I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the Rugged Ridge C3 Cargo Cover, fitting all 2007 and up JKs. There are a couple different versions of this cargo cover available, one for those of you with the two-door and another for those of you with the four-door JK, and it's also available for those of you with and without the subwoofer in the cargo area of your Jeep. So, make sure you get the right one for your Wrangler. Today we're gonna talk through the installation of this cargo cover, which is a very simple one-out-of-three wrenches. There are a couple pieces of hook-and-loop fastener that you will be attaching using adhesive onto the inside of the tub of your Jeep to make sure that this stays in place where you put it. But other than that, it will come in and out pretty easily. We're also gonna talk through the construction and a few of the features of this cover. You know, this is called a cargo cover, but it's really a cargo area cover. This is designed to be laid inside the back of your Jeep to protect the carpet and the plastic interior trim when you're loading and unloading large, heavy, or dirty items. This is going to be able to cover everywhere from the top of the rear seats, all the way to the back of the jeep and up on the sides, including covering the doors if you have a four-door JK. So, this really is a piece that's going to give you great protection for the interior of your Jeep. So, if you don't have a truck, if you use that back area of your Jeep as a truck sometimes, but you wanna make sure that it stays clean and doesn't get nicked up and start looking like you use it like a truck, then having protection like this is a really nice option. I think for the quality of the build that you're getting and how well this is gonna hold up and do its job, I think this is priced really fairly, especially when you consider the cost of replacing the carpet or having to clean up all of the plastic if it were to get nicked and bit.As far as construction goes, this is a heavy-duty canvas material that is stitched, and it has piping around all of the edges to make sure it's not gonna fray. And again, you can tell when you hold it in your hand, it is a really well-built piece. It's a high-quality material that is going to hold up really well, whether it's just pets that are in the back of your Jeep, or you're loading bags of stone. As I said before, this does attach to some Velcro that you're going to be adhering to the inside of your tub, but it also attaches to a bunch more places as well. It's going to attach to your seat brackets, your head rests, it's going to be tucked behind the weather-stripping around your tailgate. This is really designed to be put into your Jeep and stay exactly where you put it while you're loading and unloading your stuff, so it can do its job, so it can protect, and because of that, it has cutouts around all of your hinges, all of your support cage areas. It has really heavy-duty Velcro that's gonna hold it, again, in place, exactly where you put it. And, this is designed to work with those 60/40 split rear seats, so you can flip one seat down or the other, have both of them down or both of them up, and that's why this is configurable. You can really run this in a lot of different configurations and it's still going to offer some great protection. On top of all of that, this is waterproof, so even if you are loading in some muddy or dirty gear, if you've just been hiking, throw everything in the back. You can easily hose this off to get it clean, and it's gonna last a good long time. As I said before, the installation for this item is a simple one-out-of-three wrenches. There are a few steps involved, but this is something that you can pretty easily install and remove from your Jeep. You're not doing any major modification. You are putting a couple of pieces of the Velcro on the inside of your tub. But again, it is just Velcro, it will come in and out very, very easily. So, the first steps are setting that Velcro into place, and any time you're working with 3M adhesive - which is how the Velcro sticks on to the inside of the tub - you wanna make sure that the inside of the tub is very clean. So, use a good alcohol-based cleaner, and this does come with some 3M adhesion promoter, which you'll put onto the surface of the tub before applying that Velcro. And that adhesion promoter is no joke. Once you use that, wherever you put that Velcro, it is going to stay until you really wanna remove it. So make sure that you have it lined up straight, exactly how you want it before you attach it. The instructions tell you exactly where to put that Velcro, so there's no guessing. After that, it's really just a matter of throwing this into the cargo area - however you want your seats configured for whatever you're going to be carrying - and starting to attach it. You'll put it, again, around the rear headrest. You'll attach to the rear seat brackets. You'll tuck it behind your weather stripping around your tailgate and, of course, attach it to that Velcro that you installed on the inside of your tub as well. It also tucks behind the carpet in a couple of locations. It is very intuitive but, the first time you do this, just follow the instructions and it'll be very simple. The second time, you'll be able to get this installed in far less than half an hour. It'll go in and out very easily and give you great protection. As far as the value you're getting for the price you have to pay for this item, at first I wanted to say, $150, it seems like a lot of money. But when you look at the engineering that went into this to be able to get it to not just fit well in the back of your Jeep, but stay put exactly where you put it so you can load and unload without having to try and hold it up out of the way, and the high quality of materials and the high build quality that you're getting so this is going to hold up to abuse over time, I think that this really is worth the price you have to pay for it. Again, a lot of us like to keep the interior of our vehicle, of our Jeep, nice and clean, but we also wanna be able to use our Jeep as a utility vehicle, which it is. So if, on the weekends, you wanna be able to throw some bags of stones, some bags of mulch, you wanna be able to throw your muddy shoes or your muddy dog in the back of your Jeep and not destroy your carpet and all of the plastic interior trim pieces, this is going to be worth the $150 in order to keep all of your interior protected. So, if you end up treating the inside cargo area of your JK as a pickup truck bed sometimes, having this cargo cover is going to protect your carpet, protect all your plastic interior trim pieces, and keep your interior looking clean and new for a long time. So, that's my review of the Rugged Ridge C3 Cargo Cover, fitting all 2007 and up JKs, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.
