    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the Oracle LED Waterproof Headlight Halo Kit fitting all 2007 and up JKs. Today we're gonna talk through the installation of this Halo Kit, as well as the construction and some of the features. Halos on a Jeep are definitely going to be one of those polarizing mods. Some of you love them and others think that they're too ricey or change that iconic front end of the Jeep a little bit too much. However, if you fall into the camp of liking the look of the Halo whether because you think it makes the Jeep look more modern, or you just like the unique look, this is going to be a unique way to attain that look. What makes these a unique Halo Kit is they're waterproof and they're designed to stick right on the outside of the headlight. Other versions of Halos require you to bake open the factory or aftermarket reflector housings to install them, and this is going to be a much easier installation. Now because these are waterproof so and more goes into the design and manufacturing, and the fact that they're Oracle, which are known to make a high quality component, means that these are going to be more expensive than some of the other Halos on the market. Like I said, these Halo's are designed to stick right on the outside of your headlights. So what makes these different from a lot of the other Halos that Oracle, and other brands offer are that these are waterproof. Of course they need to be, they're going to be exposed to the elements. And the way that Oracle does that is by putting a polycarbonate lens over the LEDs themselves, and then filling that with a resin, making everything good and watertight. As far as the construction goes, these are a six layer board, which makes them really rigid. They have all of these SMD or Surface Mount Device, or in this case Surface Mount Diodes, around the outside producing a bright white light. Although, when I tested these out they did show up a little bit more blue than white, and these do come with a two wire pigtail that has a connector that will connect them directly in to the LED drivers that Oracle supplies with this kit. From there you just have to pick up a power and a ground, which a lot of you will pick up from your running lights or a separate switch, and you're done. This installation is going to be very easy because again these are designed to go on the outside of your headlights, and they are completely waterproof. Now we've already touched on the installation a little bit, but as you may have gathered, these are going to be a very simple one out of three wrenches. Although there is a little bit of wiring involved, it is a fairly simple process. The first thing you need to do as with anytime you're working with 3M adhesive is to properly clean the surface. These are actually going to attach to the headlight bezels instead of the actual headlight. So that's the area you want to clean. You can use any alcohol based cleaning product to clean any dirt, dust and debris off of those housings. Then if you do have an adhesion promoter, you can coat the bezel with that, and that'll make sure that these Halos stick and stay stuck. After that, it's a simple matter of removing the 3M adhesive backing off of the Halo, and then sticking it into place. Before you do that, you are going to want to feed your wiring between the headlight housing itself, and the grill getting it into the engine bay. Once you have everything stuck down, you'll simply plug the Halo into the driver that's included, stretch the wiring out to get your two leads to where you need to pick up power and ground. If you are gonna be wiring these into your parking lights, you can pick up power and ground right at the front corners of the Jeep. If you'd prefer to wire these to a switch, you are gonna have to do a little bit more work by pulling the wires through the firewall and installing a switch in your Jeep. Again, the whole process will take you probably around an hour, depending on the wiring that you do. And you won't need any specialty tools, just a good alcohol based cleaner. Like I said at the top of the video, these are gonna be a little bit more expensive than some of the other Halo's on the market, but when you consider the fact that these are a high quality product, that they include the drivers, and everything you need to get them wired up, and that they are waterproof, which means there's more that goes in to producing these, all of a sudden you start to understand where the price tag comes from. So as I mentioned before, if you like this look, and you want something that's easy to install, that doesn't require breaking open the headlight, and is going to last a long time, these are a great option. So if you like the look of a Halo on your Jeep, but you're not interested in opening up the headlights to install one, this waterproof version from Oracle is a really nice option. These are gonna be more expensive than some of the other Halo's on the market, but I think that it's worth it for the quality and the ease of installation. So that's my review of the Oracle LED Waterproof Headlight Halo Kit fitting all 2007 and up JKs that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com

Can a regulator of some kind be installed to change the brightness? I have some Oracle led halos (blue). They are way to bright. Looks cool just to bright at night.

    • It would be best to consult with Oracle directly on this matter. We are unaware of any way to adjust the brightness on the Oracle LED Waterproof Headlight Halo Kit.

      Great product

Great product and simple installation, only thing was when I looked up videos on installation they said to hook it up to the parking lights which are also the turn lights. I found it more effect to hook up to my fog lights instead

      Great mod!

These external halo rings definitely add some character to your Jeep! I recommend purchasing T Tap electrical connectors to easily tap into your parking lights, and some electrical tape to properly secure your connections from water and dust/dirt. Installation for a total novice (me) took 40 mins, but that's because I wanted to be extra careful what I was doing and ensuring all the wiring was tucked and stowed neatly. And yes, these Halo's are BRIGHT!

      Dead LED after 60 days

They replaced them but just a hassle to have them start going out so quick. I do love the look and how bright they are.

      THESE BABIES ARE SWEET

I have the Mango Tango JKU so these Amber Halos perfectly accent the color. They took about 5 minutes to install and splice and they turn heads INSTANTLY whenever I have them on. If you're thinking about getting them, DO IT; you wont regret it. NOTE: If you get them, splice into the FOG lights or aux source, not the parking lights (as suggested). This way you can turn them off and on as needed without being on constantly if you have your headlights on.
