Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from ExtremeTerrain.com and this is my review of the Barricade Mirror Relocation Kit fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. This kit is available in the textured black powder coated finish that you see here and it's also available in a gloss black powder coat. There are a few different options when you are trying to retain your rear view mirrors when driving doorless. You can either install a quick release mirror bracket on the A pillar of your Jeep and take the mirrors on and off every time you install and uninstall your doors. Another option would be to get a mirror that doesn't have a bracket and that just sits in the factory door hinge, and again, every time you take the door on and off, you have to install and uninstall that mirror. I really like a setup like this because it permanently moves your factory mirror from the door onto the A pillar of the Jeep, which helps to eliminate that additional step of installing and uninstalling the mirrors every time you take the doors on and off. Now, unfortunately with a setup like this, if you have power mirrors or heated mirrors, you are going to lose that functionality. So, if you're somebody who's in that boat and you want to retain that function, maybe one of those other options I talked about would be a better fit. However, Barricade did a really nice job of overcoming one of the other shortfalls of a mirror setup like this. Traditionally when you install the mirrors on the A pillar, because you move them forward a little bit, it can be hard to see the passenger side rear view mirror from the driver's seat. What Barricade did was make the passenger side fully adjustable to three different locations to ensure that you can see that mirror even from a comfortable seated position in the driver's seat. Overall I think this is a really well put together kit that's less expensive than some of the other ones on the market, and has even more functions. These relocation brackets are made of steel and they're coated in either a textured black powder coat finish or a gloss black powder coat finish, so you can choose whatever matches your build. They come with these block off plates to cover the factory locations where the mirrors would mount in your doors. They come with the brackets that go on the A pillar and gaskets to go between the metal of the bracket and the painted surface of your Jeep to keep it from chafing and ruining the paint. With a setup like this you do use your factory mirrors, which helps to keep the cost down a little bit over some of those quick release setups that have both a bracket and a mirror. The installation of this mirror relocation kit is really straightforward. The first step in the process is to remove the factory mirror brackets and mirrors from the inside of the door. Once those are removed, you can install the block off plates that come in this kit. After that you'll remove the two Torx bolts out of the windshield hinges in order to install the new relocation brackets into place using the gaskets that are included. After that, it's as simple as reinstalling the factory mirrors onto the new brackets and adjusting the passenger side bracket so that you can comfortably see the mirror. The whole installation process shouldn't take you more than two hours, and you won't need any specialty tools, just some Torx bits. This kit is priced really fairly for what you get. Between the gaskets, the block off plates, your choice of finishes, and the adjustability of the passenger side mirror, I think you get a lot of features, and it's definitely worth the price. So, if you want to stay both legal and safe when driving without your doors on, and you're somebody who either doesn't mind losing the power functions of their factory mirrors or doesn't have them to start with, I think this is a really nice kit that saves you an extra step every time you take your doors on and off. So, that's my review of the Barricade Mirror Relocation Kit fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Relocates Mirrors From Door To Body. If you love driving your Jeep around in the summer months without the doors on, a Barricade Off-Road Mirror Relocation Kit will relocate the stock mirrors from the doors to the windshield frame keeping you street legal and improve your range of visibility at the same time.

Unrestricted Field of View.
The Barricade Off-Road mirror relocation kit features an adjustable three position passenger side bracket for a clear field of view "with or without" the factory full doors installed. Unlike other manufactures relocation kits that partially block vision making them extremely unsafe for everyday daily driving.

Heavy Duty Construction. Manufactured from heavy duty stainless steel for strength these Barricade Off-Road Relocation Brackets are completed in a durable textured black powder coat finish for aggressive good looks and corrosion resistance.

Easy, Bolt-on Installation. The Barricade Off-Road Mirror Relocation Kit is engineered to be a direct bolt-on upgrade using just basic hand tools, so there is no drilling or cutting required for a clean straight forward installation.

Application.
This Barricade Off-Road Mirror Relocation Kit is specifically designed for use on all 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK models. Both driver and passenger side brackets are included.

