    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com. And this is my review of the Barricade Trail Force HD Full Width Front umper fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. This bumper is also available in a slightly narrower mid-width version. This bumper is for those of you who want full width protection up front, you aren't afraid of adding a little bit of weight to the front of your Jeep and you don't have to worry about clearance issues between large tires and bumpers. I like this bumper in particular because it adds all of that protection, plus it adds a bunch of features to the front of your Jeep, and it does it all at a lower price tag than some of the other options on the market. This bumper is built from 5/32 inch steel plate. It has a two stage textured powder coated finish with an epoxy pre-coating. As I mentioned, this is the full width bumper. So it gives you protection from one fender flare all the way across the Jeep to the other side. Aside from protection, this bumper has a few other features that I really like. One is the D-ring mounts up front here that are welded on both the inside and the outside and bolt directly into the frame horns of the Jeep. I prefer having a D-ring over the factory tow hook, because with a D-ring like this you know that your tow strap or winch line is gonna stay in place without having the opportunity to pop off of a tow hook. Aside from that, I like that you can use your factory fog lights in this bumper. If you have a factory plastic front bumper, you can remove your fog lights and they'll bolt right into here without any cutting or drilling. Unfortunately, if you have a factory metal Mopar bumper from a Special Edition JK, those fog lights will not work in here. Aside from the fog lights, this bumper also has two light mount tabs up on the bumper hoop. Something that I really like is there are holes drilled in the bumper hoop to help you to run the wires really cleanly. Aside from that, you have a built in 12,000 pound winch plate that will allow you to mount a winch without the need for any additional hardware. And the opening up front here is plenty wide. Whether you're running a Hawse fairlead and a synthetic line or a roller fairlead and a steel line, there's no chance of the line contacting the bumper. Down below there are some holes that are drilled in the bumper for a little bit of weight savings but also just for style. In fact, this bumper still weighs a little over 100 pounds. So like I mentioned, you have to be okay adding that weight up front. And there's a chance that you could have a little bit of suspension sag. It's my personal opinion that this full width bumper looks really good on a JK that has factory flares or even wider than factory flares. If you are running a flat flare that tapers in in the front, I think it's a little bit of a mismatch to have such a wide fender on a narrow body Jeep, but it's up to you. Getting this bumper installed on your Jeep is really easy just like installing most other aftermarket bumpers. The first step is to remove the eight nuts on the factory bumper so that you can remove that completely. After that, you can reinstall the new bumper. This bumper has six welded studs and two bolts that hold it into the same factory location as the front bumper mounts to so, again, no drilling. It makes installation really easy. It does help if you have a dye to run that over these studs because they can have a little bit of residual powder coat on them, and it'll make getting the nuts on the studs a lot easier without the chance of stripping them. Also, if you plan on installing a winch on this bumper, I would recommend installing that on the bumper on the ground and then putting the winch and the bumper on the Jeep all as one package. It can be a little bit difficult to get to those winch bolts once the bumper is installed on the Jeep. Along those same lines, you will wanna install your factory fog lights into the bumper before putting it on the Jeep. The whole process should take about two hours. And you won't need any specialty tools to get this bolted up. However, I've said it over and over again. This is a full width bumper that is heavy, so you'll definitely wanna have an extra set of hands around to help you install it. Or, if you don't, an engine hoist can be really helpful when installing these large heavy bumpers. I think you do get a lot of value for the cost of this bumper. Of course there are less expensive mid-width and stubby bumpers, but there's a reason that this one costs more. There's a lot more material here. There's a lot more that goes into building something like this. And this is gonna be a lot less expensive than some of the top tier bumper manufacturers. And there's a reason for that as well. If you take a look at the welds on this bumper, maybe they haven't been smoothed out quite as much as some of those others, or maybe the powder coat isn't quite as consistent. But, for an item like a bumper that is going to possibly take some abuse if you take your Jeep out on the trail, I personally would rather go with something like this than to spend $200, $300, $400 more than this on an item that could get a little bit beat up. If you're looking to add full width protection and a bunch of features on the front of your Jeep and you're okay adding a good bit of weight, I would recommend this bumper. It looks good, it's really well built, and it's less expensive than some of the top brand bumpers on the market. So, that's my review of the Barricade Trail Force HD Full Width Front Bumper fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

    • Using a synthetic fairlead depending on the overall size of the fairlead their may be a small gap above and below. You can check out some of our customer photos for reference as well!

Do you sell the fog light extenting wires for this bumper

    AshleyA

    • No, install of your factory fog lights on to the Barricade Trail Force HD Front Bumper is fairly easy and usually your factory wiring is long enough. We've had customers who did not need to adjust the factory harness while other customers just opened up the split loom and accessed the additional wiring on the factory fog light harness and then redid the split loom.

