    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, Kevin Tetz for ExtremeTerrain.com. The factory side steps for our '07 to '15 JKs and Wranglers leave a lot to be desired when it comes to durability and strength, and if you're ever thinking about doing some hard-core wheeling or off-roading with your vehicle, you really want to consider upgrading your side and body protection to a set of rock rails, like these from Barricade. These are a heavy-duty stainless construction, a two-stage powder coat, and are very strong. They utilize factory body mounts and mount underneath the rocker panels. Now we've heard a couple rumblings about these because they drop down and they expose this factory pinch weld, and some people think it might not look as great as it could, but for me, it's a compromise that's absolutely worth it because we have trail-tested these suckers. We have rode some giant boulders and rocks with these rock rails and they will protect your Jeep, and I can guarantee that we've done it. So, for me, it's worth it. Besides, a can of rattle can paint and you can enhance that a little bit, and it's one of those things that you just sort of take in stride. Now, a couple of buddies and some simple hand tools, you can have these things installed in about a half an hour a side. So it's a great upgrade, they're cost-effective, and they work. If you're ever thinking about increasing your side protection and your protection from obstacles on your chassis, you really want to consider these Barricade rock rails.

Dual Function. Barricade Off-Road Rock Sliders will give your 4-door JK Wrangler a rugged off-road appearance while providing practical side and undercarriage protection from brush, rocks and other trail hazards. Plus these Barricade Off-Road Rock Sliders also double as a convenient step for easy entry into your lifted JK Wrangler.

Heavy Duty Construction. Manufactured from heavy duty 2" diameter (0.12" wall thickness) stainless steel tubing, these Barricade Off-Road Rock Sliders are completed in a durable textured black powder coat finish for aggressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

Easy, Bolt-on Installation. Barricade Off-Road Rock Sliders are engineered to be a direct bolt-on upgrade using just basic hand tools, so there is no drilling or cutting required for a clean straight forward installation.

Application. These Barricade Off-Road Rock Sliders are designed to fit 2007-2018 4-door Jeep Wrangler JKs. Includes driver and passenger side. Will work in conjunction with factory Rubicon rails.

Do I need to take off the factory installed Rubicon rock rails or can I leave them on when installing this product?

    • The Barricade Rock Sliders will fit wit the OEM Rubicon and Willys rock rails, as well as Barricade Rubi Rails.

For those who installed the Barricade Rock Sliders on a 2-Dr JK Rubicon and KEPT the OEM rails in place. Please comment on the usable "step" space available beyond the rails edge. There are some great Customer pictures but it's somewhat difficult to determine how far the actual step space extends. And also please note if you modified (extra washers to lower or oblonged bolt holes to side extend) the install. Thanks!

    • To answer my own question - Installed on 2016 Rubicon 2-Dr with OEM Rails and ended up with ABOUT 3.5 inches of usable step surface. Relatively small but mostly adequate.

Will this fit 2015 4 door Rubicon unlimited

    • I just installed on my 2015 JKU. These you can leave the Rubi Rails on. After install I was getting a lot of noise, sounded like suspension or brake squeaks. Very annoying. The noise seemed to only been coming from the driver side. I verified the torque was spec to 80 ft.lbs. After two days I was completely annoyed. Such an easy install to have this kind of problem. Finally on my last attempt to fix the issue before I send them back I inspected the rails and frame again noticing this time that the rear bracket was touching the frame, all the other brackets had a little space between the frame and the bracket. Here was my fix. I went to Walmart and bought the cheapest kids size water shoes. I cut off the netting from the shoe, removed the white felt from the top of the rubber. (Didn’t want anything that could hold water). I cut the rubber that was left from the shoe to the size of the square bracket that bolts to the frame. I then lowered the rock rail to where I could move it, still with the body bolts attached. Inserted the piece of rubber from the water shoe and began to tighten the body bolts again. As I tightened the bolts, the rear bracket began to squeeze the rubber to the frame, making a nice seal between the bracket and the frame. Re-torqued to spec at 80 ft.lbs. All noise was gone, Jeep is fun to drive again. I hope this helps other that may experience this issue.

Review from Barricade Rock Sliders (07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 Door)

      Pretty solid product

I like that these mount to the body mounts and not the edge of the rocker panel like others. They are pretty solid. Only complaint is that they had 4 rivets protruding out of bottom that do not look like they should be there. No reason for them but at least they are on bottom and not visible...

