What's the installation process like for the bolt mounted option? Also how would you rate these compared to other rock rails regarding functionality?
These Poison Spyder Frame Mounted Ricochet Rockers can be installed a few ways. If you have an automatic Jeep, it will mount in between the transfer case skid and the frame. If the Jeep is a manual, this kit can be bolted to the frame or welded on for added support, which is a great benefit. Here is an install guide of the process as well https://www.extremeterrain.com/poison-spyder-frame-mounted-ricochet-rockers-0717-jk-2-door-manu-install.html. I would say this kit is one of the stronger mounted rails, since it does not attach to the pinch weld. I would highly recommend them.

The Ricochet Rockers are plenty beefy. The outriggers leave a small gap between themselves and the body mount bracket they attach to. On further inspection, this same gap is visible in Poison Spyder’s install video, and likely is due to JK construction variances. Passenger-side install is a breeze, as both frame holes are present and threaded. One of the two must be drilled on the driver’s side. This is a bit frustrating, but otherwise install is simple enough. I do wish PSC left a drainage hole at the bottom of the outriggers to help with rust prevention. Otherwise, a great product — real protection and a usable step for the family!
