Merideth: Hey, guys. So, today we're checking out the LUXX-Series LED Projector Headlights with the Alpha Black Housing and Clear Lens, fitting all 2012 to 2015 Toyota Tacomas. Now, if your factory headlights have seen better days, weather they're cracked or fogged up, this set will be a great choice to take a look into. Now, these will be a good pick for the Tacoma owner who wants an upgrade in not only lighting for better visibility out of the front end of their truck, but also in the appearance with a modernized and stealthy blacked-out look. These will feature an LED projector, high and low beam, that will outperform the factory light, offering brighter and cleaner visibility. Each headlight will also have a C-shaped white LED light bar on the outside, which will act as your daytime running light and will have an amber sequential function for the turn signal, making you super noticeable and stylish when driving around on the street. As it says in the name, this will have a premium alpha black polypropylene housing for an incredibly sleek look, and will include detailing inside of the light that you really can't miss when taking a closer look. Now in the front, each of these will also have an impact-resistant clear polypropylene lens to be able to take whatever is thrown at them, whether that's branches on the trail or any kick-up on the street. Now, the set will also be DOT and SAE-compliant, and will have a direct bolt-on application, making install straightforward. These will come in at roughly $1,000, putting these at a more premium price point compared to others on the page. Now, what stands out about these is the fully LED build, the stealthy appearance, and the switchback sequential functions. Now, other more cost-effective choices may include a hybrid halogen and LED build. They may not include the projector or may not integrate the turn signal into the light bar itself. Now, I think if you're looking for a premium headlight that's going to offer you the street appeal and lighting performance upgrade that you need for the front end of your Tacoma, then this is a great pick. Now, install will be a light two out of three ranges on the difficulty meter, taking you about an hour to get the job done with some basic hand tools. Now, at this point, we can head over to the shop and check out a detailed breakdown of the install and what that looks like step-by-step. So, that's gonna wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into it.Man: Tools required for this install include an impact gun, an electric ratchet, a couple of different-sized hand ratchets, a zip tie, a pair of needle-nose pliers, a clip remover tool, a flathead screwdriver, a panel remover tool, a shallow and deep 10-millimeter socket, and a 12-millimeter socket. What's up, guys? Today we're installing a set of headlights on our Tacoma. First, we're gonna watch a quick video on how to uninstall our factory headlights, and then I'll meet you right back here for the install.Woman: All right. So, the first step in our install, we're gonna remove several pop clips on each side of the grille to remove the grille itself. With a pop clip removal tool or a trim panel removal tool, go ahead and remove the pop clip. Remove the pop clip on the other side as well. At this point, you can remove two 10-millimeter bolts holding on the top of your grille. At this point, we can remove our grille, pull up on the plastic brackets on top, and then grab your grille and pull straight forward to release all the clips. All right. So, at this point, we're gonna remove the trim piece beneath the headlight. In order to do this, we're gonna grab a trim panel removal tool. And if you're worried about scratching your paint, you can throw a bit of painter's tape on the end here. To release the tab, go on the top here. You're gonna look for a green pop clip. If you press on the back of the pop clip, it will release the tab. To release the back of this trim piece, put your pop clip in the end and twist forward because the clip goes in this direction. At this point, you can remove the two 10-millimeter bolts holding on the top of your headlight. All right. So, there is one more bolt that we do have to remove, which is a bit hard to get to. It's right about here on the bottom of your headlight. And the way we're going to access this is remove two bolts underneath the wheel well liner and one screw in the side of it. With a 10-millimeter socket, remove the two bolts underneath your bumper. At this point, we're also gonna remove a pop clip with a stubby flathead screwdriver. Twist it to remove. With that clip removed, peel back your wheel well liner. And now you should be able to access the bolt by going in through here to the back of the headlight. All right. Now at the wheel well liner back, you can see this bolt. You might have a little trouble seeing it on camera here, but you can feel the one that you have to remove. We're gonna grab a 10-millimeter socket and a ratchet, and we're gonna go ahead and get it out. With all the bolts removed, we're now gonna release this tab here. You can do this by hand or if you like, you can do it with a flathead screwdriver and you're just gonna pry forward. Release the two tabs at the top as well. Again, you can just lift up, or if you have a flathead, just pry it off.Now that the headlight is released and loose on your truck, we're gonna disconnect each of the connectors at this point. Go ahead and pull each of them off. There should be three, one main and then two marker lights. And there's one a little bit farther forward up here. Now that