    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys. It's Sara from extremeterrain.com. And today, we have a review and install of the RedRock 4x4 3-Inch Round Curved Side Step Bars, fitting your '07 through '18 Two-Door Jeep Wrangler JKs. These steps feature a 3-inch tubular stainless steel construction with a textured black powder coat finish. They also include a non-slip pad for entry into your Jeep in all kinds of weather. So if you take your Jeep off-roading frequently or if you like some more aggressive trails, these might not be the right choice for you. These don't offer as much protection as a rock slider would and they're gonna decrease your ground clearance as well. However, if you prefer more mild trails or if you're just looking to add some side steps your Jeep, especially if it's lifted, these are an excellent choice. Coming in at around $140, these are a budget-friendly way to add some function and style to your Jeep. I'm giving this install a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It can be done in approximately two hours and features a direct bolt-up installation. All right, with that said, let's jump right into our install. This install, you will need a 10-millimeter wrench, the included Allen key, an extension, a 13-millimeter socket, and an impact gun. All right, so we're going to attach our brackets to the bottom of our Jeep. Make sure that you're grabbing the proper one. They should all be stamped for the side of the Jeep you're working on. We're on the driver currently, an F for the front bracket. Line it up with the threaded hole. If you don't see your threaded hole in here, there's an included nut plate that you can use. But since ours has the threaded hole, we're gonna grab our hardware and thread it in. We're just gonna thread this in loosely for now so that we can get the rest of our bolts in. Next up, grab your smallest hardware and line it up with the holes on the pinch weld to the holes on the bracket. And your bracket should be sitting behind this pinch weld. Make sure that you get a washer on either side. With the included Allen key and a 10-millimeter wrench, we're gonna tighten these down. Next up, grab a 13-millimeter socket and tighten down the bolt that goes to the bottom of the Jeep. You may need an extension here. Line up your second bracket. Again, make sure that it's stamped with the proper side and back or R for rear. Grab your hardware and thread it into the bottom of your Jeep. We're gonna tighten this down a little bit. For now, to hold it in place but leave it loose so that we can get the rest of our bolt in. Grab your smallest hardware and get it through your pinch weld into the back of your bracket. Grab the included Allen key and a 10-millimeter wrench and tighten this down. Grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten down the bolt going into the bottom of your Jeep. Line up and get your side step in place. Line up the holes on your side step with the holes on the bracket. If these don't look like they're aligned, loosen up the bolts in our last step so you have some more space to align them. Once the bolts are in, grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten them down. Grab the bolts for the front bracket and get them lined up. Grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten these down. All right, guys, that's gonna do it for the review and install of our RedRock 4x4 Side Steps. Remember for all things Jeep, keep it at extremeterrain.com.

Dual Function. RedRock 4x4's 3 inch Round Side Steps will give your 2-door JK Wrangler an aggressive off-road appearance while providing a convenient step for easy entry into your lifted vehicle. Plus these Side Steps also double as side armor to provide additional protection from brush, trail hazards and door dings.

Heavy Duty Construction. Manufactured from heavy duty 3" diameter round mild steel tubing, these RedRock 4x4 Side Steps are completed in a durable textured black powder coat finish for aggressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

Easy, Bolt-on Installation. The RedRock 4x4 Wrangler Side Step is engineered to be a direct bolt-on upgrade using just basic hand tools, so there is no drilling or cutting required for a clean straight forward installation. Rubicon Models will require the factory Rail Rails to be removed in order to complete the installation.

Application. This RedRock 4x4 Wrangler 3" Round Side Step is designed to fit 2007-2018 2-door Jeep Wrangler JKs. Includes driver and passenger side.

How much does the entire kit weigh, including both bars, brackets, and all hardware? (Shipping weight would also suffice as a ballpark estimate.) Looking to keep the weight down my 2017 JK as much as possible.

        • The RedRock 4x4 3 in. Curved Round Side Steps will weigh in at 42Lbs with the step bars brackets and all required hardware/components.

            Redrock 3in Side Steps

Easy to install. But not holding up to well. They scratch extremely too easy. And the ends are too weak. The gloss black in not holding up very good either.

Installation was pretty simple once I figured out the nuts and bolts. The running boards themselves just look great! They added a “meaty” look that my stock Wrangler was lacking. I’m very pleased!

Great Product, Not So Great Instructions!

These step bars are sturdy, strong, super solid and smart looking! They fit my 2013 Jeep Sahara perfectly! And they are nicely priced! However the instructions are crazy awful. Plus way too many bolts and nuts not labeled. I spent more time trying to understand the instructions than actually installing the bars. Even YouTube videos were hard to follow. But the results are worth the frustrations!!!

Easy installation. Proper fit. Look good. Just a not - instructions don't warn you about possible manufacturer threaded hole in frame. It didn't strip the bolt and mounted with ease. Great value.

            Awesome Look, took some doing

These look great when installed and were mostly easy to do. It took a little adjusting of the arms (some banging and bending) to make all the holes line up, and I am not sure if that is because of the jeep or the attachment arms. Otherwise, they are exactly what I was looking for.

            Great step and great look

Great steps and look on my silver JK. Only disadvantage is the instructions. They are horrible in explaining what screws to use where and with the additional screws and mounting plates it's a bit confusing. Watch the video on the site or download other instructions. After a half hour figuring out what goes where the installation was very easy. Be sure to have a tap to use in the body tub to prevent cross threading ( not included). Very sturdy and great look.

            Works for me. Happy overall.

I like the look and the assist with getting into my vehicle. I installed them myself. It took about three hours. The difficulty of the install was low but the angles and placement of the attachments made it take longer than an hour. It was a matter of lining up the parts and making adjustments along the way. I had a bit of trouble lining up the last bolt in the passenger step. It was off by about a quarter of an inch.
