Construction. Teraflex provides this heavy duty, steel gas tank skid plate for TJs with a 1 inch body lift. Although finished in black paint, it's recommended to add a layer of undercoating for superior protection. This plate is shaped to clear your Jeep's track bar and differential.

Protection. This plate protects your gas tank from punctures, dents, or scratches, keeping your fuel where it belongs. Holes are drilled at the lowest point of the plate to prevent water and mud buildup in your Jeep's undercarriage.

Accessories. This plate comes with installation hardware, but if your TJ does not have a 1 inch body lift, you'll need a mounting kit that's sold separately (4970400).

Application. This plate is a direct bolt-on for 1997 - 2006 TJ Wranglers with a 1 inch body lift.

I already had a 1” body lift , so the teraflex gas tank skid was a perfect fit. It give me more ground clearance and added strength.

            Fits great and looks great!

It fit really good. Install was not to bad. Getting the tank straps back on is a bit of a pain tho. They barely fit, so getting a nut started is not easy. But man this thing gives you a lot more clearance and its a LOT stronger than the stock on that came on my 04. I have a 1" body lift and you will need at least a 1" to run this skid. Over all I am really happy with it and would buy it again no question!

            Well made

I bought this skid to replace the factory sheet metal cover. I was able to install skid, by myself, with simple hand tools and a floor jack and without any major fitment issues. I can’t speak for longterm durability but it’s already taken a few good hits without dents or any deformation. This skid will gain ground clearance by moving the gas tank up closer to the bottom of the tub, doing so will require a body lift to clear the top of the gas tank. Over all I am very happy with everything I’ve bought from teraflex including this gas tank skid.

heavy duty, but has an issue

This skid plate is heavy duty and well built. the only issue is it doe NOT clear the rear track bar. I have a 4 inch lift and the one I replaced had no problem. I shifted this one back (toward the rear) as far as the gas tank itself would let me. solid contact with the track bar when parked. I thought teraflex was better than that.

Great Product. Works Great! Looks Great! Relatively straightforward and easy installation if you have done a little research. Recommend watching Rokman video on youtube. Some other pointers on removal and installation. Of course the less fuel the better. When doing the install by yourself, the easiest way to lower and raise the gas tank into place, seems to be placing two jackstands on the forward portion of the tank, and lowering the rear portion with a jack, enabling access to your electrical harness, hp fuel line, and evap line. I recommend disconnecting the hp fuel line at the one of the two connections, located just inside the frame at the driver side rear tire. I compressed the tabs but still somehow snapped the plastic fuel connection nozzle, and ended up having to buy a new fuel pump. Removal/install much easier once its out of the vehicle. Tipping the tank to the filler/driver side in a half lowered position seems give greater access to the electrical harness. Gently use a micro screwdriver from the opposing side, to lift the inner tab, after removing the outer red tab, only if the harness button doesn't release the connection. The evap line on the passenger side has much more slack in the line and can be removed much easier when using two screwdrivers to pry back the two blue tabs on the connection. Everything else is pretty straight forward. I did have to use a pry bar, wedged off the track bar, to line up the forward bolts when remounting the gas tank skid. Putting them in first may alleviate that problem, or moving the gas tank more forward in the skid, as I centered it. Hope this helps.

            Really thick!

This will pay for itself when I inevitably smack the belly on some rocks! Really thick and heavy, should take some serious abuse