I have a 2013 jk unlimited Sahara 4 door I see where some people are talking about moving the vacuum pump. What is this pump for and would I need to move it on this jeep for this bumper

    AshleyA

    • The Barricade Trail Force HD Full Width Bumper does not require the vacuum pump to be relocated. The Vacuum pump is installed in the Wrangler to ensure there is enough vacuum to operate accessories like vacuum assist brakes under all conditions.

How much front end sag does the bumper cause? 2015 rubicon JK stock, how much sag does the bumper cause due to the weight (100lb)? Looking to lift my jeep but not sure on the size of the lift to keep it level

    JoeM1986

    • The JKs come from factory with a slight rake in the front, being already a bit sag, by adding the Barricade Trail Force HD Full Width Bumper (07-17 Wrangler JK), being a heavy duty bumper, you may notice it a bit more. Usually I would recommend a leveling kit but since you are already looking to purchase a lift kit I would recommend putting on an aftermarket rear bumper that is also heavy to help even out the weight distribution. We also carry a BARRICADE TRAIL FORCE HD REAR BUMPER W/ TIRE CARRIER (07-17 WRANGLER JK) [http://www.extremeterrain.com/barricade-rear-bumper-j20849.html].

      Installation is not easy.

To begin with I like the bumper. However, the installation is quite a project. Having a friend that is a car mechanic and had a lift made it easier. 1. You definitely need 2 people to install. 2. Instructions would be nice. 3. Disassembly of factory bumper and associated panels is a project in itself if you've never done this type of thing. Which brings me back to item 2. 3. The studs / bolts didn't line up. Had to enlarge or elongate the holes on the frame of the jeep. 4. A proper way to attach the wiring harness for the fog lights would be nice. 5. Somewhere to mount the license plate would be a nice feature also.

      Tough bumper - easy install

Upgraded to this bumper from the factory bumper. It looks great, is super strong and was incredibly easy to install. My son and I did it from, unpacking the box to putting the tools away in less than an hour. I had to use fog light extension harnesses to reach the placement on the new bumper. Also super easy install. Took just a minute. Very plug and play.

      Excellent front bumper!

Bumper is excellent! Now understand it will add some weight to your front suspension. Great cost. Added a Smitty winch and rear bumper. The only issue I had was it would not level across. It almost touches the fender on the left side but I can put my fingers under the right side. I have tried to level twice with a jack. Easy to install also.

      Don’t fit with out modifications

Product came in a damaged box with multiple trips in powder coat, where winch bolts up and do long and gate the holes, must build the lake in between bumper mount in frame to bolt up otherwise hits grill, not a direct bolt on, Took five hours to install after modifying

      Does NOT fit a2018 JL

Fits a 2018 JL if you've got a hammer some adapters that aren't made yet and some power tools. Fog lights will NOT mount in this bumper without some kind of adapter that I have not found. I mounted a Smitybilt XRT 9500 and before I got the bumper pulled in the winch was making contact with the grill and I still have half an inch remaining before the bumper is tight and the winch is about 1/8 of an inch away from the front of the bumper.. Now I either have to pack it up and send it back or make a spacer to push the bumper out so the winch doesn't hit the grill. Also, I received the bumper with zero hardware. I guess that's why out of all the photos showing this bumper, none are of a 2018 JL. The bumper is also making contact with the fenders, absolutely no gap between the two. Looks like I have no choice but to return it.

Love this bumper, Yet the paint has chipped off

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT UNLESS YOU ARE OKAY WITH THE PAINT CHIPPING OFF!!! I LOVE the look of this bumper. My Problem is the fact that the black paint was obviously cheaply applied and has chipped off and now has left rust spots and chunks on my $600 Bumper (was more money when I ordered less then 2 years ago) The corner has completely chipped off and I have a rusted corner now. I feel like the money spent on this thing, it shouldn't chip as much as it has. I should have trusted my gut and sent it back when it came delivered with very small chips/ with rust spots under neath. Now over the year and a half i've had it installed its too late. Of course customer service doesnt warranty rust spots. I should add my jeep is strictly road driven, and garage kept. Not happy :( I wish I could upload a picture to show. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT UNLESS YOU ARE OKAY WITH THE PAINT CHIPPING OFF!!!

Great look and easy to install!

I have a 2012 that had the original bumper on it. I was looking for a true bolt on bumper. This was easy to to install, less then an hour. Removing the factory bumper took the most time. Once off the bumper easily slides on without having to relocate the vacuum pump. The quality is amazing for a low cost bumper. Paint is great and weld joints are top quality.

1 star- cause it came in one piece, no dings, scratches, nothing. Another star- because it was pretty easy to install. Another star- because it looked exactly as it did online, and is super heavy duty! Another star- because it looks amazing! And another star- because it was so affordable. (For someone like me who probably won’t install a winch on it)
