Ryan: This Fastback 2-in-1 Soft Top in black diamond is for those of you that have a four-door 2007 to 2018 JK that are looking for a top that is going to be a little bit less expensive than a factory style top, not going to have all of the frame and the frame hardware they can add some expense, is going to have a little bit of a unique look and also some unique functionality. This is going to be a pretty simple one out of three wrench installation, and we're gonna show you how to do it in just a second. So, when you are shopping for soft tops, you're going to find three main categories. Two are going to be factory-style tops. The first one is going to be just a soft material and the windows, if you have a soft top that's in good working order, you don't need a new frame. You don't need any of the hardware. You just need the soft top. That's going to be a replacement soft top. Then you're going to find your complete replacement soft tops. That's going to include not only the soft components but also the frame and all the hardware, and again, those two tops are going to be factory-style. The third category is going to be something like this top, where it's not going to be a factory-style top. Those are either going to add or subtract some features, and they can be more or less expensive than a factory-style top depending on the materials that they're made of, and, of course, the functionality. So, what this is going to be is a fastback 2-in-1 soft top. So, what that means is you're gonna have a little bit of that slant back to the rear window that's going to give your Jeep a little bit of a different look from the profile. And the fact that this is a 2-in-1 top means that it is going to be a safari top when the windows are zipped out. When you zip the windows back in, it is going to be a full soft top. But because this does not having full-on frame like a factory top does, it's not going to have the Sunrider feature where just the front half of the top flips back and it's also not going to completely fold down into the trunk space of the Jeep. So, again, that's gonna help to keep the cost down a little bit, give you a different look, but you're not going to have all of the factory functionality. Now, even though this subtracts a little bit of that factory functionality that I just talked about, this is going to add a couple of little things like some zippered in mesh pockets that can come in pretty handy, especially if you're driving around with the doors off your Jeep, you're gonna want to empty those pockets out to be able to zip stuff into those mesh pockets. Does ensure that it's not gonna fly away on you. And you do have that 2-in-1 look where you have that safari top very easily just by removing those windows. So, again, little bit of give and take in functionality here.As far as the quality goes, I do think this is a pretty well built top. This is the black diamond material, which is going to be very similar to a factory soft top material on an earlier year Jeep. Not that premium material that was available a little bit later, but that more traditional vinyl top material, which is gonna be just fine. It looks good. It's going to hold up pretty well. Is it going to be as good as that premium material? Probably not. It's not going to be as expensive. It's not going to be as heavy of a material, but it is still going to be a very good soft top. Now, for the functionality and for the quality that you're getting here, you're gonna pay right around that $400 mark, and I do think that's a pretty good deal for what you're getting. If you wanted to look at it this way, you could say you're getting two tops for that $400 price tag because you are getting that safari top and also that full soft top. Now, do keep in mind if you're running this top, you are going to need a couple of other components. You're going to need a header. You're also going to need a tailgate bar. So, do keep that in mind. If you are coming from a hardtop, those are pieces you're gonna have to purchase. If you already have a soft top that is in good working order, you can steal those parts from that, and you won't add anything to the cost. But again, if you're coming from a hardtop, you're gonna have to add those additional components, so do work that into the overall cost of running this top.So, as I said before, pretty easy installation here. We're gonna go with one out of three wrenches, and we're gonna show you how to do it right now.Man: Tools used for this job is a T25 Torx bit, 3/8 ratchet. Optional is a 3/8 impact. All right. To start, we're gonna be removing the side windows and the rear window and taking the soft top off completely. All right. Now that we're inside the Jeep, we are going to undo our header panel. Get that out of the way. All right. Now, we are going to lower the top down in the rearmost position. Now, our new soft top is a bowless system. We are gonna be using a T25 Torx head, and we are going to be removing the rear mounts. Just make sure you save the hardware for when you go back to your soft top. All right. Now, we're going to remove the soft top with a buddy. All right. Now that we have the old top off, we're ready to install our new summer header panel. This is not included in this top replacement. You will need to pick one up on extremeterrain.com, but the benefit is you can keep your old header panel on your other top, so when you switch from the summer top to the winter top, you're good to go. So, this is just going to sit just like that. And our next step is to actually bring the new top up and connect it to the clasps on the bottom. All right. So, I have the top already laid out on the hood. I'm going to bring the top up and underneath our new header panel. Now, you're gonna want to make sure your header panel is snuck in just like that. Clamp it down. Just a couple more left in the middle here. Now, with that in place, we're ready to install our latch, our new latch. All right. Now, I have three pieces for my new latch. We're gonna go in this order right here. I'm just gonna start a couple threads there. Make sure that this is lined up where it needs to be. And then this is gonna look exactly the same on the passenger side. Now, if your vehicle is equipped with these drip rails, they do just pop right out. Our new top is going to slide underneath that into that channel, and we're going to do that for both sides, front and back. All right. Now that you have your top secured up at the new header and your old drip rail is off, we're gonna start bringing the top back into its new position. All right. Now, once you're there, you're gonna take these sides, and you're gonna bring them down to underneath that rail you just exposed. Open the door to get a little more. You are gonna have a little extra play on this side until you tighten up the one on the passenger side as well. All right. Now, we're gonna be securing the center of our soft top to the center of our roll bar, and I'm just putting this hook through the roll bar itself and tightening it up a little bit. It's gonna be the same on this side as well. Tighten it up and has a little Velcro there to keep it out of the way, and we're gonna move onto the rear roll bar.All right, our next step is to secure the backside of the soft top. I'm going behind the seatbelt, crossed, and back through the plastic buckle. I'm gonna tighten that down and do the same on the other side. Should look just like that. All right. So, there are four total bars, two per each side. We are going to connect them and make them long, but before we do that, I'm gonna slide this one through the top and go all the way forward with it, and you'll see a spot right above where our new latches are for the flat end of this support bow to go into. And then this rear one with the dowel is going to go into the other end, and then there's another one of those pockets in the rear here. Now, we're gonna repeat the same for the passenger side. Run this one all the way up to the new header. All right. Now, we're gonna secure the fastback portion of the top to the Jeep. Just gonna tighten that up right there and do the same on the other side. All right. Now, we're going to finish up by installing the side windows. I'm going to loosen up the back strap here and kind of just flip it out of the way to expose our zippers. Bring this down, install it on the door. Install on the tub on the bottom section. All right. Then we're gonna do the other side and the back glass. All right. So, before we bring our flaps over to the sides, we are going to install this plastic support panel into the sleeve. Make sure it sits behind that, and then we can install. Repeat that for the other side as well. All right. Now, we're gonna install our rear glass. All right. Once you get your zippers all set, we're going to finish a couple things up on the top. Tuck some zippers down. Tighten up this clasp right here. Same thing on the other side. I'm going to bring this down as well. All right. Our last step is to install our door bar. We are using the factory door bar and slides on just like every other one. All right. Now, we're gonna put the door bar in. Put that into place. Get our sides back down. Finish off our zipper. And then we can bring our straps down. And they made a little slot here for you to go through and attach to your tub. We're gonna do that now. I'm gonna put it in backwards first and then flip it around. All right. That's gonna wrap up my install of the Fastback 2-in-1 Soft Top. And for all things Jeep, keep it here at extremeterrain.com.
