Hey, guys. It's Sara with extremeterrain.com. And today, we have a review and install of the RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Exhaust with Black Tips, fitting your '07 through '18 Jeep Wrangler JK. This is perfect for the Jeep owner who's looking for a budget-friendly exhaust that's gonna give you a bit deeper and louder sound over factory and the improved style of the dual black tips. This dual-tip exhaust features a low restriction muffler, as well as 409 construction with a nice black finish. This is also available in polished. So, as far as sound goes, I'm gonna give this one a two out of five on the loudness meter. It does have a bit of an improvement over factory, but because this is not the most restrictive part of the system, it's not going to be crazy loud. So, this option is great for the daily driver or for someone who takes their Jeep light offroading. After taking in some hardcore offroading situations or rock crawling, this is not gonna be the best choice because of the clearance. While there is a little bit more clearance around the muffler area because it is smaller, there's not much more where the tips are concerned. So, if you are doing some rock rolling, you might wanna consider a high clearance exhaust option. So, as far as price goes, this one comes in at around $275, making it the most budget-friendly axle-back option for your Jeep. I'm giving this install one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. This exhaust features direct bolt-up installation and can be done within one hour. All right, so with that said, let's jump into our install. For this install, you will need an impact gun or a ratchet, an exhaust hanger removal tool, and a 15-millimeter socket. All right, so, with the Jeep in the air, and you do not need a lift for this install, but we're using one to give you a better look at the underside of this exhaust, grab a 15-millimeter socket and remove the clamp that's holding on the back portion of your exhaust to the front portion. This over axle pipe is staying in place so we're moving this clamp right here. Next up, we're gonna remove the exhaust from the hangers. It may help to spray a little bit of lubricant on these hangers so they can slide out of the bushing a little easier. Repeat that with the other hanger on the opposite side. With both of the hangers free, you can wiggle the back part of the exhaust off of the clamp. All right, now that we have our factory exhaust uninstalled from our Jeep, we can check it out side by side with this new exhaust. So, the first thing you may have noticed is this one features a dual exit where the factory only has that single slash-cut pipe. This one features some nice roll tips. It features 409 stainless construction, which is not quite as nice as a 304 system would be, but it's still definitely an upgrade over your factory system. And we finished it off with this nice black finish, which is also available in polished. One more thing to note with this exhaust is that it's quite a bit smaller than your factory system, and they've angled the muffler up quite a bit. We're just gonna give you a little more clearance over the large muffler of your factory system. All right, so with that said, let's jump right into our install. Before we install the exhaust on the Jeep, slide your clamp up and over. Now, we can install the exhaust portion. And there is a notch on the front of the pipe, you wanna try to line that up, similar to factory. Once you install the exhaust over the pipe, install the hangers. Line up the clamp over top of your exhaust. Grab your 15-millimeter socket and tighten it down. At this point, you can install the tips. Make sure you're putting the clamp on first. Install the tip over top. You can align it as you go. Line it up so your tip is even. Align your clamp. And then using a 15-millimeter socket, tighten it down. All right, so, that's gonna do it for the view and install of this RedRock 4x4 exhaust. Remember for all things Jeep, keep it at extremeterrain.com.

Great Sound with a Great Look
The RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Exhaust is just what I wanted. Looks Great and Sounds Great. I was cautious because some reviews said it was too loud... I disagree. It has a nice drone to it but not annoying loud nor does it turn heads in the wrong way. The product did ship in a box that was mangled and open but Extreme Terrain stepped up and took care of me. I would highly recommend.Helpful (0)

Really like it. Sounds and looks great. It is a bit louder on the inside of the Jeep than I wanted but it is something I will get used to. Great axle back exhaust without breaking the bank.Helpful (0)

Great sound, better on a manual transmission
This set up was easy to install, doesn’t sound raspy at all and has a low sounding note at idle. On acceleration it barks and mellows out at around 2k revs. Moderate drone in my 2018 2dr. JK at 1500 revs. But tolerable. The 2.6 will never sound like a V8 but that’s to be expected. With a cold air system and throttle body spacer it sound more like a performance euro racer than a raspy ricer.Helpful (0)

