      Video Review & Installation

I'm Ryan from This is my review of the Rugged Ridge tubular front bumper fitting all 1987 to 2006 Wranglers. This bumper is available as you see it in a gloss black finish, but it's also available in a textured black, a polished stainless or a titanium finish. The bumper's also available with and without this upper bumper hoop and with or without a winch cutout. So, you have a lot of different options. These are for those of you who want to customize the look of the front of their Jeep but don't have the need or the budget for a much heavier duty plate steel bumper that also has a lot of other features. If you're looking for something that has this old school look and you don't have a need for some of the features or protection offered from one of the other bumpers, you can save yourself some money by going with one of these tubular bumpers and get the look you're after. This bumper is built from three inch round tubular steel, and like I said before, it's available in a lot of different configurations. You have powder coated versions that come in a gloss black and textured black or as a titanium color, and then you also have a polished stainless version of this same bumper. There's the version of the bumper that has this upper bumper hoop or one without. The bumper hoop is really more of a styling addition than anything else. The bumper's also available with and without a winch cutout where this center bar will have a cutout to allow clearance for a winch plate to be mounted. Even though that bumper does have a winch cutout, it does not have a winch plate so you will still have to purchase a winch plate and a winch to get that setup complete. Like I said before, this bumper doesn't have a lot of the features that the heavier duty plate steel bumpers have, like additional recovery points or additional protection. This bumper does, however, have two light mount tabs welded onto it so you can mount your factory TJ fog lights or some auxiliary lights if you'd like to. To get this bumper bolted onto your Jeep, all you need to do is first remove your factory bumper. That bumper is held on by six bolts, three on either side, two on the top of the bumper that hold it into the frame rail, and one on the bottom on each side. Once the factory bumper is removed, you'll slide the new bumper over the frame horns and attach it using the factory hardware. There are a couple of additional holes on the mounting tabs of this bumper that you won't be using because this bumper is designed to work with an older YJ or the newer TJ. The whole installation of this bumper shouldn't take you more than two hours. It is fairly lightweight so you may be able to get it done on your own, however having an extra set of hands around is always helpful. You won't need any specialty tools for this job, however a good set of Torx bits will come in handy. You can't expect a bumper like this to hold up as well to offroad abuse as a heavy duty plate steel bumper. As long as you know that going into it and you judge this bumper accordingly, I think you get a lot of bang for your buck with this. It seems to be built pretty well. The finish is nice. It does what it's designed to do, which is to change up the look of the front of your Jeep. Again, if you're looking for additional protection, if you're looking for additional features, I would recommend looking at one of those more heavy duty plate steel bumpers that we have available on the site. If you're looking to change up the look of your Jeep and you like the old school tubular style bumpers, this is a nice option. It might not have quite as many features or provide as much protection as the more expensive heavy duty plate steel bumpers, but for what this is designed to do I think it's a good value and it looks pretty good. That's my review of the Rugged Ridge tubular front bumper fitting all 1987 to 2006 Wranglers that you can find right here at
