    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com and this is my review of the Barricade Mirror Relocation Kit fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. This kit is available in the textured black powder coated finish that you see here and it's also available in a gloss black powder coat. There are a few different options when you are trying to retain your rear view mirrors when driving doorless. You can either install a quick release mirror bracket on the A pillar of your Jeep and take the mirrors on and off every time you install and uninstall your doors. Another option would be to get a mirror that doesn't have a bracket and that just sits in the factory door hinge, and again, every time you take the door on and off, you have to install and uninstall that mirror. I really like a setup like this because it permanently moves your factory mirror from the door onto the A pillar of the Jeep, which helps to eliminate that additional step of installing and uninstalling the mirrors every time you take the doors on and off. Now, unfortunately with a setup like this, if you have power mirrors or heated mirrors, you are going to lose that functionality. So, if you're somebody who's in that boat and you want to retain that function, maybe one of those other options I talked about would be a better fit. However, Barricade did a really nice job of overcoming one of the other shortfalls of a mirror setup like this. Traditionally when you install the mirrors on the A pillar, because you move them forward a little bit, it can be hard to see the passenger side rear view mirror from the driver's seat. What Barricade did was make the passenger side fully adjustable to three different locations to ensure that you can see that mirror even from a comfortable seated position in the driver's seat. Overall I think this is a really well put together kit that's less expensive than some of the other ones on the market, and has even more functions. These relocation brackets are made of steel and they're coated in either a textured black powder coat finish or a gloss black powder coat finish, so you can choose whatever matches your build. They come with these block off plates to cover the factory locations where the mirrors would mount in your doors. They come with the brackets that go on the A pillar and gaskets to go between the metal of the bracket and the painted surface of your Jeep to keep it from chafing and ruining the paint. With a setup like this you do use your factory mirrors, which helps to keep the cost down a little bit over some of those quick release setups that have both a bracket and a mirror. The installation of this mirror relocation kit is really straightforward. The first step in the process is to remove the factory mirror brackets and mirrors from the inside of the door. Once those are removed, you can install the block off plates that come in this kit. After that you'll remove the two Torx bolts out of the windshield hinges in order to install the new relocation brackets into place using the gaskets that are included. After that, it's as simple as reinstalling the factory mirrors onto the new brackets and adjusting the passenger side bracket so that you can comfortably see the mirror. The whole installation process shouldn't take you more than two hours, and you won't need any specialty tools, just some Torx bits. This kit is priced really fairly for what you get. Between the gaskets, the block off plates, your choice of finishes, and the adjustability of the passenger side mirror, I think you get a lot of features, and it's definitely worth the price. So, if you want to stay both legal and safe when driving without your doors on, and you're somebody who either doesn't mind losing the power functions of their factory mirrors or doesn't have them to start with, I think this is a really nice kit that saves you an extra step every time you take your doors on and off. So, that's my review of the Barricade Mirror Relocation Kit fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Relocates Mirrors From Door To Body. If you love driving your Jeep around in the summer months without the doors on, a Barricade Off-Road Mirror Relocation Kit will relocate the stock mirrors from the doors to the windshield frame keeping you street legal and improve your range of visibility at the same time.

    Unrestricted Field of View.
The Barricade Off-Road mirror relocation kit features an adjustable three position passenger side bracket for a clear field of view "with or without" the factory full doors installed. Unlike other manufactures relocation kits that partially block vision making them extremely unsafe for everyday daily driving.

Heavy Duty Construction. Manufactured from heavy duty stainless steel for strength these Barricade Off-Road Relocation Brackets are completed in a durable textured black powder coat finish for aggressive good looks and corrosion resistance.

Easy, Bolt-on Installation. The Barricade Off-Road Mirror Relocation Kit is engineered to be a direct bolt-on upgrade using just basic hand tools, so there is no drilling or cutting required for a clean straight forward installation.

    Application.
This Barricade Off-Road Mirror Relocation Kit is specifically designed for use on all 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK models. Both driver and passenger side brackets are included.

Please Note. This Barricade Off-Road Mirror Relocation Kit reuses the stock mirrors. This kit does not retain use of heated or electric mirrors.

After installing this is there any problem opening the door? Will the door bump into the mirror in the mirror's new location? Thank you.

    EricS

    • The Barricade Textured Black Mirror Relocation Kit is designed so the door will not bump into the mirror as long as the door straps are attached to the door.

My 07 mirrors will not fit it the relocation bracket. Only go about 1/2 way in. Both sides have same problem. The bracket hole is either too small or the 07 mirrors are bigger than other years. I thought I might be able to screw it down but the bolt is not long enough to reach due to mirror not seating all of the way. Any hints?

Does the mirror relocation kit work with power mirrors? I bought the kit, and dont see how it will work with them on a 2016 Rubicon,

Is there any way I can order a driver side bracket with the extension.i have different mirrors that work with the extension.

