      Review & Installation Video

Hey guys, Kevin from Extreme Terrain, and this is my review of the Barricade Tubular Rear Bumper with Wrap-around Corners. If you're trying to elevate your 2007 through 2016 JK or Wrangler style Jeep, away from the plastic bumper crowd into something that looks a little beefier without spending a whole lot of money, well, this bumper is a really good value. It looks like it's really strong, but it's actually quite lightweight. The benefit here is that you can facilitate a larger rear tire. There's one thing to think about here though, with the wrap-around corners, unlike a plate steel bumper, if you come down off an obstacle hard core wheeling, there's a good chance that you can stuff this up into the body work, causing yourself some body damage. So, again, don't ask the product to do more than it's designed to do. This is designed to look really good, and guess what, it looks really good. Powder coated wrinkle finish. It looks nice and tough, and installation is really straightforward. It's a very simple bolt-on. That's surprising how light this thing feels because it looks much heavier than it is. Again, this is a style over function part, but it does look good. For a price point of less than $200. It's an excellent price and definitely an upgrade over the stock plastic bumper, giving a lot more protection than the stock plastic bumper.Installation is easy. It's a no-drill installation. The brackets seemed to fit really well, and you can get it done with a metric socket set and some open end wrenches. [Inaudible 00:01:19] fall back is the electric impact wrench, and it can really speed things up. Now, here's something that I actually really like. Look how much it's opened this up in here. So you're not gonna come into contact with your tires, even if you go up a larger wheel and tire diameter. That's the last thing you're ever gonna have to think about. Now, I particularly like the wrinkled black powder coat, and my personal experience is when it's really muddy and the mud gets dried and caked on, you can still pressure wash it, getting it looking back as good as new. Having said that, if the wrinkled black is not your flavor, you can also get it in gloss black. You're gonna pay a little bit more. Speaking of money, this is a great value. Less than $200 and let's face it, it's an upgrade. It's an upgrade over stock for strength, and it's an upgrade over stock for looks. Whether you're building your Jeep in stages, like a lot of us do, if you want a good, better, best scenario and eventually you're gonna work your way up to a nice heavy duty, plate steel bumper, this is a nice transition. And it's a cool upgraded look. Whether you're crawling the mall or crawling the trail, this'll actually be a little bit better and a little bit stronger than the stock one. And one last thing, if you don't like the wrap-around ends, it is available in just a straight cut bumper. So that's my review of the Barricade Tubular Rear Bumper with the Wrap-around Ends. You can pick it up at Extreme Terrain.

Versatile, Good Looking. Easy to mount

My wife and I are in our 70s. We pull an r-pod trailer with our 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Unlimited and have a Sea Eagle FSK-16 inflatable fishing boat and Honda 5 HP outboard that we carry on a Barricade roof rack system. We needed a new bumper that would allow the Barricade roof rack to be bolted to the frame while still having a bit of a side curl, clear a Draw-Tite class III hitch and leave room for weight distribution while also allowing us to mount a TadiBrothers camera and a hoist to the back bumper. This does it all. Looks great. Not a rock climber bumper, for tough pulls, we have a Barricade full width front bumper with Smittybilt X2O 10K winch. But it is a great platform for all our other needs and looks great too with the tubular roof rack and the tubular light protectors. I installed it in 2 hours. Had a friend use a torque wrench to finish it up.

        3 Monkey's screwing in a lightbulb

The product arrived as promised. I had 2 friends of mine help me out to remove the old and to install the new. Took about 2.5 hours and a 6-pack, but it looks great. The only thing now is I'll need to get the rear frame cover as now that is exposed. Make sure you get that ordered as well. Great product guys.

5 2017 Wrangler - JohnM Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Great old school look

Picked this up for the look and to get a little more protection over the stock plastic bumper and because I backed into a post and put a pretty good dent in the stock one. Removal of the stock part took as long as the install, about 20 minutes each. Tow hook took about 5 min. To remove. A lot easier than expected, but my JKU is fairly new (2017). Got it I stalled and level. Looks.good and beefy. Only part I don't like.is the area between the bumper and tub where you can see the frame and hitcj.

        Light and strong

This was a perfect addition to our build. We currently have a Garvin Expedition rack on top of our JKU and needed something sturdier to use a launching pad for our ladder use. The plastic stock bumper felt like it couldn't hold us. This bumper is secure enough to hold one foot as we push off to jump on the ladder.

I bought a brand new 2017 Jeep Wrangler Willy. I ordered it with the tow package/tow hitch. Will this bumper interfere with a stock jeep tow hitch and wiring? Thanks -Mike

      • Hello, this should not interfere with the tow hitch and the wiring for it.

I purchased a barricade roof rack part# J100173, will it work with barricade bumper part# J100527 without interference? Looking to replace oe bumper I had to modify to install roof rack iI purchased.

      • This bumper wraps around and will interfere with the rack's frame mount. That being said, you can still use the rack via a body mount, but that option does require drilling.

I recently bought the barricade roof rack anf basket for my 2008 JK and took the rear bumper off verses drilling holes in the body. Will this bumper fit with this rack installed?

      • Hello, yes, this bumper will fit with the Barricade Roof Rack installed.

Would this work with a Barricade Roof Rack? Looks like it does in one of the customer pics, but wanted to be sure.

      • While this bumper has not been tested with the Barricade Roof Rack it may fit like some people have done but clearance maybe close due to the wrap around design

Where can I find replacement caps for the ends of the Barricade rear tubular wrap around bumper?

      • Barricade does not offer those end caps separate from the bumper.

Hi, I have a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara and I have 35x12.50R18 BF Goodrich mud terrain tires on it. My question is will the wrap around tubular rear bumper allow the tail gate to swing out without the tire hitting the space they have for the bumper. Thanks for your time. 1 answer
I saw in the installation instructions that the tow hook will no longer be able to be used after installing this bumper. Would I still be able to hook a strap to the bumper to get towed out of a sticky situation (like I have used my tow hook for in the past)? 1 answer

Ok so I ended up buying the smittybilt (J17266) bumper in stead of this one due to the frame fill plates being available for it and not for this one. My question is are the ends of the barricade bumper also plastic caps like the smitybilt (J17266)? It's hard tell from the pictures. 1 answer