everything is released and your headlight is disconnected, it's a matter of wiggling the headlight and maneuvering it in just the right way for it to come out.Man: So, now our first step to installing our new headlights is to run our wire harness. We have a fuse tap that's gonna run through the firewall and into the cabin into our under-dash fuse box. And then we have a positive and negative that are gonna go onto our battery terminals. And then we can run our wires across to the other side. So, now we're gonna be going through this grommet to the right of our brake booster. We have our fuse tap, so we can pull our wires out of the way and get it through our grommet. And then we can go inside the cabin to pull that the rest of the way through. So, now we can come into the cabin and pull our harness the rest of the way through, and then we're gonna be popping off our fuse box cover so we can pull it down. And then it's got two clips on either side at the bottom, so we can just pop that out to remove our cover. So, now we're gonna be tapping into our ignition fuse. If we look at the back of our cover, that's gonna be a 15-amp fuse in the top left. It's gonna be that blue fuse. And then we can grab a pair of needle-nose pliers to get in there and pull it out. And then we can grab our fuse tap. We're gonna run this up through the back of our panel and then add our 15-amp fuse that we just removed. And then we can plug it right back into where we took that 15-amp fuse out of. And then we can grab our cover. We're gonna slide these two notches in first and then clip down our two clips on the bottom to reinstall our cover. So, now we can come back to our engine bay. We have a power and a ground that we're gonna have to hook up to our battery. So, we'll put the power to the positive terminal, we're gonna ground to the chassis. So, we're first gonna install our positive side, so we need to loosen up this 12-millimeter nut. So, we'll grab a 12-millimeter socket to do so. And then we can slide that connector in, and then we'll tighten that back down with our 12-millimeter. And then on our negative side, we're gonna be grounding it to our chassis. So, we'll loosen up this 10-millimeter bolt, and we can slide in our negative, and then we'll tighten that back up with that same 10-millimeter socket. So, now next, we can run our wires for our headlight. And you can run this however you'd like. The way I'm gonna do it, so we're gonna take our longer wire that's gonna run to our passenger side. We're gonna put that down through our driver's side headlight bucket, and we're gonna run it straight across to the other side. We can put a zip tie here on this cross support. And then our yellow wire, we're gonna run straight into our driver's side headlight bucket. And then our shorter wire that goes with the longer wire is gonna go straight down into our headlight bucket as well. So, now we've got our new headlight and we're gonna start making all of our electrical connections. So, the first thing we're gonna do is take our red wire and plug that into our brown wire, and then next, we'll connect our yellow connector. Now, the passenger side headlight also has this harness, but this is only gonna reach to the driver's side, and there's only one connector for it. And then we can start to plug in our factory harnesses. All of these can only fit in one spot, so you can't mix them up. And now we can install our headlight onto the truck.Next, we can reinstall our two factory 10-millimeter bolts at the top of our headlight. And then we'll grab our 10-millimeter socket to tighten these down. Next, we can install our lower trim piece. Now we have a tap here that this is gonna slide into, and then our clip is gonna go right into that hole. So, now we can install our last bolt into our headlight. It's gonna be right around here. You can access it through the fender liner. You're gonna have to do this one by feel because you're not gonna be able to see it with the headlight installed. So, we'll pull back our fender liner, get it in there, thread it in, and then I've got a 0.25-inch drive ratchet with a shallow 10-millimeter socket so that we have the clearance we need to tighten down our bolt. So, now we can go through our fender liner and get our bolt hand-threaded into place. And then we can grab our 10-millimeter socket on a ratchet to tighten down that bolt. So, now we can come back down into our wheel well and reinstall our 10-millimeter bolt in our fender liner. And then we can grab our 10-millimeter socket to tighten down our bolt. Next, we can reinstall our two bolts at the bottom of our bumper, and we'll tighten both of those down with the 10-millimeter socket. Now, once we have all of our bolts reinstalled, we can repeat that same process on the other side. So, now that we have both of our headlights installed, we need to tie down our wiring harness that's running from one side to the other, just to make sure it doesn't get caught on anything. So, I've got a zip tie, I've got a piece of metal right here that we're gonna zip tie it to.So, now we can reinstall our grille. So, we'll just slide that into place, and then we can install our hardware up top. So, now we can reinstall our two push clips as well as our two bolts. And then we can take our 10-millimeter socket to tighten down our two bolts. So, that'll wrap up this review and install of the LUXX-Series LED Projector Headlights, Alpha-Black Housing, and Clear Lens for your 2012 to 2015 Tacoma. Thank you for watching. And for all things Tacoma, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.
