Got everything on and the transfer shift linkage drop bracket was wrong so my jeep is down for 7 days waiting on them to send me the correct one. Happy with everything just glad this isnt my daily driver!!!Helpful (1)

45mph across sand!!
Saw a man and son drowning at our local beach while our neighbors called lifeguard my 03 wrangler was doing 45mph across bumpy sand and it handled like a dream! I've never had a vehicle handle so well over that kind of terrain and I mean at one point all four wheels were off the ground! I strongly recommend this kit! Even the lifegaurd told us thank god for jeeps cause they wouldn't have found the couple in the water otherwise!!! The jeep drive fine 70 miles home after too minus ball joint pops. #ripballjoints #ripbearings #ripstockparts #darksidegohardHelpful (1)

The lift was as easy as the video made it. With one small exception getting the shift linkage down to bend the bracket some was needed and harder than shown. But over all the install was easy and love the new look. Can’t wait to go play in the mud.Helpful (1)

Good lift for the money.
This kit does what is claims it will. It's a good kit for the money if you don't mind some mid-level quality and non adjustable parts. Weakest feature on mine is the resistance to corrosion on all painted surfaces (which is about ten years old). I'm replacing the rubber bushings now...Best suited for mall crawling/easy trails.Helpful (1)

I bought this for looks and to pull my boat from the water to on site storage. 1st- it looks great, upon arrival and installed. 2nd- I’m very mechanically inclined and particular. The instructions and hardware are terrible. The instructions cite US standard hardware but all is metric. Example: says install 1/2-13 bolts but they’re 12mm-1.75. However, the welded nuts are so sloppy that either size bolt will fit. Instructions say torque to listed specs “grade 9.8 bolt” but the bolts are grade 8.8. This is all a big deal and leaves me lacking confidence in the class 3 row rating. Smittybilt tech support was helpful and not. I was told that the instructions were old and for the originally made in USA version but maybe I got the wrong hardware pack. They sent me another that was the same. I guess we will see when I pull my boat out of the water.Helpful (4)

Not complete kit for 2004
Had this kit installed at a shop. Came out with very serious driveline vibration at various speeds, especially bad at 45-55mph. Contacted rc and they recommended an alignment, which did correct my horrible death wobble, but did nothing for dL vibration. I needed to purchase lower rear adjust control arms, and have the shop adjust. Vibration is 80 gone.Helpful (6)
Will this kit work on an Automatic trans? Rubicon. Or is there additional parts I need to purchase? wayne
Yes, the Rough Country 4 in. Lift Kit w/ Shocks would fit 2003-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ and TJ Unlimited models, including automatic and Rubicon models. In regards to additional pieces needed, this kit is a complete kit, although you may want to upgrade the track bar to an adjustable option for more support.
Will this fit 35 x 12.50" tires?
This would work with 35s but would not leave you with a lot of room to flex.
Will extended brake lines be needed with this kit?
The Rough Country 4 in. Lift Kit will not require any brake line changes, unless you are disconnecting the sway bar. With sway bar disconnects, extended brake lines will be required.
I have a 2004 Jeep TJ X model, to instal the lift is an SYE recommended or required?
Will this kit work on a 2003 Rubicon?
It is recommended that you upgrade to an adjustable track bar to allow for proper suspension alignment. For the control arms, it really is just a design choice to allow for the best fitment and operation of either lift kit, there is not really a superior design in this regard.
It would be recommended to get a drop pitman arm yes.
With this item, mechanical expertise or professional installation is suggested. Per the manufacturer's site, installation should take approximately 6 to 8 hours.
Yes, the transfer case drop in this kit would need to be installed for a better driveline angle.
The Rough Country 4 in. Lift Kit w/ Shocks (03-06 Wrangler TJ) is a pretty complete kit, although the track bar bracket is supplied; I would recommend getting a heavy duty adjustable track bar like this https://www.extremeterrain.com/rough-country-adjustable-track-tj-7572.html for added support.
Hello, if you are installing a slip yoke eliminator and a new drive shaft you should not need to do a transfer case drop.
Hello, at any lift size for a TJ, non rubicon model, it is recommended to do either a transfer case drop or Slip Yoke Eliminator. At 3 inches of lift or larger a slip yoke and new Double Cardan Driveshaft recommenced instead of a transfer case drop to ensure proper driveshaft angles to prevent vibrations or other drive line problems.
Yes, the Rough Country 4 in. Lift Kit w/ Shocks (03-06 Wrangler TJ) will work with the LJ or TJ unlimited.
The Transfer Case drop is what they include to keep from wobble. But you lose ground clearance when you do this to make room for the drive shaft and you are still changing the angle. The best option for you jeep is to spend the few hundred dollars and but a SYE, it makes the work on the driven much less and it makes a smooth ride. If you are gonna lift your jeep. Do it right and don't short change it.
