Is this lift good for off roading ?

What does full articulation mean??? I'm trying to pick the right lift for my yj n don't know what it means......

    FB

    • Hello, Axle articulation is vertical wheel travel – as in, how far the axle can move up and down relative to the chassis. Articulation is what allows the vehicle keep all four tires in contact with the ground on rough terrain, which provides better stability and allows the vehicle to maintain traction. On a solid axle vehicle like a Jeep, as one side of the axle is forced up, the opposite side is pushed down as the suspension conforms to the terrain so that maximum traction and stability is maintained. It is one of the most important factors in determining if a vehicle can get over an obstacle.

Clearance Will this 2.5in lift kit with a 1in body lift be able to clear 33in tires with full articulation?

    NHjeep

    • The Rough Country 2.5 in. Suspension Lift Kit w/ Shocks (87-95 Wrangler YJ) with a 1in body lift would allow for proper clearance to run 33in tires, however, you would not have full articulation. For full articulation you would need a complete 3.5in suspension lift. A great option would be FABTECH 3.5 IN. PERFORMANCE LIFT KIT W/ SHOCKS (87-95 WRANGLER YJ); Item #J101560, which can be found here: http://www.extremeterrain.com/fabtech-3-5-perf-shocks-k4022.html.

Are these a factory OE style bushing, or poly bushings that will squeak in a year?

    Don

    • The Rough Country 2.5 in. Suspension Lift Kit utilizes rubber spring bushings. These bushings are non greaseable.

What is the biggest tire I can install after using a 2.5 suspension lift kit on my yj

    RaymondS

    • After installation of a 2.5" lift on your YJ, you would be able to fit a 31" x 10.5" tire.

First off my u-bolts were a quarter inch bigger and i called rough country they said call extreme terrain and get po-number, then i tried calling rough country again during buisness hours and i kept getting put on hold and went to voicmail once, never got a call back. Then the bottom leaf didnt have the center pin on center of leaf it caused the whole leaf to be hanging over the other leafs about a quarter inch making u bolts not seat correctly

Its a long read but worth it.

This lift is a quick easy upgrade, IF you can get your old hardware off!! Start using P-B blaster NOW if you are even considering lifting your jeep, it will make your life much easier. As for the RC 2.5 lift, before the install everything was smooth, no bad vibes man... After install there was a very bad vibration between 30-50Mph, you could feel it through out the whole jeep. Contacted RC customer service, they were very quick to respond, the said to try to drop the transfer case a 1/4 inch and see if that helps, and if it didn't that I could order there 1 inch trans drop kit and that would fix the problem. The 2.5 lift at this time cost the same $449.95 anywhere you look, the SAME price as the 4 inch, which includes several more items like, lets say a 1 INCH DROP KIT. I Didn't go with a 4inch lift for fear of having to install an SYE kit which will run another $400-$500 by the time you include the CV drive shaft. I used some 1x2 rectangular tubing and made my own 1 inch drop kit, the 1 inch drop helped but there was still a vibration that was not there before. The only way I completely got the vibration out was the 1 inch drop along with 1inch motor mount lift ( I already had a 1 1/4 body lift on the jeep.) Just a heads up if you have a 1 1/4 inch body lift and add a 1 inch transfer case drop and have a 5 speed trans you are probably going to loose 2nd and 4th gear until you trim the tub closer to your console an cut out 1/2 an inch and re-drill and mount your shift boots. I am now in the process of ordering and installing a SYE kit for a 2.5 lift to do away with the transfer drop kit (No one wants to give up ground clearance) when i could have ordered the 4 inch lift and been time and money ahead. Side note it lifted a 1992 yj 4.0 front from 32in to 34 3/4 and rear from 33 to 35. this is after driving 50 miles and letting everything settle. the springs were well past being replaced, your here of people getting 4 inches out of a 2.5 inch lift there springs must have been setting on the bump stops when they started. I hopes this helps someone with there dreams of getting higher...

      2.5 rough country lift

Great ride, more vibration from driveline. I will be getting a transfer case and a slip yolk eliminator kit. The vacuum for four wheel drive isn't engaging now and I will have to convert it to a mechanical diff lock cable.

Installed easily and all parts are there and ready to go. Old U-Bolts are the hardest thing for the new springs had to cut a few off.

      Rough country 2.5 Lift

This project was a fairly easy one . Hardest part was taking off the original oem suspention. The new Rough country parts went on well and have done as advertised. The look is good and the ride even better. Looking forward to many years of off road enjoyment with a quality ride,

wonderful must do even for the "stock "crowd

my stock springs were shot so the lift is night n day different and i love it BUT the instructions could be improved its a straight forward install except all 4 of my springs needed cut off (rusted on) so i had nothing to compare and nowhere is there telling you on front springs which end goes forward so i lost a few hours (go figure i would guess wrong first time!) would buy again in a hart beat !

      great product for the money

I have a 1995 YJ. I love this lift kit. it handles great on and off road, night and day difference. the only problem was the instruction manuel was not very clear for a first time on how to install, therefore the install time took longer. besides that it is a great lift kit. the folks at extreme terrain were great support in advice for the install.

      great kit!

This kit looks great and rides, pretty well both on and off road! if your doing it your self I would recommend spraying PB blaster on your bolts a week or so prior before install just to make life a bit easier! I would also recommend a t case drop, helps eliminate that vibration while driving. comes with all the hard wear you need. I was able to fit 32x11.5 under this lift as well fits like a glove! haven't rubbed on turns or wheeling yet! great lift, good like and a great price, defiantly would recommend to a friend!

This Lift was great! 2.5 inches was a great choice. It looks good, allows better offroading and keeps it driving smooth! My next lift will definitely be bought on extreme terrain and be rough country, when the time comes!

      Decent lift

For the price you get what you pay for its a good lift my jeep looks good with it I get flex and good lift. Only problem is like the name if the brand the ride is very rough! Going over speed bumps feel like mountains but other than that it's a good lift.

      Higher Ground.

Had to give my 92'YJ a 2.5 lift to accommodate the 33"x10.5" tires I decided to install. I must say it definitely gave my YJ a more aggressive appearance from it's original appearance. I also added a steering stabilizer while I was at it. It definitely gave it a different ride and handling. I haven't tried it offroad yet, I am sure it would do OK as it is sitting higher off the ground.
