct the torque specification - Easily fixed and not a great first impression. Actual install was fairly straightforward. Having some help would probably be ideal but a box/bucket with a few boards to raise Slider to right height works fine. Large washers integral to the Jeep body bolt fit cleanly w/o modification into the Slider box ends. Careful progressive alternate tighten of the mount bolts seated the Sliders properly. Noticed some slight position on vehicle difference (Driver side was about 1 inch more forward) most likely caused by JK assembly tolerances rather than Sliders - Only really noticeable to perfectionist. Overall, install instructions aside, these Barricade Rock Sliders seem fine for the price. They look OK and exposed, useful step surface measures about 3.5 inches from factory rail.. Some concern for initial quality and longevity given the rivets weak point. Big plus was the ability to keep factory installed Rails.

I've had a bad experience with my sliders

Hi this is my input I was so excited when I received the call that the big box arrived until it was busted open on both ends however that's not the issue that they were a bit scratched up but the issue was that after they were installed which was easy they wear rubbing or tweeking when I was driven makes a terrible noise and I took my jeep to the dealer thinking it was my lift that they installed but they took my rails off and the noise quit not sure if I'm gonna try to make a homemade rubber gasket to put in between the rails and the frame bolts not sure if that's gonna do the trick you would think that they would come with such gasket if needed also it states in other videos that if you have a long arm lift you will have to grind the corners off to get proper clearance but I don't have long arm and it still make terrible noise very disappointed at the moment not sure if I'm gonna try to ship back for a refund or try to reinstall with the homemade gaskets just thought I'd give people out there the whole truth I've got a 2016 four door wrangler unlimited sport I did notice that the more pounds of torque that you put on the bolts the worse the noise got but at the recommended 35 lbs they seem a bit loose have slack in other words and still make the noise sorry extreme terrain I'm not happy haroldshaver3@gmail.com

    Quick and Easy Install

The Barricade Rock Sliders fit perfectly underneath the stock Rubicon Rails. They were super easy to install. I was able fit them on my JK by myself in less than 30 minutes. The finish looks great. The mounting to the body/frame mounts should do the trick for most situations.

Review from Barricade Rock Sliders (07-17 Wrangler JK 2 Door)

    Nice sliders

Installation was easy to do, in fact the only time consuming part was getting one of the existing bolts off, after that it was a breeze. They look really good on my 2Door Jeep and even though I haven't tested them off-road the are sturdy, heavy and well built. I do wish they came out from the Jeep just a tad more, perhaps an inch, so my wife would have more space to step but all-in-all she thinks they're just fine.

    Sliders

I purchased these to go on my Rubicon since they work with the factory rails. I wanted a rugged look that added protection and could be used as a step. I got what I wanted in these Barricade sliders. They look great and do help as a step. Installation was easy with another person helping to stabilize while I did the ratchet work. Thanks to previous reviewers for mentioning the helpful hint of pulling and pushing the bolt when necessary. I'm happy with the purchase.

    Great fit

Really like the way these mount in the body bolt and mount spots. Really makes them stout and the feel very solid. Would have been nice if they would have worked with the factory rockslides already on my rubi, kinda leaves a wide space between the lower edge of the body and the new side step/rock sliders . I'm ok with it , it's still an improvement.

    good look, heavy duty

Good product, a lot beefier then I expected. Looks good. When installing on driver side make sure on back two bolts as you tighten you are pulling the bar out away from the frame. There is only about an eight on an inch clearance and it can rub on the frame as I found out. Easy fix and all good and quiet now.

    Easy to install protection

I installed this with a couple buddies under an hour. It's worth having one other person help because they are quite heavy and the extra hands will help hold them in place. They are super study once on. Bolting to the body, I'm able to jump on them with all my weight and no give. They are quite textured, not really matching the basic textured fender flares if that's what you're going for. They are also darker than the grey, textured fenders. I would recommend these. They make a great smaller step to get in and also offer good protection on the sides.

Review from Barricade Rock Sliders (07-17 Wrangler JK 2 Door)

    Awesome Steps / Sliders

These sliders are the perfect combination of steps / side armor. Installation took less than a half hour, and all mounting locations lined up perfectly with the factory body mounts. They are solid, and very well built. They project outward about 6", just right for a step without looking like wings. I chose these over other brands because of the angled bar design, for both appearance and possible safety reasons...I didn't want the kids feet to get stuck between the bars. I'd definitely refer these to anyone looking for a slider / step.

    Great look and great value!

I was looking for a quality step/rail that would fit with my factory Rubicon Rick rails. I have 2 small children and needed something for them to assist them with getting in and out. These Barricade rails are heavy and for the money, one of the best options available. Haven't tested their durability yet. Installed on my own in 2 hrs with the assist of my trusty floor jack.

    Barricade Rock Rails

I looked at numerous brands of rock rails before purchasing the Barricade rock rails. I even went to the Wrangler Forum for more info. This is our first Jeep and I wanted rails that looked good, bolted to the frame (and not the body pinch welds) and were strong. By far, these are some of the best rail out there and you can't beat free shipping. I ordered them on 1/22, even knowing they were on back order but on 1/27 they were shipped and on 2/1 they were in my hands. That's pretty impressive, I thought I'd be waiting a lot longer for them to show up. The only issue I had on installation was that on the passenger side rail the front bolt hole was a little off, so a little work with a file and some black paint and it was done. The driver's side was done in less than10 minutes. All in all, the whole job took less than an hour. I am very impressed with the look and the structure of the Barricade rock rails. Awesome product!