Please Note. This Barricade Off-Road Mirror Relocation Kit reuses the stock mirrors. This kit does not retain use of heated or electric mirrors.

After installing this is there any problem opening the door? Will the door bump into the mirror in the mirror's new location? Thank you.

  • The Barricade Textured Black Mirror Relocation Kit is designed so the door will not bump into the mirror as long as the door straps are attached to the door.

  • The Barricade Black Mirror Relocation Kit - Pair (07-17 Wrangler JK) only comes with a passenger side extension bracket, unfortunately a driver side extension would not be a available.

Got the kit installed, works pretty well! I cut my power mirror wires and taped them off incase I ever want to have them connected again. Dont really care about the power mirror option as the relocation benefit outweighs the power. One issue I see is the passenger side is vibrating big time and shaking the mirror. I have it in the 2nd hole of extender but I actually planned to move it out further to the 3rd. Everything is super tight. I think if I stuff something rubber in there it should help. Anyone fixed this with a good solution?

Dan

  • When installing the Barricade Mirror Relocation Kit you should not run into any vibration issues. A rubber insulator may reduce the amount of vibration you are experiencing, however if you contact our Customer Service Department, we can determine what is causing this to come up with a more specific fix.

I purchased this for my 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and then purchased some manual mirrors to put in since my mirrors are powered. Noticed that the metric bolt that came from the manufacturer doesn't fit inside the hole cover for the door. I am guessing the threads are made for a standard bolt. Also the bolt wasn't long enough for me to actually use to bolt the mirror to the frame. I had to go purchase a longer bolt to even be able to get it to thread correctly. Is this normal? Did I just get some faulty product?

This question has been asked several times - but not answered. Simplified - where do the wires from the power/heated mirrors go when the mirror case - to which they are attached - is relocated? The wires do not have a plug -that I can find- that is short enough to tuck into the mirror case. The only plug I've found is under the dash, several feet from the mirror case and way to long to store in the case. If the plug even fits through the door mount hole. The videos show non powered mirrors. Might I suggest you actually try to relocate powered mirrors and share how it's done? If it can be done.

DarrinC

  • Unfortunately any time you are relocating your mirrors to the body of your Jeep you will loose all power functions (i.e: window controls, heating, etc.)

    Barricade Mirror Relocation

Installed these myself yesterday and I am pretty happy with the way they look and function. My main goal was to have these for when I take my doors on and off and not having to add and takeaway placement mirrors in the hinges. My only problem with these brackets is that the stock mirrors do NOT fit. I had to use some WD-40 and a hammer (mallet if you have one) to get them in the brackets and they still sit a little outward. Other than that I am pretty happy with my purchase.

    Waste of Money

I thought I was going to love these but I ended up throwing them in the trash. With the doors off they are ok at best but with the doors on the mirrors are to low. The driver side is viewable but the passenger side even with the bracket you have to lean over towards passenger seat to see out of it. The brackets need extensions to raise the mirrors higher.

    A bit disappointed.

Purchased this product and received it. Installed them immediately and wasn't happy with them. They wouldn't look bad if your jeep had a wide stance but that was the least of my issues. The drivers side bracket was welded wrong and was offset. Mirror wasn't fully flush/level which was an issue. The passenger mirror I still couldn't see entirely even with it extended to the maximum. Despite this, every bump I would hit, both mirrors would shake uncontrollably. When idle with the engine on, the drivers side mirror would viciously raddle and shake until I started moving again.

    Mirror relocation

Great product! I purchased another brand but was unable to use the passenger mirror. This design being able to extend the mirror out is great, just what you need to be able to use the mirror. The product is made of quality materials. I would recommend this product to everyone.

    Set em and forget em.

Installing these mirror relocation brackets were a breeze. The only issue I had was that the thread inside the existing mirror was somehow stripped so I couldn't get a tight fit, allowing the mirror to float and not stay in place. Nothing like a little JB Weld to take care of that issue, not like I have to take the mirrors off and on now. The wind still seemed to allow the mirrors to "float" a little so I dabbed a little JB Weld around the bolt head to lock it in place. They survived the 30mph wind gusts in central Texas yesterday with no issues.

