This MagnaFlow MF Series cat-back exhaust system with black tips is for those of you that have a 2018 and up JL with the 3.6 liter engine that are looking for an aftermarket exhaust that's going to offer a little bit of additional exhaust volume, a lower exhaust note and a more aggressive and different style out the back of your Jeep by having this dual black tip setup. Now, any time you add an exhaust system to your Jeep, any time you allow the engine to breathe a little bit easier in or out in the case of an exhaust system, you can expect a little bit more power as well. I wouldn't expect this to be like flicking a light switch and all of a sudden unleash a ton of power out of your Jeep, but you should see a little bit of power increase especially in the higher RPM band when you have this system installed on your Jeep. And this is going to be a nice easy system to install, one out of three wrenches here. This comes with an extension pipe, so you can just not install that. If you have a two-door install it, if you have a four-door, there's no pipe to cut at all which makes this very, very, simple. And we'll talk about exactly how to get this installed in just a second. Now, when you're looking at aftermarket exhaust systems, the price is often tied to the material used, also the quality, but the material is a big driving factor. And this is going to be 409 stainless steel which is a nice high grade of stainless that isn't going to rust away on you. So, this is going to be a little bit pricier, that coupled with the fact that this is everything from the cat's back. So, you are going to get all of your piping, your muffler and also your resonator, means that this is going to be a little pricier than some of the other choices. If you are looking to replace everything from the cat-back with high quality stuff that's the last a good long time, get a very nice sound out of your Jeep, this is going to be an excellent choice if you have the budget. So, let's talk about what's included in this kit. You're going to have your resonator, that's going to attach directly onto the catalytic converter part of your existing Jeep. You have this extension pipe here that again is only going to get used if you're installing this on a four-door, not if you're installing it on a two-door. You have your smaller over-axle pipe here that's going to link directly into the inside of your muffler. Coming through the muffler here, of course, you'll have dual outlets. These are a nice big three-inch tip. These are black. This actually has a little bit of a metal flake to it, to the muffler which is kind of funny, it's one thing that you see all that much, but this is a nice high temp black coating that isn't going to bake off. And as I said before, this is all 409 stainless. So, you can find aluminized stainless steel which are still eventually going to get some rust on. You can find 409 that may get a little bit of surface oxidation but isn't going to rust through, and then 304 which is going to be the highest grade of stainless. So, this is going to be that 409, a nice high grade of stainless that is going to hold up and the last a good long time. But that also does increase the price.I've mentioned price a couple times now because this is not going to be an inexpensive exhaust system. This comes in at just over $900. If you are looking to replace everything from the cat-back with something very high quality and get a very nice sound, this is absolutely going to do it. And if you have the budget, I have nothing bad to say about this system. If you're looking for something a little bit less expensive, we offer those options but it's probably not going to be this 409 stainless, and it's not going to provide the refined sound that we're used to getting from a system from MagnaFlow. Now, a member of the install team will show you how to get this bolted up.Man: We're going to begin by removing our hangers that connect our muffler to the rear of the frame, and they come up in here and disconnect the over-axle pipe where the midpoint is. Now, to make my life easier, and you should try this at home, it's going to make your life easier, I'm using a little penetrating oil to go ahead and lube up our hangers, this way we can slide them in and out really easily, we don't get hung up on the rubber. Okay. Now, that we got our hangers lubed up and ready to go, I'm going to use a pry bar to pop them off. I've already loosened up the clamp on the over-axle pipe using a 15-millimeter socket and a ratchet. Now, let's go ahead and get this muffler out of here. Now, that we got our hangers disconnected, we're going to go ahead and carefully remove our muffler from our exhaust. And you want to make sure that you hold on to this tightly and stand clear of it, you don't want to drop it on yourself and get injured.Next, we're going to go ahead and get our extension pipe removed from our factory exhaust here. We're going to begin by using a 13-millimeter and loosening up this clamp up here next to your transfer case and we're going to come back here and remove this hanger and slide the whole pipe out of the way. Now with a little bit of twisting and wiggling, we can get the factory exhaust out. Now, go ahead and put this off to the side, and if it's still good, you can go ahead and sell it at a yard sale. Now, aside from your rubber isolators that your factory exhaust hangs from, there is one piece of hardware that you are going to need from factory to keep for your new exhaust, and that is this clamp that connects your mid pipe to your catalytic converter pipe. This clamp is specially designed because it is a ball fitting that seals your exhaust up so you don't have any leaks. The kit does not come with this one. I'm going to show you how to remove this one from your factory exhaust so you can utilize it on your new exhaust. Now, just using a flathead screwdriver, come in here, we're just going to pry this tab up as so, and then our old clamp should slide right out. Might need to loosen it up just a little bit more. And there you have it. All right. Now that we got our factory exhaust disconnected and removed, we're going to go ahead and begin with the installation of our new cat-back exhaust from MagnaFlow. Now, since I only have two hands, I'm going to use this pole jack as a third hand to hold our resonator up in place as we get it assembled. If you have a friend to help you, that's also great. Most of you will probably be doing this in your driveway using floor jacks, that will probably be a lot easier for you. But since we're on a lift, I'm going to go ahead and use this pole jack and let's get this assembled. You're going to begin with your new MagnaFlow resonator. Now, remember that clamp that we took off of our factory exhaust, that's where this one's going to get used, we're just going to go ahead and slide it over to the end of our pipe, slide this up into place. Okay. Now, we get that loosely installed, we're not going to tighten up any of the clamps until we have everything bolted into place, then we'll go back and make our adjustments and then tighten up all of our clamps. But, let's go and get our second section on. Now using one of the clamps supplied to you by MagnaFlow, slide it over to the end of your extension pipe and just slide your extension pipe over your resonator. And now you're ready for your third piece, and then after that we can slide on our new muffler and we'll see how this whole exhaust looks. Our next section going up is our over-axle pipe. Same thing, you want to use one of the new supplied clamps. You are going to slide it over your extension pipe. Now, this piece also has the new hanger in it so we're going to go ahead and get that slid on. Make sure you spray it down with a little bit of penetrating oil to make it slide over the rubber hanger a lot easier. All right. Now, we're at the back end of our Jeep. We're ready get our new MagnaFlow muffler installed. We're going to go ahead and get this hung on the hangers and slip the pipe on. After that, we're going to go ahead and go back, adjust everything it and tighten it all up. Now, it's a little tricky to get this last hanger on. I'm going to show you a small trick that I just noticed we can do. Bear with me, let me grab the tools and we'll get that done. Now, using a 13-millimeter on your ratchet, we're gonna go up here and remove the factory hanger, install it onto our muffler and then slide it back up into place. Now, we just go ahead and lift it back up into place. Now, starting in the rear of our vehicle, we're going to go ahead and start tightening up all our clamps. And as soon as we're done that, your installation will be complete. This is where you're going to want to adjust your tips to make sure they're nice and straight on the back of your exhaust. Now, to tighten it up, we used a 15-millimeter for the clamps that came with our kit and we still went back to our 13-millimeter to tighten up the factory clamp that we used on there. Well, that's it. That ties up the installation of our MagnaFlow exhaust on our Jeep JL Series Wrangler.
