High Performance. Re-gearing your Jeep Wrangler should go hand in hand with installing bigger tires. They should be done at the same time to help eliminate the fear of entering limp mode climbing hills and maintaining performance. Do your 2007-2018 JK Non-Rubicon and yourself a favor by upgrading to Yukon Gear 4.88 Gears. Not only will you enjoy and feel the difference in performance, but your Jeep Wrangler can even improve its MPGs. Install those much desired larger tires and rock crawl with ease with the installation of 4.88 Dana 30F/44R Gears.

Quality Construction. Featuring a heavy duty construction suitable for use both on the street or off-roading, the tight tolerances of these Yukon Gear Performance Ring and Pinion Gears provides easy set up and are extremely quiet when installed properly. Not only are they high quality and quiet, they are protected by Yukon Gear's 1-Year Warranty. They feature a premium design and use a high-tech technology in their manufacturing to provide unmatched gear solutions.

Re-Gearing. When you increase the diameter of your tires, the engine has to work twice as hard to turn them. Naturally, that will lead to increased fuel consumption and reduced performance. Anytime you re-gear your rig, you can regain lost acceleration, performance and fuel economy.

Application. The Yukon Gear Dana 30F/44R 4.88 Gears are designed to work on 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK, excluding Rubicon models. Please choose from the options above to order the Dana 30 - Front Reverse Gears only, the Rear Dana 44 Gears only or both the Dana 30 - Front Reverse and Rear Dana 44 Gears as a set.

Application Note. The Dana 30 4.88 Gears will require the use of a 3.73 and numerically higher carrier or an aftermarket locker. Upgraded carrier is required as factory carrier is not compatible.

I have 2014 rubicon with Dana 44 front and rear it has 4.10 I want to swap to 4.88 because I’m running 35” tires what all do I need to make the swap? Will the stock axles work?

    • For your 2014 Rubicon - you'd want the Rubicon gear set from Yukon, found here: https://www.extremeterrain.com/yukon-gear-dana-44f44r-488-gears-rubicon.html, and you'd also need install kits front and rear which can be found here: https://www.extremeterrain.com/wrangler-jeep-jk-ring-pinion-gears.html#shop-by10.

If I have 3.73 gears now (from factory) will I need anything extra to go to 4.88?

    • Thank you for your question! You will need an install kit with the Yukon Gear Ring Gear and Pinion Kit, but you will not need any other components to install these 4.88 gears.

I'm going from 3.21 to 4.88 on my Sahara. Do I need a new carrier in the front only or carriers for both axles?

    • When installing gearing 3.73 or larger into a Wrangler original equipped with a 3.21 gear ratio, both front and rear carriers would need replaced with ones capable of 3.73 and higher gear ratios.

I have a '17 sport unlimited with 3.21 gears. What do I need to completely change to 4.88?

    • Hello, for the Front Dana 30 axle, you would need a larger carrier that would accommodate larger gears. We only sell carriers as in the form of lockers, and not open carriers, which you can find here: http://www.extremeterrain.com/wrangler-jeep-jk-lockers-07.html#shop-by1

Great Ring Gear and Pinion Kit

I had a local mechanic install the kit and everything went well without any hitches. I did have to buy a bearing for the rear differential, but nothing else. I've put about 800 miles on them and everything works great. I've also tried them off road for quiet a few miles without any problems. The gears do get pretty hot right after first use. Make sure you follow manufacturer's recommendations for the first 500 miles.
