- How to install Barricade Rock Sliders on your 2007-2015 Jeep Wrangler JK 4 Door

Hey, guys. It's Sara from extremeterrain.com. And today, we have a review an install of the Barricade Rock Sliders, fitting your '07 through '18 four-door Jeep Wrangler JKs. These steps feature a heavy-duty two-inch tubular stainless steel construction with a textured black powder coat finish. So these rock sliders provide side as well as underneath protection and they also double as a step. These are one of the only options which combine those two features. A lot of other options out there are either only rock sliders or a step that is not gonna offer much protection. In addition, these will allow you to retain your factory or add some factory-style Rubi rails, which also sets them apart from other steps. So these are a great option if you're an avid off-roader. One other thing I want to point out is that they slant upwards slightly to work against getting your Jeep stuck on rocks. Coming in at around $350 these are middle of the road price-wise when compared to other step or rock slider options. However, for your money, you are getting the protection of a rock slider with the function of a step. I'm giving this install a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. These rock sliders feature a bolt-up installation utilizing the existing body bolts. This can be done in two hours with the help of a friend. So with that said, let's jump right into our install. For this install, we used a deep 18-millimeter socket and an impact gun. All right, so the first step in our install is to remove these three body bolts using an 18-millimeter socket. Next up, set your step in place. You may need a friend for this one and get the body bolts threaded back in. Insert your body bolts into the bracket on the step and then back into your Jeep. Grab your 18-millimeter socket and tighten these down. Line up your bolt holes and insert your body bolt back into your step. You may have to loosen the other bolts a little bit in order to get this one lined up. Grab your 18-millimeter socket and tighten this down. All right, guys, that is gonna do it for the review and install of our Barricade Rock Sliders. Remember for all things Jeep, keep it at extremeterrain.com.

For those who installed the Barricade Rock Sliders on a 2-Dr JK Rubicon and KEPT the OEM rails in place. Please comment on the usable "step" space available beyond the rails edge. There are some great Customer pictures but it's somewhat difficult to determine how far the actual step space extends. And also please note if you modified (extra washers to lower or oblonged bolt holes to side extend) the install. Thanks!
To answer my own question - Installed on 2016 Rubicon 2-Dr with OEM Rails and ended up with ABOUT 3.5 inches of usable step surface. Relatively small but mostly adequate.
Do I need to take off the factory installed Rubicon rock rails or can I leave them on when installing this product?
The Barricade Rock Sliders will fit wit the OEM Rubicon and Willys rock rails, as well as Barricade Rubi Rails.
Do these work as a hi jack lift point
The Barricade Rock Sliders can be used as a recovery jack lift point.
How much does this 4 door kit weigh, including rails and all hardware?
The Barricade Rock Sliders For the 4 door Wrangler has a complete shipping weight of 86 Lbs including all hardware.
Can these be used as a high lift Jack point?
The Barricade Rock Sliders can be used as a high lift jack point, however we recommend against this, as the tubular design and lack of notches can make the jack prone to slipping/sliding.
The Barricade Rock Sliders should be torqued to 80 ft/lbs as listed on the install guide: https://lib.extremeterrain.com/guides/J100288-J100289-manu.pdf.

Barricade Rock Sliders install.
We ordered the sliders on Monday, received them Thursday and installed them on Friday with the help of a friend. The fit was perfect and install was easy. Used an impact wrench which made the install quick. Also used lock tight thread lock to insure the body bolts and sliders don’t come lose. During install be sure to start the bolts three or four threads before torquing then completely. The sliders look great and enhance the appearance of the Jk.Helpful (0)

Nice finish, sturdy
These look great and have a nice black finish. I am a short girl and I wanted a little something to help me step up in my Jeep, and these are nice for that. The design doesn’t cause them to cake up with dirt and debris excessively. My husband installed them fairly quickly and easily. They don’t really cover the pinch weld along the bottom of the Jeep (which I think is unattractive) but they do distract from it significantly. I like that they won’t hold water and dirt next to my Jeep body, since they’re mounted to the frame. These are exactly what I wanted for functionality for a price I am happy with.Helpful (2)