      Awesome Protection

These install super easy. Immediately took to the trains. Drove a wash in the desert and slid right off a boulder that I couldn't clear on the driver's side. Barely a scratch on the sliders and kept on trucking. Look great and super tough.

      Barricade Rock Sliders

It was a simple install however some of the bolts on the bottom were tough to remove even though they unscrewed they did not come completely out. If this happens you need to use a Screw driver to put downward pressure o the bolt and then it will completely come out. I like that you don't have to remove the factory Rubi rails to instal these rock Sliders.

      Decent product for the price

These are definitely beefy and heavier than I had expected. I didn't have any issues with a damaged shipping box or scratched sliders. Everything was well packaged and in perfect condition. Install took about an hour. 45 minutes for the first one since I didn't know what I was doing. 15 minutes for the second one. My only complaint is that they are not evenly made. On the driver side, there is enough space for me to slide my fingers between the factory Rubi rail and the slider. I can't do this on the passenger side. The rail is much closer to the slider.

Review from Barricade Rock Sliders (07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 Door)

      INSTALL ISSUE

I am very pleased with my Rock Siiders. They look great but also provide a step for our lifted Wrangler. All good, but.... The installation instructions suck! All they said was to torque them down to factory specks. "Usually about 35 lbs." Well, I did that and they squeaked and made a noise that sounded like they were falling off. Went back and checked these reviews and found out I wasn't the only guy to have problems. Some didn't but a lot of guys did. Here is a simple way to avoid the problem or fix it. When you install the rails just make sure they do not touch the frame on the side. Mine did not touch on the front bolts but did on the back bolts. To fix this I loosened the bolt on the back, took a large flat blade screw driver and wedged it between the Jeep frame and the Rock Rail, tightened the bolt down, pulled the screw driver out, and the problem was gone. Also, I checked and found out the bolt was supposed to be torqued to at least 70 lbs. Barricade is hurting itself by not giving these instruction with their product. If they won't then ET needs to include them. Still like my Rock Rails.

      So far so good

Super fast and easy install did it by myself on the ground. Haven’t hit any rocks yet but mounts to three spots so lots of support/strength. Shipping box was torn up and had a little chip off the paint but that’s expected for a solo driver to deliver heavy products. If you don’t wana spend alot for high end sliders these are well worth it.

      Well Built

The reason I gave this item 4 stars instead of 5 is when it arrived, some of the powder coat had been scraped somehow and a portion of the bare metal was exposed. Otherwise, I am very happy with the build quality and fitment. I would recommend making sure that you pull the sliders away from the frame as far as possible before tightening the bolts. Without a small space, I could see the potential for a small squeak. The overall install took about 45 min. at a careful pace. I installed them myself, with a small block holding one end propped while I tightened the other side. Pretty easy to install. Looking forward to getting them muddy and into some rocks :-).

      Very bad decision

I thought it was easy to install, yes it is, but the 2 side are uneven! Driver side is around 1.5 inches lower, and keep having weird sound. I learned from some thread, put very thick rubber for driver side, right now no weird sound any more, but still uneven. Hate it!

Review from Barricade Rock Sliders (07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 Door)

      Dual purpose rock slider!

I looked at many different rock sliders in terms of designs, materials, finishes, mounting methods, and prices before purchase and decided this one for overall protection of the side of my Jeep and easy for my wife to get in and off the vehicle. Although the mounting method is not as strong as those rock sliders directly mount on the ladder frames, it’s certainly stronger than other body mounting types. It also complement the Rubi slides on my Rubicon. With that price, I feel I can hit rocks without hesitation. The installation was very simple and easy. Grinding the washers of the body mounting bolts is unnecessary like ACE Engineering’s rock sliders. I would give 5 score once I would take it to a trail to see how they perform.

Review from Barricade Rock Sliders (07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 Door)

      Great Product, Nice Price

Convinced by XT's video review, i chose these because of their reasonable price, low profile, adequate step, clean look, solid construction, and the fact that they attach with the body mount bolts and they work with my rubi rail. (You dont need the rubi rail for protection when you have these, but I already had them and they hide the pinch seam so I wanted to keep them). The barricade rails installed easily and there is plenty of surface to step on.
