    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com, and this is my review and installation of the Magnaflow Performance Series Axle-Back Exhaust fitting all 2007 to 2017 JKs. Today, we're going to talk about how this exhaust sounds and of course, how easy it is to install. This axle-back is going to be for those of you who wants some additional volume and a lower exhaust note out of your Jeep. Now, it is important to remember that you're never going to get V8 sound from your Jeep's V6. However, this will give you a lower note and some more volume. So if that's what you're after, this is going to be a nice option. This system also provides a visual modification to the back of your Jeep by having the dual outlets instead of the single outlet of your factory exhaust. Now, if you're somebody who is looking to replace your factory system because it's damaged, it's rusted out, or because you just want more sound and the visual mod, this is going to be a great option. However, if you are somebody who goes off-road a lot, you may want to take a look at one of the high clearance exhaust systems offered on our website because it'll keep your muffler tucked up out of the way of the rocks. So, if you are somebody who's staying on the road more and you want the benefits of this exhaust system and you have the budget for it, because Magnaflow is known for a high quality product that is a little bit more expensive than some of the others, this is a nice option. This system is made from 16-gauge 409 stainless steel. Now, the fact that this is stainless means it's going to hold up really well to rust and corrosion. It's not going to hold up as well as a 304 stainless, which is going to be a slightly higher quality and also a little bit more expensive. The 409 stainless that this is made out of will show some surface rust, especially if you're in area like we are in the Rust Belt in the Northeast where they use a lot of salt in the wintertime. However, even though you're going to get a little bit of surface rust on this, it's not going to completely rust through like mild steel would. And this is definitely going to hold up better than an aluminized steel would as well. This system is made of two-and-a-half-inch Mandrel bent tubing and has three-and-a-half-inch tips that are polished and also welded right on to the system, which I think, is a nice feature. A lot of other exhaust systems on the market, they give you the tip separately that you have to clamp it in place. This comes out of the box, everything is welded, it's solid, it uses all of your factory hangers. All you need to do is pop the old system, pop the new one on, and installation is very, very easy. As I mentioned before, the guts of this system, the Magnaflow muffler in the center is what's going to provide that lower exhaust note that you're looking for. Getting this exhaust installed on your Jeep is going to be a very simple process. In fact, you can get this whole thing done in less than an hour with traditional hand tools, maybe a little bit more if you have some additional rust. Speaking of rust, I would definitely recommend spraying the factory clamp and the factory hangers on your Jeep well before you get started with this install. It'll smooth things out drastically. Once you have everything lubricated, you can break loose the nut on your factory clamp, and then use a pry bar to pop the factory rubber hangers off of your factory exhaust. After that, that old exhaust will come right out and the new one can be set back into place. All you'll do is slide the inlet pipe over the outlet pipe that's already on your Jeep, attach the factory rubber hangers to these new hangers, and tighten down the new clamp that's included in the system. That's all there is to it. This could not be any easier to install. You don't have to jack up the Jeep. You don't have to remove anything. Anyone can do this in their driveway in no time. This is going to be the most expensive axle-back system that we offer for the JK. It has the Magnaflow name on it, which has been around for a long time. They make a high quality product. Everything is welded. It looks good, although it is an exhaust and it's going to be under your Jeep. But you can tell by looking at it that it is quality that it's going to hold up really well because of the materials and the way that it was built. It also fit very easily and very well into your Jeep and into all of the factory locations using the factory hangers. There's not going to be any modifications needed. So, if you have the budget for it, you want Magnaflow for the quality and also for the sound, I would definitely recommend going with this system. However, if all you're looking for is a dual outlet exhaust, there are some other brands on the website that might be a little bit less expensive. So, whether you're looking to replace a smashed factory muffler, one that rusted out, or you're just looking to get a lower exhaust note and some additional volume out of your JK, an axle-back system like this is a great option. This one from Magnaflow is a little bit more expensive than some of the other ones on the market, but it's made of high quality materials, and it's going to hold up really well. So, that's my review of the Magnaflow Performance Series Axle-Back Exhaust fitting all 2007 to 2017 JKs that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Construction. The Magnaflow cat-back exhaust system is made out of 16 gauge, 100 percent stainless steel with a dual split exit garnished in 3.5 inch stainless tips. The 2.5 inch tubing is Mandrel bent to provide the smoothest possible flow. The all-welded construction provides ample sturdiness supported by a lifetime warranty. Stainless steel band clamps for the installation are included in the package.

Generating a deep, throaty exhaust noise, this Magnaflow axle-back system boosts your Jeep's torque and horsepower measurably. This Dyno tested system is proven to increase performance and is sturdy enough to take on even the most rugged landscapes.

Application. Magnaflow backs this system with a lifetime warranty. This Performance Series System fits 2007-2018 JK Wranglers, including the Rubicon and Unlimited, both 2-door and 4-door models.

just the sound i was looking for!

I researched multiple exhaust systems and after an online listen and review by Extreme Terrain settled on the Magnaflow. This is a very well made exhaust with dual wall tips that will resist rust. The sound was awesome and is only getting better.

            Nice upgrade

Unboxed the exhaust looks great, clean welds. Installation took about an hour, longer to remove the older exhaust than to install the new one. It's been on about a week and I think the tone and volume of it is right . Pair with a cold air intake and it's perfect.

Sounds great and looks awesome. Relatively easy install. Took a little time with the hanger straps. Might have been easier wth the hanger strap pliers but managed ok with a channel lock and pry bar.

            Magnaflow

Love the exhaust. Had a chealer brand on my 2door. The old exhaust droned bad at 40 miles an hour. This Magnaflow has the perfect tone. Idles nice and not to loud when you rolling. I've tryed the Jeep through all the speed ranges up to 70, and it's got a nice tone. Love it!. Worth the extra money. It fits, and looks great.

            Exhaust

I am very pleased with the Magnaflow exhaust that I installed on my Jeep. I noticed an increase in horsepower. The sound is real nice also, not very loud but you can hear the difference from the stock exhaust.

            Magnaflow Exhaust

The time to install the exhaust was total 1hr. 15min. It took an hour to get the old one off. I finally had to use a heat gun on the rubber hangers because they were so hard being about 7 years old. The fit and finish was perfect and just what I had hoped for. The sound is the problem. It sounds good at idle and after you reach your final speed where there is no load on the transmission. Getting up to speed is the problem. There ends up being a loud resonating sound inside the jeep which is very annoying as opposed to a low throaty tone which I had hoped for. It is bad enough of a sound that I'm looking at going back to my stock muffler so I don't have to put up with the unwanted sound while going through the gear shifting. I was hoping for a mellow tone, not a loud resonating hum is the best way I can explain it. I hate to lose the $470 but I'm sure they won't give me my money back after running the muffler for 2 weeks. I was just hoping I would get used to it.

            Perfect

It was a very easy install, on 30 minutes on my 2015 JK. Fits perfect, the stainless tips look great and it sounds better that I would have imagined. I have the cold air intake too and combines it feels more responsive, and has the right amount of growl. I shouldn't have waited 2 years to buy one.

            Great Product

On my wife's Jeep. Was a simple install once the first hanger came off, we had some struggle with separating the stock muffler from the main exhaust (new jeep). But the new one fits great, looks great, great quality and sounds great!
