Pre-Installation notes:

  • If your Wrangler has the original, painted stock door hinges, you will need to break the seal of these prior to installation. Paint may chip in this process, and some people find using a razor to score around each bolt can minimize excess chipping. I simply used my T50 socket and applied smooth, steady force to unscrew until the paint cracked.
  • Remember to always keep at least two bolts in the door as this negates the need for additional door support or hinge marking. Removing all four bolts at once will require you to re-align your door.

Installation Instructions:

1. The Smittybilt ATLAS Door Step kit comes with the step, two gaskets, and four T30 bolts for each door.

2. After scoring/breaking the paint as described in the pre-installation notes, remove the upper left T50 bolt.

3. Place the gasket beneath the top edge of the step and hand tighten the T30 bolt that comes with the kit. There should be enough room to access the upper right T50 bolt for removal.

4. Remove the upper right T50 bolt, adjust the gasket, and hand tighten the T30 bolt in its place again. Notice there should only be enough play in the step to access one of the lower bolts.

5. Repeat the process for the lower bolts, removing first the lower left T50 bolt, placing the gasket, and replacing it with the hand tightened T30 kit bolt, and then the lower right. You are now ready to fully tighten all four bolts.

6. Using a 3/8-inch torque wrench, set the torque to 25ft/lbs.

7. Tighten all four bolts, being careful to use either the clicking of your torque or the scale as a guide to avoid overtightening.

8. The underside of each step also now serves as a bottle opener. Have fun!
