Is this lift good for off roading ?

What does full articulation mean??? I'm trying to pick the right lift for my yj n don't know what it means......

    FB

    • Hello, Axle articulation is vertical wheel travel – as in, how far the axle can move up and down relative to the chassis. Articulation is what allows the vehicle keep all four tires in contact with the ground on rough terrain, which provides better stability and allows the vehicle to maintain traction. On a solid axle vehicle like a Jeep, as one side of the axle is forced up, the opposite side is pushed down as the suspension conforms to the terrain so that maximum traction and stability is maintained. It is one of the most important factors in determining if a vehicle can get over an obstacle.

Clearance Will this 2.5in lift kit with a 1in body lift be able to clear 33in tires with full articulation?

    NHjeep

    • The Rough Country 2.5 in. Suspension Lift Kit w/ Shocks (87-95 Wrangler YJ) with a 1in body lift would allow for proper clearance to run 33in tires, however, you would not have full articulation. For full articulation you would need a complete 3.5in suspension lift. A great option would be FABTECH 3.5 IN. PERFORMANCE LIFT KIT W/ SHOCKS (87-95 WRANGLER YJ); Item #J101560, which can be found here: http://www.extremeterrain.com/fabtech-3-5-perf-shocks-k4022.html.

Is there a way to measure my current leaf springs to determine if I currently have a lift or if its the factory set?

    Jon

There is conflicting information in the product description, video and what's in the box. One says 2 front hydro shocks, another says 4 Nitro shocks. which is it?? Thanks! Brian

If i am starting with a bone stock 95 YJ and put this kit on, will i need to do anything with the drive train? like a longer one? or anything?

    AlexK

    • The Rough Country 2.5 in. Suspension Lift Kit will not typically require any additional components, however in rare instances, we have seen the need for a transfer case drop kit due to driveline vibrations.

Didn’t level the front with the back

Install was easy , new bolts around, haven’t been able to test it out yet, other problems to fix first. The jeep doesn’t look level , disappointed with that, will update once I hit the road.

Rough Country 2.5in Suspension Kit 87-95 yj

Kit was well put together just be prepared to cut the leaf to frame bolts on all corners. Also don't tighten all u bolts until axles are centered on leafs.

      Lift kit

Love the lift kit. Took a few days to put in but all in all wrath it. I ended up cutting off the old leaf springs and some of the U bolts. I do think putting longer brake lines how to smart I had to use two jacks and my high- jack what I bought with the lift kit what was a lifesaver. It's been three weeks and it rides great took it off road and it was a blast how buy again

      Dont buy

First off my u-bolts were a quarter inch bigger and i called rough country they said call extreme terrain and get po-number, then i tried calling rough country again during buisness hours and i kept getting put on hold and went to voicmail once, never got a call back. Then the bottom leaf didnt have the center pin on center of leaf it caused the whole leaf to be hanging over the other leafs about a quarter inch making u bolts not seat correctly

      Higher Ground.

Had to give my 92'YJ a 2.5 lift to accommodate the 33"x10.5" tires I decided to install. I must say it definitely gave my YJ a more aggressive appearance from it's original appearance. I also added a steering stabilizer while I was at it. It definitely gave it a different ride and handling. I haven't tried it offroad yet, I am sure it would do OK as it is sitting higher off the ground.

Nothing wrong with the components. But your probably going to have put the transfer case drop in major vibration without

      Looks great...caused issues

Timely shipping and overall great look for my '91 YJ. Install was reasonable (3 hours), but we did have the Jeep on a lift which made it much easier. This lift has created a major vibration between 35-50 MPH. Hoping the transfer drop will help, but that was not an expense I was anticipating. I think that if this result is the norm then the kit should include the transfer drop or at least tell you it's needed. I hope that fixes my issue...fingers crossed.

      not too bad

The largest issue I have now is a small vibration which is probably due to the driveline angle.