Dual exhaust install on 08 wrangler.
When it was delivered, one of the hangers was punched out of the side of the box. I’m Unsure if this affected the alignment later on. These points should have some kind of foam protected material. Muffler went on very easily after sanding the old pipe. Had to bend one of the hangers slightly to level off the muffler once again this could’ve been due to the poor packaging. Clamping onto the old pipe there was still a gap of exhaust coming out. I went to the automotive store and got muffler paste and smeared around the pipe fittings. It all went on really easily and I do like the look and sound from outside. Inside though, it does sound like a bad muffler at certain rpms but oh well I know it’s sounding great and I’ll get used to it.Helpful (0)

Good at first, but quality wore out quickly
So at first I loved this addition. Install was simple; just a little tricky removing the stock exhaust beforehand. Loved the sound (still hasn’t changed) and it provided a cooler, more aggressive look to the jeep. After 5-6 months, the color started to fade a little. No biggie, is to be expected with the exhaust. But after about a year, the entire thing looks gross and rusted. Again, no change to sound or performance, but now it looks like it’s been submerged in the ocean for years. Rather than replacing, I’ll probably find a way to scrape the rust off and coat it in something more heat resistant/less prone to rust. But again, it’s just additional work that shouldn’t be an issue in the first place.Helpful (0)

I love it
It’s got a beautiful drone when idling and accelerating it sounds amazing. It’s meaty and inside I don’t have to yell at my passenger to talk. Great for the price. The only downfall was taking off the old exhaust.Helpful (2)

works great, sounds great and worth the money. however muffler does rub against heat shield. and causes squeaking sound at idle and while driving.Helpful (2)

Great addition and easy install on '17 JK
Easy to install, muffler hanger pliers recommended, less than an hour out of your time to get a great look and great sound to your ride. I have a Black on Black '17 Sahara, with winter pkg, Sound is a mild rumble and not to radical. Fit is good with minor adjustments to align tips and heat shield contact...Great look and purchase for DIY guys!Helpful (2)
Where is this muffler manufactured?
The RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle-Back Exhaust is made in China.
I’ve ordered multiple items from Extreme and had a great experience!! Now...does this exhaust hang lower than the factory setup? Not the pipes as it appears so, but the muffler itself specifically.
This exhaust is going to hang in the same position as the factory exhaust and the muffler would also be at a similar height.
Does this change the sound of the jeep exhaust at all?
The RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle-Back Exhaust w/ Black Tips will change the sound of your Jeep as the axle back is the main part of the exhaust that's creates the certainsound of the vehicle.
In the majority of the user supplied pictures of this unit installed, the driver's side exhaust tip appears to hang significantly lower that the passenger side tip. Is this to be expected, or is this an installation issue?
One tip may hang slightly lower than the other. Some tweaking during installation can prevent this.
What is the performance increase? ... and, does it hang higher than the stock unit?
This exhaust is going to hang in the same position as the factory exhaust and the muffler would also be at a similar height. You may be able to raise the exhaust bymodifying the brackets to make the exhaust sit higher.
You can add a different style of tip on the exhaust, you will need a tip that can accommodate 2.5" diamter pipes. The tip would not change the tone or volume of the exhaust.
The RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle-Back Exhaust will seal by the clamp, with no sealant required.
This would fit both 2 and 4 door wranglers.
This is a Low Restriction Turbo Style Muffler, so it will indeed be chambered.
There is not an HP rating on the exhaust, however, being less restrictive than the factory exhaust you can notice some gains in power as well as a better sound.
This has 2.5" tubing. Tips meant for 2.5" exhaust should be compatible.
The RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle-Back Exhaust will not feature a warranty outside of 30 days. An additional warranty can be purchased at check out.
Unfortunately we cannot confirm fitment with European models.
The RedRock 4x4 Dual Outlet Axle-Back Exhaust installs after all emissions control devices, so it will not effect SMOG testing. We are unable to determine if this meets your local noise ordinances and regulations.
We advise listening to many sound clips for in and out of Jeep drone. Sound is preference and therefore subjective.