Function and looks great!
These look good and work great for my wife and passengers to get into the front and especially the back seat in my 2D Rubicon JK. They have just enough non-slip step surface without taking away much ground clearance. I love that they install over the existing sliders for a clean look.Helpful (1)

Nice looking rock sliders
Great looking and extremely easy to install. Hardest part of the install was loosening the bolts that they attach to.Helpful (1)

Impressed with out-of-box quality
They arrived very well packed via UPS. Instructions are minimal but it's not hard to figure out. Ends of the tubes are sealed, which is good, and the powder/texture was even and complete. My short wife says that the guard acts as a step just fine. It attaches using the frame bolts which is why this thing is rated for actually being able to lift the jeep with a hi-lift. I recommend new blue lock-tite on the bolts for reinstallation. I thought I was going to have to re-drill one of the mounting holes but everything lined up after I loosened the bolts and shoved things around a bit. The lesson is the keep things really loose until you have all the bolts inserted part way. I haven't bashed this on a rock yet but I suspect it'll come through just fine.Helpful (1)

Easy install. Exactly what I needed.
Had zero issues with this install. Delivery was fast and box was not damaged. All you need is an 18mm socket and wrench. Had my brother pull down the bolts as I loosened them and they came out with no trouble. Seems sturdy so far and haven’t noticed any squeaking noise others have mentioned. Took less than an hour.Helpful (1)

Best in this price range.
Let me tell you these things have surely done their job. In the video Ryan wasnt joking when he said these things can take a beating. This summer I have used them repeatedly on several difficult trails and they do their job. Very similar to the Ace sliders but half the price.Helpful (0)

I had gone back and forth on these and the ace rock sliders. Price got me in the end. I took my super amazing and awesome Walmart brand hyper tough impact wrench(zero sarcasm, the thing is great for its price) and got to work. If laying out tools (impact wrench and extension cord, 18mm impact socket, 3 inch extension, one large open ended wrench, and a torque wrench) was included in the time it took, my total time would've been 40 minutes to install both sides. Without an impact I'd definitely see it taking longer. I'm sorry to those that broke body bolts, mine came right out and I live in the pnw with plenty of rain and rust. I guess it's a bit of bad luck if that happens. On both sides the rear bolt didn't come out and was stuck in the factory retaining sheet metal spinning freely, I had to apply some leverage downward while working the ratchet to get it to drop out. A pry bar or large flat head could work too... Or just sheer muscle maybe. As for use able step? I wouldn't rely on it when it's raining or slick out, and I definitely would combine it with some form of grab handles or grab bars for old people or youngers. If you're careful getting in, sure it's usable with rubi sliders. Imagine stepping on the edge of a stair with just your toes and metatarsals. I'll keep the five stars cause my kid and mom can use it in combo with grab handles. I won't be using them to step in. Build quality is incredible. Was packaged extremely well and the costing was great. So solid.Helpful (0)

Great addition to the Rubi Rails
Great price compared to other manufactures...Install went very easily without issue...Two door JK's like mine are difficult for smaller children to climb in and out...These rails act like a step making it a safe mount / dismountHelpful (0)

Easy to install. a pry bar was needed to get bolts off after you unbolt.... just pops them out. look good, fits over ruby rails .... and i did end up using them. flipped a rock up able to get over scrapping the slidder, not under carrage or door.Helpful (0)

Misleading video instruction
Do your research before starting this. The body bolts have a significant failure rate of failure when you remove them. There are countless posts about this where people have broken the body bolts and this is no longer a day job. The installation video makes this look so easy and really it should be but the bolts are not made very well and the nut it threads into is buried inside the body of the Jeep so if you screw it up... be ready to pay over $500 to have someone fix it.Helpful (0)
