    Hey, guys. I'm Ryan with extremeterrain.com, and this is my review of the Magnaflow Black Axle-back Exhaust fitting on 2007 to 2016 JKs. I like this exhaust system for those of you who are looking for a lower exhaust note and a little more volume from your Jeep, especially with on high RPM like when emerging into traffic. Now, if tone and volume aren't that important to you, but looks are, this is still a great example. This does come in at a higher price point, but Magnaflow has always made a premium product, and this is just another example of that. Like I said, this is a premium part. The muffler is built from 16 gauge 409 stainless. The inlet pipe is two-and-a-half inch mandrel bent tubing, so it will meet right up to your factory exhaust on the Jeep, and on the outlet side, you have dual three-and-half-inch tips. The whole thing is finished off with a black high temp coat. The muffler features the street through flow design, which does a really nice job of balancing both tone and volume. Like I said, this is quality. You can really tell when you look at the weld and when you look at the finish. Speaking of that finish, if you do a lot of off-roading or if you live in a rust belt like we do, you may eventually see a little bit of surface corrosion on the exhaust. But don't worry, it won't affect the performance. Installing one of these Axle-back systems on your JK could not be any easier. There's one bolt to remove. You take down the old system and put the new one in place. The whole install should take you less than an hour. I do have a couple of install tips. If you're having trouble getting the factory system out of the rubber hangers, you can apply a little grease. It should pop right out. Another area that you may have a little issue is if you have a lot of rust on that factory clamp, you might have some trouble getting the bolt out. If that's the case, don't be afraid to cut off that clamp. The system comes with a new one so you have everything you need to get back on the road. Now this is one of the most expensive Axle-back systems we have, but like I said before, this is a quality product. You can really see the build quality when you look at the fit and the finish, and you can tell that you're getting a premium product at a premium price. So if you're looking for an exhaust system that will give you that lower exhaust note and a little bit more volume, or you just want something to dress up the look of the rear view Jeep, this is a good system for you. It's a high-quality system at a higher price point that both looks and sounds great.         I see it says fits 07-17 jk unlimited in the title. But in the description it says it fits 12-17 jk unlimited. Will it fit my 2010 jk unlimited?

        • The Magnaflow Performance Series Black Axle-Back Exhaust will fit all 2007-2017 Wranglers.

        Would it fit with an AEV rear bumper with tire carrier? And does it worsen your clearance or has anybody dented any of the two tips going off road and coming down some rocks? Really want this muffler but if it lowers my clearance or I could possibly dent any of the two tips, I wouldn't want to get it.

        • The Magnaflow Performance Series Black Axle-Back Exhaust System can be adjusted during installation to ensure proper clearance of aftermarket bumpers. Magnaflow recommends at least 1/2 inch of clearance between the exhaust and bodywork. Overall clearance for the rear underside of the Jeep will be diminished with the installation of this exhaust but it should not increase the likely hood of any damage off-road.

        I see that it says it fits jk unlimited 7-17 but in the description it says "specifically made for 12-17". Will it still fit my 2010 jku or do I need to purchase the exhaust hanger kit for $11.49 also?

        • Magnaflow states that this exhaust will fit the 2007-2017 JEEP WRANGLERS 3.6L and 3.8L. Therefore it should fit all years for the JK and JKU models.

            New magnaflow install

            Installed my magnaflow muffler in about 2 hours. Don't be in a hurry. Use wd40 it gets in the rubber hangers better than the soap did. I first had to borrow a neighbors impact driver. This broke the nut loose otherwise dont think I could have removed it. I then removed the driver's side hanger. Struggled some using a pair of channel lock pliers with enough pressure and movement it finally came loose. Then moved to passenger side hanger. There is less space to work. I struggled enough had to rest in between attempts. I thought I would need to bring it to a muffler shop to finish. After resting I used more wd40 and just pulled in the right position and the hanger slipped out. Finally sprayed the muffler with wd40 and began moving up and down slowly a little at a time. It eventually came loose. It can be done alone but take your time. Finished install the muffler sounds great. Not loud even with top off. The wind sound is greater than any muffler sound. Super start up sound. No drone noise. Extremely pleased with adding on my jeep.

            Nice upgrade for sound

            Install on this was very difficult due to stock exhaust being rusted, once off new exhaust went on nicely. Not rating on install, but the sound was not as much of a change as expected. Nice low tone however and drone inside car is not bad at all at high speeds. Would recommend this exhaust for a slightly lower exhaust note.

            Warranty

            Installed easily and sounded great for about 8 months. Then muffler seams started coming apart causing loud unwanted noise. Magnaflow would not warranty. Thankfully Extreme Terrain came through with a replacement. After reading all the reviews I am hoping this was a rare defective muffler. However I am extremely disappointed with customer service received from Magnaflow.

            Love this axle back exhaust

            I wanted a new exhaust, so I went and got this, this product is very good material and came in couple days , if you have the money definitely get this, has a very nice sound to it, nothing the the stock exhaust. I put this in myself within a hour, if you have another person to help definitely get it. Kinda tricky to get the stock exhaust off but it comes off with a lot of wd-40

            The Sickest Growl

            This exhaust is extremely well built. You can feel the quality right out of the box (heavy duty) This exhaust hits a nice beautiful low note makes my jeep on acceleration sound like it is ready for the track. I paired it with a mopar cold air intake and the accelerator is much more responsive. Jeep no longer is gasping for air it's like a thoroughbred ready to go. I am so amped by the new feeling I am considering an edlebrock super charger. I'll leave you guys I suspense for now

            Sweet Wrangler Sound

            Great product, easy to install. Adds a great look to your Jeep and the sound is just right. Was able to install with one person easily. I did watch videos to ensure I wasn’t going to break the whole exhaust system loose as you do need to rock the muffler back and forth both taking off and putting on. It is pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. Packing was excellent and the finish on the muffler is awesome.

            Just what I was looking for

            I got tired of my jeep sounding like a wind up toy but I didnt want a super loud exaust system This kit gave me the exact deep note I was looking for without sounding like a Honda Accord. That being said, it was dinged up and scratched in some areas out of the package but I'm not too concerned with it looking pretty.

            This is how a Jeep should sound!

            Oh man - I am SO happy with this exhaust from Magnaflow! I really debated between a couple of the axle-back systems, and am really glad I landed here. This system has a truly primo sound...daily driving you can tell there's something special, but it's not overly intrusive. And when you really get on the gas, it gets plenty loud. Combine the unique sound with the look of the dual black exhaust and it really sets this Jeep apart. I love it!

            Awesome Exhaust

            This product has totally made a huge different on my jeep. I purchased the Ingen cold air intake and the Magnaflow exhaust together. I know for a fact each one complements the other. The extra pickup when leaving a stopped position and when accelerating down a long stretch of road is amazing. The sound is a great low tone and you feel the power. My gas mileage has been extended by about 5 miles as well. The hardest part of the install was removing the old exhaust. I would highly suggest getting a medium length pry bar for getting the old exhaust from the rubber hangers.

            Great look

            Like everyone else said, getting the old muffler off was the hardest part. Once done, the install took minutes. I noticed acceleration increase immediately. Now, the Jeep sounds less like a rice burner and has a nice purr to her when we’re moving down the road.
