great but needs track bar relocation brackets
The lift went on easily besides some expected stuck bolts. A few months after the lift was put on, the springs started rubbing against the frame and slightly bending the shackles. I also had to replace the u joints after the lift was put on. Other than those minor things, great buyHelpful (2)

2.5 inch lift
Looks great install was easy. However, they say no other modifications were necessary. I disagree I need to add a transfer case drop as the slip yoke was out and inch and a half and the angle on the rear driveline was too steep.Helpful (2)

Rc 2.5” lift
Kit seems to be good quality, rides well for a leaf spring kit. All required hardware was included and instructions were clear. The only thing I would improve is some of the u bolts were slightly to wide to go through the spring plates and had to be slightly bent to fit properly. Overall a very good kit for the money and I would buy it again.Helpful (2)

Great bang for the buck!
this kit gave my YJ just the right amount of lift for 31's and I cannot believe how much smoother the ride is compared to the stock suspension; the instructions were awful but Youtube has a ton of good vids that help. I would have given it 5 stars but I had to pay extra to order the transfer case drop kit (that comes with the 4" kit for the same price) and new spring eye bolts (trash your old ones, they are probably shot)....All in all, a great budget lift that does what it says it will and will improve your Jeep experience, if you are on the fence about this one (I was) , GET IT, you be happy!Helpful (2)

Very easy to install and looks great and rides nice. Loosen back top bolt on shackles and you can slide the bottom bolt out instead of cutting it. Saves time.Helpful (2)

The lift went on pretty easy and fit well. Track bars didn't line up when I was done so I had to buy extensions. Also had to buy longer brake lines but that was probably because of the longer shackles I had already installed. My original springs were flat so with the shackles I probably ended up with 4 to 5 inches of lift. I'm going to try a transfer case drop kit because of driveshaft vibration but am thinking that may not do it.Helpful (5)
If I were to buy this 2.5 inch lift would I need brake line relocation brackets, different/ longer pitman arm, other drive train parts, or anything else? I am mostly concerned about the pitman arm. Thanks
With a 2.5 inch lift, it is recommended that brake line relocation brackets are installed. A pitman arm at that height is unnecessary. Drive train parts would not be necessary at that size lift either.
Is there a way to measure my current leaf springs to determine if I currently have a lift or if its the factory set?
There are ways to measure the leaf springs to see if you would have a lift or not. But, the easiest way to tell if there is a lift is to take the Jeep to level ground and measure from the ground to the body of the the jeep. A stock Jeep sits 18" from the ground.
If I have flat fender flares and this lift kit, will 33 in tires be able to clear? Thanks.
Depending on your wheel offset, you should be able to clear 33's with this lift and Flat fenders, however some minor additional trimming may be required, and you will not have full articulation.
Is this lift good for off roading ?
The Rough Country 2.5 in. Suspension Lift Kit will work well in off road situations and will allow you to fit up to a 32" tire
What does full articulation mean??? I'm trying to pick the right lift for my yj n don't know what it means......
Hello, Axle articulation is vertical wheel travel – as in, how far the axle can move up and down relative to the chassis. Articulation is what allows the vehicle keep all four tires in contact with the ground on rough terrain, which provides better stability and allows the vehicle to maintain traction. On a solid axle vehicle like a Jeep, as one side of the axle is forced up, the opposite side is pushed down as the suspension conforms to the terrain so that maximum traction and stability is maintained. It is one of the most important factors in determining if a vehicle can get over an obstacle.
The Rough Country 2.5 in. Suspension Lift Kit w/ Shocks (87-95 Wrangler YJ) with a 1in body lift would allow for proper clearance to run 33in tires, however, you would not have full articulation. For full articulation you would need a complete 3.5in suspension lift. A great option would be FABTECH 3.5 IN. PERFORMANCE LIFT KIT W/ SHOCKS (87-95 WRANGLER YJ); Item #J101560, which can be found here: http://www.extremeterrain.com/fabtech-3-5-perf-shocks-k4022.html.
Rough Country recommends 31x10.50/R15 tires, with wheel backspacing of 3.75".
This will fit with your Wrangler.
It would depend on the limitations of the tire you are looking to add, in general a 12.5" tire would require a 9-10" wide wheel. But with theRough Country 2.5 in. Suspension Lift Kit w/ Shocks and a wheel that is 8" wide you should be able to install an 11" wide tire as long as with the wheel spacer your total backspacing is at or under 4".
At 2.5" of lift, we recommend an adjustable track bar, however this is not always necessary.
This will ride rougher than stock, but we found it to be livable.
Anytime lifting yourJeep you will hurt the ride quality and would not necessarily improve the ride quality
Since the front springs handle more weight, these will settle more, helping to level the ride height. Additionally these are meant to be able to take the weight of heavier steel bumpers and winches which will weigh down the front. We do not recommend a leveling kit with this lift kit.
The Rough Country 2.5 in. Suspension Lift Kit w/ Shocks will come with front and rear shocks.
