Tailgate Reinforcement. Designed to redistribute the weight of your JK's spare tire across the entire tailgate, Barricade's HD Tire Carrier with Mount will eliminate unwanted metal fatigue caused by over sized spares. The Wrangler's sheet metal tailgate may not be the strongest in the world, but with this big, beefy Tire Carrier in place you won't have to worry about any undo stress or strain. Barricade's HD Tire Carrier will not affect the daily operation of your Jeep's tailgate.

Heavy Duty Construction. Barricade Off-Road manufactures their HD Tire Carrier and Mount from 5mm thick, hot rolled carbon steel plate for superior strength and extra rigidity. Barricade then completes the entire Carrier in a two stage finish using epoxy pre-coating and high-grade textured black powder coating for long lasting durability.

Bolt-on Installation. Barricade designed their HD Tire Carrier to be a direct bolt-on upgrade for all Jeep JK. As a direct bolt-on, this Barricade Tire Carrier reuses the original factory mounting points and does not require any additional cutting, drilling, or fabrication for installation.

Application. This Barricade Heavy Duty Spare Tire Carrier with Mount is designed to reuse the factory 3rd brake light on 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK, including the 2-door and 4-door models.

            Drops rusty water when wet

The install was ez the fit and finish was good. At max it could hold a 35” tire, fully extended and adjusted and the 35” tire just barely clears bumper. My ONLY issue is that when it gets wet the carrier drops rusty water all over the bumper. This has to be from the inside of the carrier based on how it’s designed and you can’t get in there and paint it to stop the rusty drops that look like helll on your bumper. This reason is big enough imo to rate it 1 star as it affects the appearance, now if you don’t care about the rust then it’s a great deal.

            33's weighing in @ 104 each!

After my lift and larger tires, I needed something to hold the spare so the tailgate would not weaken. This tire carrier actually changes the physics on how the spare is held. The stock tire carrier with a 60 lb. tire reacts on the tail gate which is connected to the hinges. This carrier is hinged with a solid piece of steel that holds the tire and the tail gate. No more rattling or sagging from the stock tail gate. I've had it on for months without any signs of weakening. Great solution for the money!

            Fully Adjustable Height and Depth!

We went from stock 17" Jeep wheels and tires to 18" wheels and 35s. Was worried about stress on tail gate. Love that this is fully adjustable up and down as well as in and out to get the perfect height and depth to accommodate larger 35 inch tire.

Extremely good quality for the comparative price

This product was my personal choice at the 'budget' end of the tire carrier spectrum. It's super heavy duty and built to last, the quality is for sure not what suffered the pay cut. Where you see the budget end of things is on the finish of the piece. It's not uniform and in a few places necessitated cleaning out bolt holes. Otherwise I'm extremely happy with it.

            Very Sturdy

Really impressed with how much adjustment this carrier has. Doesn’t matter what size tire and rim you have. It can adjust up if you have 37s or down if you have stock. And out if you have an aftermarket rim with a deep lug.

            Rugged carrier

Need to carry an oversized tire with no worries, then this is for you. Super easy to install, completely solid, good hardware supplied. Instructions are o.k, if you are not somewhat mechanically inclined, the directions may be tough. But if you have turned a wrench before, you’ll be just fine.

            Stout and heavy.

The good: Well made and adjustable both up and down and in and out to accommodate larger tires. The bad: The hinges have no stopping point and will allow the gate to swing past the breaking point of the gate hinge. Also, I had to RTV silicone all of the spaces between the welds before installation to keep water from getting into the carrier. Otherwise you'll have rusty water covering your bumper. The RTV took care of this issue.

            Well worth the money!!

Hi I installed the carrier this evening and this thing is both solid and very heavy. The tire 35" have no movement and seems very solid. Pretty easy to install. The only reason for 4 starts is because the directions are almost worthless. The pictures are black. This has been mentioned many times and you would think it would be corrected by now. For the product it is 5 stars. Get it and save alot of money compared to the other brands.

This was one of the most nicest aftermarket parts I’ve bought for my Jeep jk. The quality n look was outstanding! I would definitely recommend to anyone who will be installing a aftermarket wheel n tire.

            JK Tire Carrier

This is truly a heavy system, but it installed really easy (almost). The included instructions were HORRIBLE. The pictures were all black and nothing could be seen. The product itself is great.ET gave me an awesome deal on it. I don't fault ET for the directions. I'll post pictures later. Dave

Feels sturdy! Looks good But theres a design flaw

Came in quick. Packaged well. I bought this to replace my smittybilt xrc bumper/tire carrier combo. We tow a trailer and need the extra clearance and opening the tire carrier and door separately is tedious over time. Install was going well until I realized you need the factory hardware for mounting. Because I have an aftermarket tire carrier, I don’t have them anymore. Quick trip to the auto store and back to work. Get everything lined up mounted without issue and BAM! The nut welded inside the mount snaps free with the bolt half threaded. Why they chose locking nuts for every other part of this mount except inside where you cannot reach is a huge design flaw. You cannot reach the nuts that are merely tack welded into place. I contemplated taking it all off and sending it back for a replacement but currently have it mounted with 3 of the 4 bolts in place. One star off for the nut breakage. Another star off for the horrible directions, which you cannot see at all. With all that said, it’s worth the price. Better quality means bigger price. It looks good and functions (for now).

            FIREFIGHTER

Great product much heavier than original. Heavy enough that you will notice it the first time you drive with it. Good design, multiple adjustments for tire size. Only one complaint is the way the third brake light attaches. It is functional but not as well engineered as the rest of the product. But still an all around great product.

            Nearly Perfect

The Barricade HD Tire Carrier fits and works perfect. Fairly quick and easy to install. After putting an aftermarket bumper on I had trouble with the spare fitting, this fixed it and it looks great too. Only problem, is the geometry is not correct for the stock tailgate check which bent and broke first time closing it. Idiot me bought another one before I figured the problem out that broke too... Replaced it with a piece of webbing and all is good. Great product.

            Feels Solid

The first thing I noticed after install was a satisfying heft to the tailgate. Opening and closing it feels more like a bank vault now. Everything fit the preexisting holes no problem. My long time to install is misleading. I did it with hand tools and between a few beers on a lazy Saturday afternoon, with no special need to get done quickly . If I was in a hurry, I could have done it in an hour. One useful note: The T50 socket bit that you need to remove the tailgate hinges should be included in the door removal kit pouch that came with your wrangler when you bought it, so check that before running out to buy one.
