Frame Chop Bumper Upgrade. The Motobilt Frame Chop Rear Bumper and Crossmember; Bare Steel is engineered to increase ground clearance at the rear of the Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU, enhancing off-road capability by providing approximately 5 inches more clearance than the factory receiver hitch. It replaces the factory bumper and cross member, protecting the vehicle’s frame while allowing the use of larger tires and improving overall rear departure angles.

Construction and Appearance. Crafted from 3/16 inch laser cut and CNC bent steel, this bumper features thick 3/4 inch laser cut D-rings welded inside and out for durability and strength. The cross member is designed for high strength, bolts into factory body mounts, and requires welding to the frame for secure installation. It ships as raw steel, requiring painting or powder coating to resist rust and ensure longevity.

Installation. Installation involves cutting the rear frame rails and removing the factory rear cross member, followed by welding the new cross member into place. This process requires moderate fabrication skills and welding capabilities but does not require drilling additional holes.

Application. Specifically designed to fit the 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU model years and compatible with both factory frames and Motobilt back half kits. It is important to note that this bumper is not compatible with receiver hitch applications.