    LauraM

    • The Barricade Black Mirror Relocation Kit - Pair (07-17 Wrangler JK) only comes with a passenger side extension bracket, unfortunately a driver side extension would not be a available.

Got the kit installed, works pretty well! I cut my power mirror wires and taped them off incase I ever want to have them connected again. Dont really care about the power mirror option as the relocation benefit outweighs the power. One issue I see is the passenger side is vibrating big time and shaking the mirror. I have it in the 2nd hole of extender but I actually planned to move it out further to the 3rd. Everything is super tight. I think if I stuff something rubber in there it should help. Anyone fixed this with a good solution?

    Dan

    • When installing the Barricade Mirror Relocation Kit you should not run into any vibration issues. A rubber insulator may reduce the amount of vibration you are experiencing, however if you contact our Customer Service Department, we can determine what is causing this to come up with a more specific fix.

I purchased this for my 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and then purchased some manual mirrors to put in since my mirrors are powered. Noticed that the metric bolt that came from the manufacturer doesn't fit inside the hole cover for the door. I am guessing the threads are made for a standard bolt. Also the bolt wasn't long enough for me to actually use to bolt the mirror to the frame. I had to go purchase a longer bolt to even be able to get it to thread correctly. Is this normal? Did I just get some faulty product?

Review from Barricade Black Mirror Relocation Kit - Pair (07-18 Wrangler JK)

      Functional but looks terrible

Easy install well built product but looks weird with the passenger side mirror sticking out way further than the driver side mirror. If looks don’t matter, this is the product for you!

      Great Product

Really easy to install. I think it looks good. I have had no issues with the mirrors not staying in place. You do have to use the third position on the passenger side to get the mirror far enough out for practical use.

Would probably be 5 star, BUT.....

Went to install these, and 1 of the door plugs wasn't tapped well. Can't even get the bolt 3 threads into it before it tries to cross-thread. Hey XT, what size tap do I need to retap this or can you send another that's tapped correctly?

      Great idea...execution not as much

I really liked the idea since I never understood putting the mirrors on the removable doors. I wasn't a fan of the passenger side having to be extended out so far to be visible from inside the vehicle. The bolt used to adjust said arm rusted within a week of install. The mirrors did not fit into the brackets very easily, had to use a longer bolt to get the mirror to seat in its place at the end of the new relocation bracket.

      great product

works well, needed to buy rubber bushings for the bottom of the arms, seems the holes were to big, so there was wobbling in the actual mirror. but once i got the bushings it was fine.

Review from Barricade Black Mirror Relocation Kit - Pair (07-18 Wrangler JK)

      Awful!

This was supposed to fit my 2010 J/K, but the first problem I noticed was the fact that the instructions did not match my vehicle. It calls for tools that do not match...should have been my first Red Flag, but I pressed on with removal of the factory mirror. After speaking with ET customer support, I was told I would have to remove additional screws...this is not a compatible part with my vehicle, thus the 1 star rating. This is being returned!

      Might've done the job but...

No way to know yet. Threads on the block-off plates were mis-tapped and damaged the stock bolts when trying to tighten them down. So now I have to re-tap the threads and replace the damaged bolts. Thanks for that Barricade. At this point I'm not sure I'm even going to install them. Should've gone with a different product. Lesson learned.

      Good product, except...

The brackets are a great idea and look great, but I had issues with the product itself. One of the plates had to be rebored as the screws wouldn’t fit leaving me to drive around with the exterior holes in the door exposed until I could get someone to run a boring tool through it. And the bolt on the adjustable arm is already rusting.

Overall, very good for the price.

The product works very well. The fittings aren't stainless (hence 4 stars), so there's a bit of rust after a season of weather. They were harder to install than I had hoped, but this was because of the difficulty in removing the factory installed mirrors.

      Did not fit mirrors

Followed the year/model recommendations and found that the mirror posts do not fit in the extension holder. It does not accommodate the fold in feature at all so the mirrors can collapse if necessary. Not happy that I chatted directly with ET online and they provided selection. Beware of getting this item.

Barricade Textured Black Mirror Relocation Kit

The kit seemed to be made well until I went to install. I had to use an impact driver on two of the bolt because the threads on the kit were messed up. The kit moves the mirrors forward which is fine except now the door frame blocks a quarter of my view on the passenger side. That is with it positioned out all the way which also causes a major vibration when driving. I definitely will be looking for a better solution.

      Good Product

This item looks good and solved my issue with having mirrors when my doors are off. It also solved the visibility issue with the passenger mirror when the mirrors are moved forward. My only complaint is the passenger mirror shakes when at higher speeds due to the extension. Over all I am please with my purchase.

      Factory mirrors don't fit!

If you have OEM mirrors they won't fit in the hole. I have to grinder them so they can fit. The passenger side with the extension shakes a lot while driving, so i have to drill them on the sides and tight it with extra bolts to avoid the vibration. After all those headaches and figure it out, now i can give them 5 stars, but the item with out the modifications i can only give them 2 stars.
