Hey, guys. It's Sara with extremeterrain.com. And today, we have a review and install of the Barricade Adventure HD Front Bumper, fitting your '07 through '18 Jeep Wrangler JKs. This bumper features 5/32 steel plate construction with a textured black powder coat finish. It's sure to add protection to the front of your Jeep while giving it that rugged off-road look. This bumper also includes a winch plate for a winch rated up to 12,000 pounds, high-strength D-ring mounts mounts with D-rings that are rated up to 9,500 pounds.Coming in at around $400 this bumper is on the lower end price-wise but you do still get most of the added features of the more expensive bumpers like the light mounts as well as the winch mount for the addition of those features down the road. I'm giving this install a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. This bumper does feature a bolt-up installation, however, you may need to extend the wiring harness on your fog lights in order to get them to the outside of the bumper. That being said, this all should be able to be completed in about an hour with the help of a friend. All right, with that said, let's hop right into our install. For this install, we used a 3/8 drive ratchet, 18-millimeter socket, the included Allen key, a 7-millimeter wrench, and some optional but helpful tools include an electric ratchet, impact gun, 7-millimeter socket, and a Phillips head screwdriver. All right, so the first step in our uninstall is to remove your factory splash guard and top cover if you still have them, you can do this by removing the factory pop clips. Now since our Jeep does not have these installed, we can go into the second step which is to disconnect the factory fog lights. Pressing on the tab on your factory connector, remove it from your fog light. Remove your other connector from your fog light. Disconnect your fog lights by removing the factory connector. So the next step is to remove the eight 18-millimeter nuts that hold your bumper to your Jeep, there will be four on each side. With your 18-millimeter socket, remove these nuts. With all eight nuts removed, we can now pull the bumper off of our Jeep. So now that our factory bumper is off of our Jeep, I did want to point out something here. Our new Barricade bumper relocates your fog lights from the inside of the frame rail to the outside. So in this situation, you may need to extend your wiring harness a little bit in order to get the connector that far out, but ours was already done on our Jeep, so we're gonna roll into the next step. So to remove our fog lights from our factory bumper, we're gonna remove the four screws at the back of each fog light. You can do this with a Phillips head socket or if you don't have one, a Phillips head screwdriver will work. Let's get these out. Now that we have our factory bumper uninstalled from our Jeep, we can put it side by side with our Barricade bumper, really check out some of the differences. Now our Barricade bumper features a plate steel construction which is a nice protection upgrade to the plastic of your factory bumper. The Barricade bumper also allows you to retain the two recovery points found in your factory bumper with the help of those D-rings that are included. This Barricade bumper also comes with a winch plate as well as lighting mounts for the addition of those features down the road all while allowing you to retain your factory fog lights. And speaking of those fog lights, let's check out how we install them now. At this point, we have to install the brackets that hold on our fog light. Using the small hardware, line up your bracket with these ears facing inward and the plate flush against the back of the bumper. Install the lower bolts and just leave this loose as well as the top one so we can line up our light before we tighten them down. Grab your fog light and get it lined up to these four points. Once you're sure your bracket is lined up, tighten these bolts down. Replace your fog light. Using the provided hardware, install the fog light. Make sure all the holes are still in line and continue installing your hardware. Grab your 7-millimeter wrench and the provided Allen key and tighten these down. So if you're having trouble with this last one, it's pretty difficult to get a nut and also a washer on the backside here, you can install it the opposite way, the bolt through the back, your washer and nut on the front using your Allen key to hold the backside of it. And grab a 7-millimeter socket and tighten this down. Repeat that process on the other side. Once you have all of these in place, tighten them down. Using your Allen key, hold the backside of this and 7-millimeter socket tighten this down. With your fog lights installed, you can now install these brackets that hold on your bumper. Slide them through the frame on the bumper and slide these plastic retainers on to hold these in. Repeat that process on the other side. Now we can get our bumper mounted on our Jeep and you may want to grab a friend for this step. Once the stud is through the bumper, grab your flat washer, lock washer, and nut and get these started to hold the bumper on. With the studs lined up to the frame of your Jeep, go ahead and replace your hardware. Make sure you only do the nut on top loosely because you do have to line up the bolt on the bottom. If for some reason it's not lining up, you can use a screwdriver so you get the hole lined up. You may need to wiggle the bumper a little bit. Moving onto the inside, line up your bolt at the bottom. You may need to wiggle the bumper a little to get this perfect and then loosely thread it in. Once your hardware is all snug and you're under the Jeep, you might as well connect the fog lights as well. Grabbing your factory connectors, pop these on. Once all of the hardware is in and snug, you can begin to tighten these down. Grab your 18-millimeter socket and get them tight. Reconnect the factory connector to your factory fog light. Finally, we can install our D-rings. Remove this pin from the center, slide it over the mounting point, and slide your pin through and thread it down. All right, so that is gonna do it for the review and install of our Barricade bumper. Remember for all things Jeep, keep it at extremeterrain.com.

The bumper itself is awesome. Excellently made and strong. The problem is the brackets to attach the bumper itself to the front end of the Jeep are extremely tough to get at and attach. Also striped one of the nuts trying to just hand tighten. Using some problem solving and a trip to the hardware store I solved the issue. The bumper is great just have to deal with the frustration of getting it on.Helpful (0)
