      Review & Installation Video

I'm Ryan from and this is my review of the Rugged Ridge Dash Multi-Mount, fitting all 1997 to 2006 TJs. This is available with and without the cell phone mount. This is for those of you who use your cell phone as GPS, or just want to have it close to your line of sight, or those of you that have any other electronic devices that you're looking for a secure mount that puts the device right up on the dashboard where it's easy to see and get to. This is an inexpensive and secure mount for all electronic devices that use a standard ball mount. This multi-mount is made of a high-quality and high-strength plastic that's molded to fit your dash perfectly. As I said before, the mount comes with a universal ball mount, and you can get it with or without Rugged Ridge's cell phone holder. If you get it without their cell phone holder, you can use any other universal ball mount to attach your cell phone or any other electronic devices right onto the mount.Even though this does mount in your factory storage tray, it still provides you with three different sections of storage for small items right up on the dash. This is designed to mount really securely with both 3M tape and three self-tapping screws so, no matter what electronic device you put on the mount, you know it's going to stay put. This multi-mount will install in your jeep pretty easily with the included 3M tape and self-tapping screws.Any time you're using 3M tape for installation, you'll want to make sure that all the surfaces are really clean. So, I would recommend using an alcohol prep pad or something similar to clean both the dash and the mount before installing the tape. Once that's done, you can put the 3M tape onto the mount and press it securely onto your dashboard. If you do have a liner on the factory tray, you will want to remove that before installing this part. After the 3M tape is pressed down, you'll use the three self-tapping screws that are included in the kit to secure the mount even further onto the dashboard. That way, no matter what you put on this mount, you know it's not going to move around. The whole installation should take about 30 minutes or less, and you won't need any specialty tools, just a screwdriver or a drill with a Phillips-head screw tip.I think this mount is priced pretty fairly for what you get. It's really well-built, it fits really well, and almost blends into the interior seamlessly, and you can mount any device on it you want because it has that universal ball mount. There are a lot of other options for mounts that put a device in the same area as this one, and it's an area that makes it really easy to both reach and see your electronic devices. So, I think this is a pretty good buy.So, whether you use your cell phone in your TJ for GPS or for music, or you have another electronic device, like a trail cam or a dash cam, that you want to keep held securely in place, this is an inexpensive and well-built mount that will do the trick. So, that's my review of the Rugged Ridge Dash Multi-Mount, fitting all 1997 to 2006 TJs, that you can find right here at

Tray is great, phone holder not so much.

So the tray part is fantastic. Fits well, easy install, and added much needed storage. The phone holder is trash. Useless in portrait, slightly less useless in landscape but will still randomly eject the phone and send it flying when you hit a bump, which if you own a Jeep you hit bumps for fun. Eventually one of the retainer tabs just plain snapped off. My fix. Bought a RAM 1/4”-20 threaded hole and hex post, RAM double socket arm, and a RAzm X-Grip with ball. Rock solid.

Perfect fit on the dash holds the Garmin too

I bought this for a good place to mount my phone. It does that perfectly but it also perfectly fits the mount for my Garmin Nuvi. The price was great and the fit/look is awesome. Definitely recommend this upgrade!

        Do not buy

This is absolute Chinese junk. Even though Extreme Terrain sent me a new phone holder it also broke after 6 uses. Stay away from this product.

3 2002 Wrangler - MatthewM Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Cool product!

Actually extremely helpful for extra storage. The phone holder is absolute junk though. My phone falls out about my 3 times per commute on the road, so definitely not applicable for off roading. I bought a cheap phone holder that fits the ball mount and it now works perfectly.

        3 1999 Wrangler - Dale99Wrangler Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

Love the extra space but cheap cell phone holder

I love the extra space but I don't think the cell phone holder is going to last very long. It has a very thin rod between the base mount and the swivel ball. When you adjust the angle of your phone you can see it bend and flex. The locking nut for the swivel does not turn easy which makes it difficult to adjust the phone angle. The apparatus that holds your phone (iphone 8 plus) cannot hold it in the vertical position without attaching the goofy rubber thingy. The rubber thing must have been a after thought because it is nowhere in the instructions. Not a good phone holder at all for something that goes off road! Anything hard placed in the storage area will rattle like crazy in the hard plastic. Should be supplied with pads for the bottom. I fabricated some from an old mouse pad

5 2000 Wrangler - Sean Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Great Piece of Equipment

The Rugged Ridge Dash Multi-Mount does everything is says it does. Even with no bottom support for the phone, the phone holder hold the phone even when off-roading on uneven roads. The compartments have adequate room for whatever you would store on your dash. I would highly recommend this product.

Probably a dumb question but is this unit something that fits over top of the current shallow tray on my 06 TJ. It looks like it might. Would it accommodate a different phone/iPad mini on it?

      • This does fit over the current tray on you Jeep, and would accommodate any phone, although an IPad Mini may be too big.

Can the phone mount transition to a horizontal orientation? I've seen reviews that mention that the phone could drop out of the holder when you hit a bump. The horizontal position might prevent this from happening.

      • The Rugged Ridge Dash Multi-Mount w/ Phone Holder only has a vertical holding orientation. It is not possible to turn them horizontal.

How does a Camera and Phone mount at the same time?? Is there a screw attachment in front of the phone towards the windshield??

      • It doesn't hold multiple items at the same time. It can hold those items individually. The phone does not get screwed into the device.
