Merideth: If you wanna switch up the sound and performance of your 2018 or newer JL Wrangler's 3.6-Liter Exhaust System, this Flowmaster Outlaw Extreme Single Turndown Exhaust System with the Black Tip will be a great option to take a look into. Now, getting right into sound, this will be a four out of five on the loudness meter, with one being completely stock, and five being wake the neighbors loud. Now, this really is going to up the volume and change the tone of the exhaust, creating a deeper and more throaty sound out of the 3.6-liter while keeping the interior noise pretty minimal, especially when it comes to drone while cruising on the highway. Now, speaking of performance being a high-clearance, exhausts will also stay out of the way on the trail, which will be great for the JL owner who doesn't care about the appearance of the exhaust and just wants the most clearance that they can get. Now, getting into the build of this exhaust, as you can see, this is very minimal and basically what you're doing here is straight piping your JL. Now, you do have a muffler, so it's not gonna be a true straight pipe, but this is going to be very straightforward and that's what's really gonna give you that substantial increase in volume, is the fact that this is very straight through as far as the system is concerned, which I'll get to in just a minute, but it's also going to be very minimal. Now, the piping will consist of 3-inch, 16 gauge mandrel bent 409 stainless steel, which is 0.5-inch larger than the factory and it's gonna beat it with that streamlined and smooth airflow. Now, the rear portion of the exhaust will also have a black powder coat finish on top for additional rust resistance. And the Outlaw muffler, again, has a straight-through style design, which will be responsible for that additional sound that you're getting out of the system, but also toning it down a hair, for a comfortable driving experience. Now, the exhaust will also reuse all of the factory hangers and dump right before the rear axle. You could get minimal and tucked out of the way to maximize your clearance when it comes to departure angles. Now, this will roughly be at $350, making this a pretty affordable option for a cat-back system. Now, in comparison to other choices on the page, again, this is going to be very simple and to the point with a no-fuss design, being that this will be minimal when it comes to the tubing itself and dump right before the axle. Now, other choices on the page may include a different configuration, like a dual or single-rear exit that reaches all the way to the back of the Jeep for more of a sporty look than this has. However, this is going to maximize the amount of clearance as to where those may compromise your clearance if you're really concerned about your departure angles off-road. Now again, I think if you're not really concerned about the look of your exhaust, you're really just looking to up the volume and the performance on your JL, then this is a great choice. Install for this will be a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you no longer than two hours to get the job done, with some pretty basic hand tools. Now, at this point, we can head over to the shop to check out a detailed breakdown of the install and what that looks like step-by-step. That's gonna wrap that for me. Let's go ahead and get into it.Man 1: The tools you're gonna need for this installation include, an impact gun or a ratchet, 13 and 15-millimeter sockets, a socket extension, a 13-millimeter wrench, a pry bar, and some lubricant. How's it going, everybody? Today, we have an exhaust to install on our JL Wrangler, and we did previously get the uninstalled footage, so we're gonna show you that first. It is on a different JL, but it is still a 3.6 JL, so it will be exactly the same. Once we show you that, I'll be back to walk you through the install step-by-step.Man 2: First thing I'm gonna do is loosen this clamp up here with a 15-millimeter socket and we're gonna work on getting this muffler out. So, we're gonna support our muffler with a pole jack, and then we're gonna remove our hangers on both sides. You're gonna have a hanger over here at the top, hanger over there. There's gonna be two bolts in it, and we're gonna use a 13-millimeter wrench and socket to get those out. The first thing we're gonna do is remove this side bolt here. This bolt is easily accessed with a 13-millimeter wrench. You can also use a socket from up above a sway bar. After that, above that bolt and a little bit further towards the back of the Jeep, you're gonna have a 13-millimeter bolt up in there. So, we're gonna take a 13-millimeter socket on an extension. To do that, I'm gonna pull that bolt out, and then we'll do the same thing on the other side. For this point in time, you're gonna hold your muffler up, remove your pole jack, get Merideth from XT to take it away for you, and we're just gonna wiggle this thing back and off. So, next, we're gonna go up to the end of our Y-pipe, next to our transfer case, you're gonna have a V-band clamp. We're gonna use a 13-millimeter socket to loosen that up. Next, we're gonna follow our exhaust back to our next hanger by our axle, and then we're gonna remove that from the rubber bushing. When you get the hanger off, you can remove the rest of your system.Man 1: And we're under the Jeep now and we're getting started with the front pipe of our exhaust kit. And we're gonna install it right here at the Y-pipe/cat. And we're gonna use our 13-millimeter socket on the factory bubble clamp. And we're gonna leave that a little loose just so we have room for adjustment if needed. Next, we're hanging up our tailpipe here, so make sure that you have the supplied clamp, slip that over the end of the inlet side of your tailpipe, and we're gonna install this right here on the front pipe. Once we have that installed and the clamp loosely tightened, we're gonna go ahead and hang it on this isolator right here.Good idea to go ahead and lube this up and/or the hanger to make that a little easier. And now to tighten this clamp down here, we're going to use our 15-millimeter socket. All right. Once you have that slid on all the way and properly seated, let's tighten this down, just enough so it kind of stays in place as it is. All right. And now let's go ahead and hit the hanger and isolator with some lubricant. All right. Now we can slide this into place, make sure that's all the way in so it's held nice and secure there.Don't want it to hit the frame, but you do wanna make sure it is properly hung. Now that that's done, we can go ahead and tighten both clamps all the way. All right. So we're gonna use our 13-mil to tighten this the rest of the way down. Make sure you tighten it to factory spec. And I do wanna point out that, if you notice that this front pipe here has a kink in it, just make sure that your kink is slanted down this way, just like the factory pipe is. Once that's good, if you don't need to twist that around once you have it lined up, go ahead and tighten this down. All right. Now we can move on to the supplied clamp. That completes this review and install of the Flowmaster Outlaw Extreme Single Exhaust System with the Black Tip and the Turndown Style, for your '18 and newer 3.6-Liter Wrangler JL. Thank you very much for watching. And for all things Wrangler, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.

Deep and Powerful Sound. Hear the awesome power of your Jeep Wrangler JL by installing the Flowmaster Outlaw Extreme Single Exhaust System with Black Tip in Turn Down style. The system uses an Outlaw series performance muffler that’s designed to generate a deep and powerful exhaust sound. Thanks to this, your Jeep will make the ground shake each time you step on the gas.
Improved Exhaust Flow. The exhaust’s 3-inch, 16-gauge, tubing is mandrel-bent, so it’s less restrictive than your Jeep’s stock component. This allows exhaust gasses to escape your vehicle more efficiently, giving you an increase in horsepower and torque as a result.
Built for Extreme-Duty Drives. Even when you’re driving across treacherous off-road environments, the Outlaw Extreme single exhaust system won’t get easily damaged. Its 409 stainless steel construction makes it remarkably sturdy and won’t succumb to the damaging effects of corrosion. Additionally, it boasts a dump-style exit to prevent the system from coming in contact with the rugged trails.
Straightforward Installation. Although this system bolts directly to your Jeep’s factory location, the task requires moderate mechanical expertise. This is to ensure that each of its components is properly installed. You can complete the installation in no more than 2 hours.
Application. The Flowmaster Outlaw Extreme Single Exhaust System with Black Tip in Turn Down style fits all 2018-2023 3.6L Jeep Wrangler JL models.
