Hey, what's up, guys? Ryan here from ExtremeTerrain and today I'm here with the Teraflex 9550 VSS Twin Tube Front and Rear Shocks for a 3 to 4-inch lift, fitting your 2007 to 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK. This is gonna be for the JK owner that is lifted and modified and is just looking to upgrade or replace those shocks with a heavy duty, high performance aftermarket option that is affordably priced. Now, whether you have an old, worn out lift kit with bent or blown out shocks or if you have a brand new lift kit and you're just not liking the way that it's riding, these are a great upgrade. These are a heavy duty shock that are designed for performance both on and off-road and they're very easy to install, and not only that but they come at a great price. Now, talking about the construction of these shocks, these are a twin tube design. The outer tube is gonna protect the inner tube in case you damage or dent it on the trail, which is gonna keep that shock safe. These are nitrogen-filled, which is gonna stiffen up the ride over a hydraulic shock, and they're also gonna provide a ton of performance without fading or building up heat. These have a large internal bore, which is gonna provide plenty of performance and dampening, reducing heat buildup and they even have an internal stop limiter that's gonna prevent you from over-compressing them. These are a very strong and tough unit and they come complete as a kit ready to bolt on and they even reuse that factory hardware, making for a very easy install. Now these shocks are VSS. They are vehicle specific shocks and they're specifically designed for your JK. Now these are a great upgrade and they'll work with any lift kit you have but they pair perfectly with Teraflex's own suspension system. Now, at $270, it's comparable to other shocks of lesser quality. However you're getting a very high quality shock that's gonna last you a long time. It's made by a reputable company and one of the best names in the business, making it a very good option to go with.As far as installation goes I'm gonna give this a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter as you can get these installed in about two hours just using basic hand tools. Now with that being said, let's hop into the install.Tools we used for this install: half inch drive impact, a hammer, vice grips, three-eighths drive impact, 16-millimeter socket, 18-millimeter socket, 14-millimeter wrench, 16-millimeter wrench, 18-millimeter wrench, and a very long three-eighths drive socket extension. Now these shocks are for a 3 to 4-inch lift, so if you're lifted you most likely have aftermarket shocks and you don't have factory shocks. I can't really show you how to take off the factory shocks but we do need to get those shocks out. First thing we're gonna do is support our axle, then we'll work on getting the bolts out.So once you support your axle we're gonna start with our bottom shock bolt. This is gonna be an 18-millimeter on both sides so we'll need a wrench and a socket, then we'll just go ahead and just pull that out. So after you get the bottom of the shock removed we're gonna remove the top of the shock. Now due to various different nut sizes that aftermarket shocks use, I don't necessarily know what size you'll need. However you need to get up to this nut up here. Most likely you're gonna have to grab the shock body with some pliers then we'll just take that nut off. We'll be able to pull the whole shock out.So to get to the top of the shock you have the underlying battery tray here. It would be a good idea to break some of this away, that way you can get better access to the top of that. And if your shaft decides to spin like ours is, what you can do is just take a pair of vice grips and grab right up here at the top. And that'll allow you to hold that in place while you break this nut free. Up here you're gonna have a metal cup washer and a rubber bushing. You can pull that out after you get the shock out. So you can do that same exact thing to get the other side uninstalled and then we can move onto the rear.So now that we're back here at the rear we're gonna do the same thing we did on the front. We're gonna start by supporting the axle. So this bottom bolt, you're gonna need an 18-millimeter socket and an 18-millimeter wrench. To get the top of the shock out you're gonna have two bolts up here. You'll need a 16-millimeter socket. I'm gonna use one on a long extension. So now that we got our shocks out we're gonna install our brand new shocks. These are relatively easy to install and they go in just like the old ones came out. So we're gonna start by feeding up this top end and getting these bolts started. Then we'll use that same 16-millimeter to tighten them up. So we're gonna get the bottom of the shock in. We're gonna reuse that factory bolt. You may need to lift up on the shock and fit it into its seat. Then we can reinstall that bolt. Then we'll use those 18s to tighten it up. So after you get this rear one installed you can do the same exact thing for the other side. After that we can go back up to the front and get those installed. So we're up here at the front, we're gonna install our front shocks. Now you get brand new hardware with this for the top. So what you're gonna do is you're gonna place one of these cup washers on here and you're gonna get another bushings. Now these bushings have two different ends so we're gonna face this wider section up. Once you get that on there you're ready to install it up into the mount. So we're just gonna go up into this mount just like this. So we wanna face this wider section down from the top. Gonna place that up, slide that onto our stud. Cup washer is gonna face down on the top. Then once we line that up we have a brand new nut that we're gonna install on the top. After that we're gonna take a 14-millimeter wrench and we're gonna tighten this nut up. So I'm gonna go to the bottom of this shock. All we have to do is put it in its mount, line it up and then reinstall that factory bolt. Then we can take our two 18s and tighten it up. So now that we have this shock installed you're gonna do that same exact thing to get the other one installed. So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install.
