      Review & Installation Video

Ryan: The Teraflex HD Hinged Carrier Accessory Mount is for those of you that have a 2007 and up JK that has the Teraflex HD tire carrier installed on it. This is not going to work on your factory tailgate. However, if you have that Teraflex carrier, this is going to give you the ability to very easily mount a Hi-Lift style jack, one of those farm jacks on your Jeep and you can also get an additional piece that will allow you to mount a RotopaX liquid carrier. So for additional fuel, water, whatever you wanna carry, you can also attach that onto this carrier. So you're gonna have a couple of different options there. If you already have that Teraflex tire carrier on your Jeep, this is going to be a very easy piece to install, one out of three wrenches, won't take you more than an hour to complete, definitely bolt-on. And we'll talk about that in just a second. So, even if you have a larger four-door JK, there's not a ton of space on the interior. Even in that cargo area, it can get filled up pretty quickly. So if you're looking to carry things like a farm-style jack for off-road recoveries or additional fluids with you, mounting them on the outside of the vehicle is very nice. It frees up some space on the interior. So having this mount is going to give you a bolt-on way to do that. Now, as with all things Teraflex, this is going to be a very high-quality piece. Fit and finish are all there, engineering is there, but this is going to be a little bit more expensive than some of the other farm jack mounts that you can purchase. This is going to be a piece that is computer designed, CNC cut and bent, powder coated. Everything is done at the highest level, giving you a very high-quality piece. Even though that does drive up the cost a little bit, but if you're somebody who subscribes to the idea that you buy the best possible thing and want to spend a little bit more money once and you don't have to replace it, then this is going to be a great choice for you. This carrier comes in at $100, which I do think is a pretty good deal for the quality that you're getting. If you've already got that hinged tire carrier, you know Teraflex's quality, you know the price that's associated with that quality, and you know that if you spend $100 on this piece, you're only gonna have to purchase it once. It's going to last. Now, I'll have someone from the install team show you how to get this bolted on your Jeep.Man: We'll begin this installation by removing our spare tire, using a 19-millimeter socket. Next, we're gonna use a 12-millimeter socket to loosen this bolt and remove this bolt completely. Next step, we're gonna take our accessory bracket. We're gonna take the long, skinny bolt provided by Teraflex. We're gonna place a washer on there. We're gonna insert that through this backside hole. On the other side, we're gonna use our aluminum spacer. And then, we're gonna insert that through the bolt hole that we removed. So we're gonna get that bolt started. We'll use the 13-millimeter socket to tighten that up slightly. Once you have a little bit of a snug, we'll get the other three bolts in.Next step, we're gonna insert our three stubby Allen-head bolts. So we have one here in the bottom, one in the middle right here, and then we have one here at the top. To tighten these up, we're gonna use an 8-millimeter Allen-head socket. Then, we're gonna use a 13-millimeter to tighten up the new bolt with the spacer. We're gonna use a 12-millimeter to tighten the other bolt up.Now, if you are planning on installing a jack, Teraflex does provide you with the hardware to install. However, we are not gonna install a jack. So next step, we're gonna put our spare tire back on.Ryan: So if you have the Teraflex Hinged Tire Carrier on your Jeep, you're looking for a way to mount some additional accessories, I would definitely recommend this mount. And you can find it right here from extremeterrain.com.

        No more sag,,,,,

Expensive, but well made addition. The support that a 35in tire requires is achieved with this Teraflex hing. Wish Jeep would had have beefed this area up when they designed the tailgate. Considering the JKs are built to be "Added to".

        Hinge upgrade

Took a couple of hours. Easy to do. Went from 31” tires to 35” tires. Much tighter door swing.

5 2013 Rubicon - JonK Installation Time: Afternoon

        Great build quality

I was pleased with the finish and build quality of the Teraflex Accessory mount. The install was straightforward and relatively easy. I did have a fit issue with one of the lower bolts aligning cleanly with the carrier holes. With some contortions and leverage, I was finally able to get this bolt secured. I now have my HiLift/RotoPax as well as a CB antenna mounted to this accessory and it has been rock solid.

5 2013 Wrangler - MattF Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Solid

Installation was fairly straightforward and took about 30 minutes. Instructions were adequate. Looks good and most importantly it holds my larger wheel and spare tire solidly. I also recently got the teraflex hi lift Jack mount to attach to it and the combo looks cool, keeps the jack outside where it belongs, and saves me from having to open two things when I need to get to stuff in the rear gate area. I recommend it.

        Jack Mount

Very solid and very easy to install. Jack makes no noise. I do have a rubber isolator on the jack. More expensive than a lot of other mounting options but well worth it.

5 2017 Wrangler - Bud Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Solid Accessory Mount

The Tereflex accessory mount is sturdy and very easy to install. Only took me a couple of minutes to complete the installation. My Hi-Lift jack fits perfectly on the mount and looks great. Couple of things to consider; 1: If you plan on installing a CB antenna do not buy the separate CB antenna mount. They use the same holes on the Tereflex hinge. So you can install one or the other but not both. Luckily the accessory mount has a place to easily install the CB antenna so there is no need for the specific CB antenna mount. 2: With my Hi-Lift jack installed, it just barely touches my taillight covers which extend out about a quarter inch from the taillight. I would definitely recommend the accessory mount to compliment your Tereflex hinge.

5 2014 Wrangler - BillM Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Bill

Nicely built and finished piece. 2 things to be aware of though. Will not hold a 3 gal RotoPax can. 2 gal or less only. Tailgate MUST be fully open when closing rear window. Window clears carrier by 1/4” at best.

5 2008 Wrangler - JustinP Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Solid, heavy construction.

It is as described, heavy duty, easy install and completes the teraflex tailgate reinforcement package. With the added cb antenna mount, I will now have to purchase a cb as well lol

5 2015 Wrangler - RocksyTheJeep Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Solid Attachment

This is a very well built mount for your jack and CB antenna, if you’re running the JK Alpha HD tire carrier. Very solid, no flex, no wobble, and the design of the mount naturally retains the jack handle so you don’t have to worry about it flopping everywhere making noise. I’m running the 4’ Firestick on a spring as an antenna, and the only downfall I’d say you may run into is the whip slapping against the jack itself from time to time. Oh, and if you have the Teralfex badge installed on the carrier, it will have to be removed. But, as you can see in the pictures, it can be reutilized on the accessory mount.
