Ask a Question

Is there anything else needed to put this on my 2005 Wrangler X? Or is it a complete kit?

WilliamE

  • The Rough Country 4 in. Lift Kit w/ Shocks (03-06 Wrangler TJ) is a pretty complete kit, although the track bar bracket is supplied; I would recommend getting a heavy duty adjustable track bar like this https://www.extremeterrain.com/rough-country-adjustable-track-tj-7572.html for added support.

do you need to install the transfer case drop if you install the SYE and new driveshaft

AndyS

  • Hello, if you are installing a slip yoke eliminator and a new drive shaft you should not need to do a transfer case drop.

How much lift can I get without adding a sye

jobob

  • Hello, at any lift size for a TJ, non rubicon model, it is recommended to do either a transfer case drop or Slip Yoke Eliminator. At 3 inches of lift or larger a slip yoke and new Double Cardan Driveshaft recommenced instead of a transfer case drop to ensure proper driveshaft angles to prevent vibrations or other drive line problems.

I have an 04 Jeep TJ with standard transmission. Will I need a transfer case drop down linkage bracket, SYE, or any other parts not included in this kit?

Hom4

  • The Transfer Case drop is what they include to keep from wobble. But you lose ground clearance when you do this to make room for the drive shaft and you are still changing the angle. The best option for you jeep is to spend the few hundred dollars and but a SYE, it makes the work on the driven much less and it makes a smooth ride. If you are gonna lift your jeep. Do it right and don't short change it.

    Good bang for the buck!

I'm impressed; great lift for the money. RC makes a good lift kit in my opinion. Gives my Jeep enough lift to easily fit 35's under it and I like the stance it has now. Very good product. I would recommend before spending an insane amount of money on other kits, that'll do same job.

    Good Price/ Good Looks

this was a great addition to my jeep. it looks good and was what I was looking for. the only thing that I think should be changed was the shock boots should be included in the kit.

    looks great

i am happy with the look of the lift with 33's but jeep has a vibration in the 45-55 mph range that is very noticeable.. chatted with rep and was told that i need SYE after installing. Had i known that were the case, would have gone in a different direction from the beginning, SYE and DS cost twice as much as lift

    Great for the price!

I got this lift for my 2004 jeep tj unlimited. We spent almost 24 hours installing it at a buddy's diesel mechanic shop. The instructions are a little vague but after a good look around we figured it out. This lift makes the jeep look so much better and actually did give it a better ride quality. If I did it again I personally would have went ahead and changed the pitman arm and steering stabilizer only because I plan to go up to 35s. All in all it is an amazing lift for the price!

Great lift kit for the money

As the title says. Great lift kit for the money. There are 2 recommendations when you but this lift. Get a drop pitman arm and adjustable track bar to install with it. It is much easier to do it once then multiple times.

    Lift kit

Very pleased with the fit and function of this kit. Wish they gave a little insight on the fact that the 4wd shifter was not capable of going into 4wd low without modifying linkage and cutting floor board and plastic trim inside by shifter. Also this vehicle was a manual 6 speed and the shifter itself wouldnt go into reverse without modifying trim panel surrounding shifter. not a big deal i knew what i was creating by lifting a jeep but first test drive was unsuccessful because of these things

    Awesome Lift

This lift was a great price and relatively easy to install, though it did take about 8 hours by myself. Impact wrench and a spring compressor are a definite must. The jeep rides and handles better than stock. I also believe it sits a lot higher than what you might think. I can easily clear 35's.

    Great lift for the price.

This was a great replacement lift for me. The lift on my jeep when I bought it was old and warn out. Drives way better now, worth the money. Haven't really tested it off road since this jeep is my daily driver. But I'm confident it will do fine. Took longer then thought because the old rear shock bolts broke while uninstaling old lift. Did it with a buddie, definitely recommend air tools and alot of pb plaster for the install of old or factory hardware took about 6 hours.

    AWESOME

This lift is awesome! Paid a couple of my buddies in beer to help me and use one of their garages and we knocked this out in a day! Started around 11ish and finished before midnight. Everything fit perfectly except one thing..... the linkage from the transfer case would hit one of the bolts on the new drop down plate supplied in the kit when trying to go into 4 low.... with a little ingenuity (added a couple washers) it's bounces right around it now. I couldn't be happier with this lift and the wheel and tire combo with it! BUY THIS FOR YOU JEEP

Great Kit, Comes With Everything you need

Great kit, comes with everything you need to lift the Jeep. It's like an all inclusive vacation, what you pay up front is all you need to pay to do the job. No stopping the job and running to the car shop to pick up needed parts to finish. The jeep rides smooth on road and handles great off road. Glad I found and bought this kit.

    Decent kit

Quick delivery of the product. Easy overall installation with a few delays for frozen bolts (upper rear shock bolts) on a North Eastern located Jeep,, but it's a decent product for decent price. Slight vibration a highway speed.

Can't beat it for the money

I put this lift on a 05 TJ. Lift installed easy taking my time I spend a Saturday and most of Sunday But I was in no rush. I did not use the transfer case drop kit. Instead I spent the extra money And did the SYE and cv driveshaft. Very happy with it all Rides great!
