If I were to buy this 2.5 inch lift would I need brake line relocation brackets, different/ longer pitman arm, other drive train parts, or anything else? I am mostly concerned about the pitman arm. Thanks

    • With a 2.5 inch lift, it is recommended that brake line relocation brackets are installed. A pitman arm at that height is unnecessary. Drive train parts would not be necessary at that size lift either.

Is there a way to measure my current leaf springs to determine if I currently have a lift or if its the factory set?

    • There are ways to measure the leaf springs to see if you would have a lift or not. But, the easiest way to tell if there is a lift is to take the Jeep to level ground and measure from the ground to the body of the the jeep. A stock Jeep sits 18" from the ground.

Is this lift good for off roading ?

    • The Rough Country 2.5 in. Suspension Lift Kit will work well in off road situations and will allow you to fit up to a 32" tire

What does full articulation mean??? I'm trying to pick the right lift for my yj n don't know what it means......

    • Hello, Axle articulation is vertical wheel travel – as in, how far the axle can move up and down relative to the chassis. Articulation is what allows the vehicle keep all four tires in contact with the ground on rough terrain, which provides better stability and allows the vehicle to maintain traction. On a solid axle vehicle like a Jeep, as one side of the axle is forced up, the opposite side is pushed down as the suspension conforms to the terrain so that maximum traction and stability is maintained. It is one of the most important factors in determining if a vehicle can get over an obstacle.

Clearance Will this 2.5in lift kit with a 1in body lift be able to clear 33in tires with full articulation?

    • The Rough Country 2.5 in. Suspension Lift Kit w/ Shocks (87-95 Wrangler YJ) with a 1in body lift would allow for proper clearance to run 33in tires, however, you would not have full articulation. For full articulation you would need a complete 3.5in suspension lift. A great option would be FABTECH 3.5 IN. PERFORMANCE LIFT KIT W/ SHOCKS (87-95 WRANGLER YJ); Item #J101560, which can be found here: http://www.extremeterrain.com/fabtech-3-5-perf-shocks-k4022.html.

Very easy to install and looks great and rides nice. Loosen back top bolt on shackles and you can slide the bottom bolt out instead of cutting it. Saves time.

      Overall happy

The lift went on pretty easy and fit well. Track bars didn't line up when I was done so I had to buy extensions. Also had to buy longer brake lines but that was probably because of the longer shackles I had already installed. My original springs were flat so with the shackles I probably ended up with 4 to 5 inches of lift. I'm going to try a transfer case drop kit because of driveshaft vibration but am thinking that may not do it.

      Simple and quick

It took me and a friend about 3 hours to install the lift. The two smaller U-bolts for the front had to be bent in about a 1/4” to fit the mounting plate but that was the only problem we had. Love the lift. Really simple install. Also added a transfer case drop of 1”

      Perfect lift height

I am very pleased with the outcome. Was the look I wanted. Took me 7 hours for the front. 5 hours for the rear. (By myself) Get an alignment when you are done.

      Good bit of hardware.

I purchased and installed this kit on my little 95 Rio Grande edition, and it was everything I expected. Decent quality for the price, certainly. I bought some boots to go with the new shocks too, which was a good investment that I would recommend as well. One thing to keep in mind, depending on the exact year and configuration of your Jeep you might have some issues with the rear drivetrain using this kit and the stock rear “slip yoke”. The driveline angle on my Jeep was just too much for the stock u-joints/drive shaft to handle very well. So, my next project is to go with a S.L.E. and a new rear driveshaft combo (no fault of the kit, I suppose you could get away with installing a lowering kit for your transfer case and tranny). Just be aware that with this kit installed you will be at the very limits of what your stock driveline setup can handle. With the addition of a different size tire, you are pushing your luck for sure. I have installed a set of 31” AT tires with this rig, and it looks and works out perfect. Good luck!

      Spring and shock kit

I ordered and received the kit in a very timely time. It totally changed the ride of my 95 yj 2.5L jeep. It is a great product. The only problem I found were the wider U- bolts on the front of the jeep were to short. I had to purchase two longer U- bolts. Other than that great product. It was the 2.5” lift I believe it raised it 4”.

      2 1/2” lift on 1990 YJ

After springs settled in the vehicle sits perfectly level. The ride is as expected and quite comfortable. Impressed with how smooth the shocks dampen pot holes and bumps. If it weren’t for the unusable u-bolts I would have given 5 stars. They were too wide for axle so used the old. Definitely a two man project. About five hours without air tools.

      All day project

I decided to install the kit on my 94 yj myself. About 30 min into it my air compressor died so I was left with hand tools. I had to improvise with ratchet straps and blocks to situate the leaf springs into place. All in all it took my about 10 hours to install. After a Little drive around the block I re tightened everything and she’s been good and smooth on the highway and Offroad. Actual lift it gave me was more like 3 inches since the old suspension was flat. A good product I’d recommend to anyone.

Install was easy , new bolts around, haven’t been able to test it out yet, other problems to fix first. The jeep doesn’t look level , disappointed with that, will update once I hit the road.