Review from Barricade Black Mirror Relocation Kit - Pair (07-18 Wrangler JK)

    Could be a little better

I like the mirrors overall. One thing I had a difficult time was with the removal of the mirrors. The directions were not clear at all. I had to go to YouTube to figure it out almost damaging the passenger mirror. I finally got them installed. They look nice on my Jeep. The other concern is that the passenger mirror does not give you the best view, even with the ability to extend the mirror out. With that concession in mind, I still like these mirrors. Just having the ability to remove my doors and still have mirrors is awesome.

Review from Barricade Black Mirror Relocation Kit - Pair (07-18 Wrangler JK)

Great product, but needs work on mirror fitment

I've been looking at the Barricade Removal mirrors for when I take my doors off and I saw these relocation brackets and thought they would be better so I wouldn't have to keep changing mirrors on and off. They fit on the body of my Jeep good, but the instructions on how to install the mirrors could be better. My passenger mirror fits perfectly like it did in it's stock holder, but my driver won't completely stick and the T40 Torx bolts they tell you to place in after installing won't fit through either mirror holder. So on my driver side I'm left with a long screw holding that one in. Other than the staying put issue on my driver side, the relocation brackets are a great invention for when the doors are off. Make sure the passenger side mirror is either 2 positions out of the bracket or all the way or else you won't be able to see anything.

    Going Doorless

The process of removing existing parts and installing new ones on a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Willys was quite easy. The most difficult part was removing the mirror assembly from the OEM mirror, which is a Jeep issue and not symptomatic of this part. Be sure to leave the mirrors mounted to the car so you can remove the mirror assembly with some leverage. The wrinkle coat is a nice look especially on a black Jeep. The passenger mirror even with the ability to extend it out further was still a bit obstructed, but far better than if extension weren't possible. All in all,a good product for the money that will allow you to go Doorless legally.

    Easy Fit

I purchased these for my JK and was impressed. All though you got to screw in bolt and pound out the old factory mirrors from housing that was the only difficult part about them. They make a slight wind barrier noise but not so bad as well as getting the socket inside the housing to install them. Over all good product nice that I can take off my doors now!

Great product, mirrors a bit low, dash gets in the way of seeing

This product was installed easily and fast. It looks great. The only downside is the passenger side mirror, its hard to see all of it, due to the dash being in the way, but it still works. It works even better with doors off and looks good.

Review from Barricade Black Mirror Relocation Kit - Pair (07-18 Wrangler JK)

    Great product

I was worried about my son riding around without mirrors from a law enforcement point of view. The law requires a mirror to be able to view 200 feet behind you, which the rear view mirror does but I always worry about that one cop that likes to push kids around. I purchased the relocation kit and he and I installed it in about 1/2 an hour. Looks great and he says it is much better having the side view mirrors when riding without doors. Very easy to install and Jeep looks totally stock with this system.

Good solution, not what I expected...

I needed to get longer bolts from the hardware store in order to attach my existing mirrors to the new brackets. I also purchased some rubber washers/gaskets (see the customer photo) as the mirrors didn't seem to be able to tighten all the way down. I also agree with the other reviewer that the passenger side mirror still is not as visible as I'd like, which was the point of the extended bracket in the first place. It's definitely an improvement, as before I was using a tow extension mirror while I waited for these to be shipped. For anyone wanting to move their mirrors from the door, I'd suggest carefully considering all options.

Review from Barricade Black Mirror Relocation Kit - Pair (07-18 Wrangler JK)

Mirrors do not sit in brackets that good.

The mounts themselves fit great on the jeep however, the original bolts from the mirror are not long enough to re-attach the mirror. The bolts I removed are about 1-1.5 inches too short. This may be due to holes on the mount being slightly too small. I had to twist them on in such a way removed the paint in order for mirrors to be seated in the holes of the bracket.
