I'm receiving this today, my JKU is waiting bare to have it bolted on. However, I'm reading up for the install, and at the very bottom of the description, it says that the hitch is "not rated for towing"?! Why on earth would you include a built-in hitch that is not rated for towing?! That's kind of like having wheels that are not rated for driving on!

        • We do apologize that you ran into this issue! At this time Barricade does not offer an tow rated bumpers. Their hitch is intended for recovery purposes and some customers use it for accessory racks, like bike racks.

I'm interested in the Barricade rear bumper but I already have a hitch installed on my jeep. Does the bumper also come without the hitch already on it, or only with the 2" hitch built in? Thanks. I saw another question about cutting off the hitch but nothing specifically about whether or not the bumper also comes without the hitch attached. It seems like something Barricade would/should make as most jeeps already have hitches on them.

        • The Barricade Trail Force HD Rear Bumper has a built in 2" Receiver. this is not rated for towing and does not have a location for safety chains to attach. This is a feature added in for utilizing accessories that attach to a 2" reciever.

Will this fit with a Barricade Roof rack? I just installed a Barricade roof rack for the holidays. It required the removal of the stock bumper and tow hook. The rear mount covers the outside of the frame, how does this bumper bolt on? Thanks, Alternativeshots

        • It bolts onto the four holes the stock trailer hitch attached to on the frame and two holes on both sides of the frame. The driver side mounts onto the same holes that were used by the rear tow hook on my 2012 JKU.

How does this bumper work with the Garvin Adventure Rack? The Garvin Rack is meant to integrate with the factory bumpers but do the mounting points for the rack and this bumper allow them to be both installed on the same vehicle?

        • The Barricade Trail Force HD Rear Bumper can be utilized when installing the Garvin Adventure Rack, and would require following the directions below: http://1.cdn.lib.extremeterrain.com/guides/J25112-cust.pdf

Review from Barricade Trail Force HD Rear Bumper (07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK)

            Bumbler looks good

We put the bumpers on, took us about an hour for the front and the same for the back. Taking off the old ones was the longest screws were old and tight needed to use a breaker bar. But after that it was smooth sailing they look very good. Nicky

            Looks Great

Probably took me a couple of hours to install by myself with the use of a floor jack. Wasn’t hard at all. Everything fit good and came with everything you need. Fit perfect with my overhead rack.

            Winter will be the end

This number definitely does the job and looks great. But half way through the winter the swing arm completely seized and would not open. Now, I live in the North where salt is our middle name, and that definitely fed into the matter. But unless you live somewhere where road grime and salt are not an issue, you will run into this issue every single year and you are going to spend at least 2 hours trying to pry this thing open them get it open to clean out all of the grime.

            Heavy, Well Made Bumper

Well made beefy rear bumper. This thing is heavy! Not a one man job, you will definitely need some help. Other than the weight, installation is pretty straight forward. Provides tons more protection that the original plastic bumper.

Barricade Trail Force HD rear bumper

This bumper looks sleek and goes with the silhouette of the my jku. The spare tire carrier is durable and can handle heavy loads. My spare tire sz is 35x12.5x20 and gives my Jeep a really nice look with the spare tire carrier.. I recommend anyone to purchase barricade products they are really durable and the powder coat is official!

            Poor paint quality

I had this rear bumper professional installed. The Jeep is stored in a garage and has never had mud on the bumper. After a month I noticed rust bubbles forming. At this time the paint around the tow shackles was completely gone and the steel was exposed and rusted. After about 2 months the rust bubbles had turned to exposed steel. The bumpers build quality is not bad but do expect to spend $200 on powder coating months after getting your bumper. I would recommend the seller use a higher quality paint. Just watching out for future buyers. No wonder the warranty only lasts 1 month!

            Awesome Barricade

I got this bumper to match my front I didn't know prior that it had some reviews of rust issues. I'm hoping this doesn't become a problem. Aluminium option is available. Overall, it looks awesome on my ride. Added red D Rings with black isolators to match front and color theme. I'd recommend Barricade.

            Bumper w/ Tire Carrier

This bumper is easy to install. The latch is much stronger then I expected! It matches very well with my jeep. The only thing I had to change was my license plate. The latch covers the last 2 letters of my license plate. So I just had to relocate it to the other side by welding a bracket arm on the right side of the tire. I could have put it in the tire, I personally just don't like the look of having the license plate in the tire. Love everything about this bumper ties everything together!

Bumper works great. I also pull my snowmobile trailer (2 place) with it and my18 foot fiberglass boat (3000#) with no problems. You will need to figure out something to hook up the chains from the trailer.

Just what I was looking for

This rear bumper does exactly what I needed it to do. It saved my rear door from destruction and it looks incredible. My spare weighs 106lbs. Every bump I hit was magnified by the door bounce of my heavy spare tire and wheel. This got it mounted solid and off the door. No rattles !!! Best feature. I did lots of research and this is the most affordable way to do a rear bumper with a swing out tire carrier.
