    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, I'm Ryan from Extreme Terrain and this is my review of the RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle Back Exhaust that fits all 2007 to 2016 Jeep JKs, both 2-door and 4-door. As you can see, the system is offered in both black and stainless finishes. This is a great exhaust for those of you who spend most of the time on the road or on light trails without a lot of tail-pipe crushing obstacles. For those of you who spend more time on the rocks, you want to look at our high-clearance exhaust systems that tuck everything up and out of the way. When you're shopping for an axle back exhaust for your Jeep, you're really looking at three factors, one being sound, of course, the second being build quality, and the third being the looks. Now, no axle back is going to provide huge power gains to your JK. The exhaust is not the most restrictive part of the system, so opening it up isn't going to give you a ton more power. And unfortunately, no axle back is going to make your V6 sound like a V8. That being said, this exhaust will give you a nice low note. You'll definitely notice more of a growl, especially during the higher RPM band when you get into the throttle getting onto an on-ramp, for instance. I give it about a two out of five on loudness. You'll get a little bit more sound, but you'll definitely notice the lower note. And when it comes to the quality of the construction, these are really solid, especially for a budget system. They don't sound tinny. They've got a nice heavy weight to them. The welds are consistent, they look really strong. And the finish is great in both black and in stainless. They use the same 409 stainless material as some of the most expensive systems, so they should hold up for you in the long run. And if you were to have any problems in the first three years, RedRock 4x4 offers a three-year warranty. And finally, visually, the systems look great. You get the dual outlet exhaust that gives your Jeep a tough look, and you get to choose between either the stainless with the polished tips, or the black to really customize the look of your rig.The install for this system could not be any easier. You need one wrench to loosen and re-tighten three different bolts, and it uses all the factory hangers. On a scale of one to five, this is definitely a one. You can probably get this done in less than an hour with normal hand tools. You don't even need to call a friend for an extra set of hands. Now if you want to see what other people are saying about this exhaust system, make sure you check out the customer-submitted reviews on the website. And if you're having trouble deciding between black or stainless, there are tons of customer-submitted pictures. So for you guys that are staying on the road or on the light trails and want that nice low exhaust note and a custom look, this is the perfect system for you. It's really well-built for the budget, and shares a lot of features with the more expensive systems that we offer. So that's my review of the RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle Back Exhaust. For more reviews, check out extremeterrain.com. In the meantime, I'm Ryan, thanks for watching.

        • This exhaust is going to hang in the same position as the factory exhaust and the muffler would also be at a similar height.

            Great addition to my JKU!

Perfect fit except for having to bend heat shield a bit to avoid contact with muffler. Easy install! My Jeep is a 2013 and is not listed below. Have to check a box to continue this review so please don’t be confused that I’ve checked one of the boxes.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle-Back Exhaust w/ Polished Tips (07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK)

            Poor Fit

I would not recommend this item at all. I just received mine and installed it and it is a lousy fit. There is a slot to slide past a tab on the exhaust pipe when you push the exhaust on. This slot was off by a half a slot and had to be modified to get it on. The hanger rods that fit into the rubber brackets were not bent correctly and the right side will not stay in the rubber hanger due to the angle it is bent. Also, due to the way they are bent the right side tail pipe is higher then the left side. The exhaust itself if up against the body and melted a rubber water drain plug in the rear cargo area of my Jeep. It also rattles against the under body due to the poor match up to the rubber hangers. This is on a 2017 JK Rubicon. This is the third item I have purchased from Extreme Terrain and two out of the three have not fit correctly and have to be modified to fit. This exhaust and a rear bumper have not fit even closely. Both have been way off! I have spent over a thousand dollars and am very displeased with the quality of there products fit. I would think after two bad reviews from me I would hear from someone in their customer service area but I guess they have my money and could care less. This will most likely be my last purchase from them!

Review from RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle-Back Exhaust w/ Polished Tips (07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK)

            Great muffler!

I bought my Jeep used. I liked the rumble of the exhaust that was on it, but rust got the better of the part, I found my exhaust pipe hanging, I needed something NOW and it being the holidays I needed affordable. This fit the bill! It's only a little quieter then what was there (flowmaster) which is fine with me since it's my daily driver and I like to hear the music I'm playing or my passengers. It would have been easy to install but the dummy that put on the exhaust I bought it with tack welded it on, so I was forced to take it to a shop to have the install done, since i could get the old one off. Bottom line great product! Great price!

Overall it is a pretty low tone. It's not too loud, but if you accelerate it gets a little louder (obviously).

            Awesome

This was an easy and inexpensive way to set my Jeep apart from the rest of the pack. It looks and sounds good. It took a little longer to install because I installed a hitch while I had the original muffler off, but once it was on the black exhaust looked so good on my black Rubicon.

            Disappointing

Was very excited to install this and a little skeptical based on the mix of the reviews. It appeared as the general consensus was that this was mildly loud at 2000–2500 RPMs. Product arrived in flimsy cardboard box with very little protection. Upon opening, there were some paint chips the size of a dime. Went ahead and installed because I wasn’t buying it expecting a pristine finish, based on the price. Clamps were of decent quality and the installation was straightforward. Having the correct exhaust pliers and silicone grease makes it VERY easy. The disappointment came from the overall loudness and continued drone at all RPM levels. Could feel the loudness when driving. It somewhat tapered off in 6th gear at 55mph, but way too loud the majority of the time. I called ET customer service to ask about a return or replacement. I was told nothing could be done because it was installed...which I understand. I was told I’d need a report from a mechanic that their product was defective. Not exactly sure why I have to spend time and money to troubleshoot a new product for ET. I asked to speak to a supervisor, as I’m sure the person I spoke with has limited authority...I get it. I was told that no supervisor was available and just repetivelt told there is nothing that can be done. It was a very poor customer service experience and I was quite shocked at the brevity. Can’t say I have ever written a review before that was negative, but this overall ET experience was very disappointing. As the saying goes, buyer beware.

            nice muffler for the price

Was a bit tough to get OEM muffler off (rubber grommets). Also after going through complete install, starting the Jeep, found that muffler rattled against heat shield. Had to remove and cut OEM exhaust pipe about 2 inches to get new muffler to slide up farther, stopping the heat shield contact.

100 percent love the quality and ease of installation. The sound that this exhaust makes as I’m driving is music to my ears. Not to loud but just the right amount of sound. If you’re looking for an axle back exhaust this is the one.

            Great, okay fit

Sounds great, was a pain to get the stock exhaust off but the installation of this part once removed was a breeze. I gave this product four stars only because the passenger side bracket arm does not slide into the housing well and will come loose from time to time. Other than this, I am very pleased with my purchase.

Nice change, but maybe too much?

I wanted a bit of a "tougher" sound from the 3.6L, which this provides, although I almost think it's too much at times. Overall, it gave me what I wanted, and I like the dual exhaust look. Easy install too, though it hangs a wee bit off balance - I may try and resolve that, but I'm not sure how much anyone would notice.
