Review & Install Video

Hey guys. I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com, and this is my review of the RedRock 4x4 Trail 13-inch Short Antenna, fitting all 2007-2016 JKs. This mod is about both form and function. It provides that sleek look that a lot of you guys are after. And, if you're somebody who takes your Jeep off-road a lot and find yourself getting the tall factory antenna snagged on passing tree branches or brush, this solves that problem as well. If you do manage to get the shorter antenna snagged, you don't have to worry about it. This is flexible, and it'll snap right back straight again. As you know, if you bend the factory metal antenna, you have to get out and bend that back yourself. With any shorter antenna, you're gonna end up with a little bit less radio reception. So if you're in an area that has a weak signal, you might find yourself with some more static. If you're somebody who uses your XM Radio, you don't have to worry about it, this will not affect that signal at all. This is built to replace the factory antenna but be a full 22 inches shorter, and has a black, weather-resistant coating. And, as we mentioned before, it's flexible, unlike some other short antennas on the market. The install for this antenna is really easy, it screws right into the base on the side of the Jeep. Just unscrew the old antenna and screw in the new one. If your factory antenna is really tight, you might need an open-ended wrench to break it loose, but most of you won't need any tools at all. The whole install will take less than a half an hour. This is within a few dollars of comparable antennas on the market, and using the factory base on the Jeep helps to keep the cost down a little bit. Now, with any shorty antenna, you may end up with a little less reception and a little bit more static, but I think this is a really good value for what you get. This is an inexpensive and easy-to-install mod, and it just looks good. For those of you that take your Jeeps off-road, you have the added benefit of a flexible antenna that's short enough to stay out of the way. That's my review of the RedRock 4x4 Trail 13-inch Short Antenna that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

13" Low Profile Flexible Design. Get rid of that ugly 35” eye sore Chrysler calls an antenna, and replace it with a RedRock 4x4 low profile 13” short trail antenna. The low profile flexible design keeps the antenna from being bent by trees, unlike the factory 35" antenna.

Quality Build and Finish. The RedRock 4x4 13" short antenna comes in a satin-black rubber coated finish that is both scratch and weather resistant. The antenna fits like just like an OEM part, but gives you that sporty off road look.

Easy Install. Modding your Jeep Wrangler doesn't get any easier than this. Simply unscrew your old antenna and screw in the new one. It can be installed in under five minutes.

Application. This RedRock 4x4 13" Trail Short Antenna is designed to fit all 2007-2018 Jeep JK Wranglers, including the 2-door and 4-door models.

I have a 2015 JK and purchased this antenna I haven't even taken it out of the package but the screw in part is way bigger than my current antenna and I'm not even going to attempt to screw it in because you can clearly see it won't fit from the package. I though this for 07-current jeeps. Am I missing something?

    Quick, easy upgrade!

This is the easiest upgrade you will ever make to your Jeep. Literally seconds to unscrew the factory antenna and screw on the shorty. Absolutely no tools needed. Looks great and functions just as good as the 35" factory antenna. I have experienced no change at all in FM radio reception.

OK for what it is, not great

The overall look is much better than stock. Reception is mediocre at best. Received the antenna and I already looked weathered. Not actually black more of a gray. Use armor all to try to rejuvenate, but still does not look black.

    An Excellent shorty antenna

I was skeptical at first but over all i love the look and its been working great. Installation was a breeze. I recommend a cresent wrench to get off your stock 35" antenna. I believe I used a 3/8 wrench and it worked like a charm. To install your new one just screw it on tight and your good to go. It adds a more rugged look while getting rid of that ugly chrome stock antenna that always hits tree branches and whips around.

    Wobbly Antenna

The product is very poor quality. The antenna wobbles on the threads of the screw. Maybe I just have a defective item, but I would stay clear. There are other models that are the same price but higher quality.

    Not for rural areas

Works fine in the city but not in rural areas and i mean you will get no reception at all from some stations. I only live 25 miles from downtown Cincinnati and get no reception from my favorite station with this antenna when i got it as clear as can be with the stock antenna

Lasted a whole 1 hour before breaking

It installed well, but the black plastic part at the base of the unit was either broken when I got it and I did not know it, or something hit it and it broke. Either way, the part at the bottom end just did not hold up. Unfortunately, I can't send it back because I did not keep the packaging and don't have the pieces that broke off. Sigh. Oh well. I'll upload a photo shortly.

Nice smaller antenna for your Jeep. It is a bit flexible so catches my eye sometimes moving in the wind while driving sometimes. Radio works just as well as it did with the factory antenna.

no more antenna whip in a car wash or in wind. I live in South Dakota and the wind blows all the time. the stock antenna was really annoying whipping around all the time and in the car wash it would whip against the window and body. this stubby antenna looks great, has good reception, and install in a dew mins excellent product
