    5 Top Rated Questions

Is the tent compatible with soft tops?

    • Hello! The Rightline Gear SUV Tent will work with a soft top wrangler.

I just want to be sure that this tent would fit on a 2008 Rubicon with about 4-5" lift, and the full size spare attached to the back door? Thanks

    • Depending on tire size this should be ok, however if you have very large tires, such as 37's or 40's the Rightline Gear SUV Tent will be at an extreme angle, and will not be optimal.

My jeep has a four in lift and 35" tires, can I still connect this thing?

    • Hello, yes, you can still connect this tent on a Wrangler with 4" lift and 35" tires.

I have a large 35'' spare tire on the rear. I would imagine that would hinder the use of the tent while both closed and open??

    • With the Rightline Gear SUV Tent you would be able to use a 35 inch tire. Having a larger tire would just take up a bit more room inside the tent, since the tailgate is accessible from inside. However the tent can be used with 35's.

Is there a similar tent that fits to a Wrangler but is smaller (2 person?), simpler construction and quicker setup?

    • If the Rightline Gear SUV Tent (87-17 Wrangler YJ, TJ, & JK) is too big we do carry a 2 camper Rightline Gear Pop Up Tent (87-17 Wrangler YJ, TJ, & JK) [http://www.extremeterrain.com/rightlinegear-pop-up-tent-110995.html]. Unfortunately this tent does not have the option to access the back of your jeep from inside the tent.

      Access to all

This tent was awesome! My wife and I used it on our drive along the coast vacation this summer and being able to access our gear from inside the tent it was a life saver. On our first night in southern california the amount of mosquitoes were impressive. Bug repellent worked on most ut some mosquitoes didn't care and bit us anyway. This tent kept us from having to go outside when we needed access to our gear and getting eaten alive by the blood suckers. Another feature we liked was the size of the windows which were plenty big to allow you to marvel at the wonders of nature, in our case the amount of mosquitoes, while being protected. My only complaint is that the fender flairs and bumper of the jeep don't allow the tent to make contact with the sides of body. This leaves some gaps that are big enough for some critters to get in. Some bug repellent and creative use of towels helped to close the gaps though. I give the tent 4 stars because of the gap issue. I think that a small magnetic flap sewn to the sides would alleviate the problem that I'm sure is common on other vehicles. This tent is definitely worth buying. The price is not high and having access to the inside of the vehicle from the tent can make a big difference between being miserable or feeling like you're a part of nature.

      Awesome tent!

This tent goes up extremely easy and had to endure major rain and wind on its first outing. We stayed dry the entire time with two solid days of 40 mph winds and rain. It is nice to be able to access your vehicle without getting out into the weather to do so. I highly recommend this tent to anyone that does a lot of jeep camping. Plenty of room and built very well.

      Disappointed for the price point.

Okay, this tent looks really cool. That being said, it isn't made for just a Wrangler. In fact, the directions have steps to hook to the luggage rack or use the extenders to go all the way to the front wipers and every picture shows more of an explorer type SUV, not a Jeep. Straps can't go where the directions show because it wasn't written for a Jeep. Once it was all up, there are still gaps on both sides along the Jeep, so it's not going to keep any insects out. Finally, for the price I was shocked when one strap came off in my hand, but not as much as I was to see that the floor had a hole in it after only 2 nights sleeping in it on a cot. I originally thought I could use the A/C or heat intermittently, however no thought was given to redirect the exhaust, or even have the outside tent on that area be more heat resistant. It's not what I thought it would be, but the lack of quality was the real surprise.

      Incomplete Review

I can't give a complete review, as I didn't get the opportunity to attach the tent to my Jeep. As a stand alone tent, it did fine. The parts that were supposed to attach to the Jeep were a little noisy as they blew in the wind though. Set-up was kind of a pain, but I think that had more to do with the ground we were trying to get the stakes into. I'd buy it again, though I'm really looking forward to using it as intended.

      Best tent ever!!!

So easy to set up... but the set up takes 2 people if youd like to keep the cursing to a minimum. VERY spacious... basically turns your Jeep and the tent into an outdoorsy railroad type of an apartment. It survived to wind/dust storms at Black Rock City during the Burning Man festival with no problems at all.

      Decent tent

I've taken it out for a few trips now. Does the job and allows for access to the rear of the jeep. One pole did split when assembling the most recent time. Big enough to fit a queen sized cot snug.

      Awesome

I used this tent for the first time last weekend. Easy to set up with two people. A little confusing as to how it hooks to the jeep but not too bad. Over all great product

Great tent / addition to our Wrangler

The tent is good quality and set up was easy. But the fit is not that good for Wrangler but an SUV would be better.

      Rightline tent

Okay first of all, the tent is kind of hard to set in the wind with only 1 person, 2 people would be good, especially if your setting it up for the first time. Read the instructions and you should not have a problem. Buy some better steaks if your using it in sand. Plan on have a time getting the poles in the sockets to hold up the tent, as it does take some doing, Give your self plenty of time on setting up the first time. It connects to my jeep very good, rear window up and gate open. I did not install the rain fly guard so can't comment on that, but probably simple. I wish it had little items pockets in all 4 corners, instead of just 2, i guess that's something i'll add to it. i didn't even look for the glow in the dark zipper pulls. As with most things that have a zipper, the fabric can get caught in it, so be careful. It does have a hook inside for a lantern ( go with a battery operated) Since i have to use a air mattress don't think it'll sleep 4. Taking it down, take some time, Leave the windows open just a little bit to force out the air, and just maybe you can get in all in the carry bag. It's kinda heavy, but that is the heavy duty poles, about 3\4 of total weight. I would recommend this product, even though i feel it was a little pricey. Wish i had a pic, but still on phone. Thanks, hope this helps you.
