    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

This Barricade Adventure HD front bumper, fitting the 2007 and up JKs, are gonna be for those of you that are looking for a mid-width front bumper that is going to be a little less expensive, a little lighter weight than some of the other options out there, but is still packed with a ton of off-road features and, in my opinion, some pretty great style. This bumper is going to install very, very easily onto the front of your JK. As with most other aftermarket bumpers, this is gonna be a completely bolt-on, one out of three wrench installation that you can get done in right around an hour. And we'll talk more about that installation in just a second. Now, Barricade does offer a couple of different front bumpers for your JK. They have the Trail Force HD, the Extreme HD. This is going to be the least expensive of those three options from Barricade, but that doesn't mean that it has any fewer features or that it is not as well-built. Again, still very well-built, chock-full of features, but will save you a little bit of money and just gives you a little bit different flavor as far as the styling goes. So, like I said, this is gonna be a mid-width front bumper from Barricade. Because it is mid-width, it's gonna have room still for your factory fog-lights, which is a feature I always look for in an aftermarket bumper. You already have those lights, it's wired for it, switched for it. You are ready to go to use those lights, so why not pick a bumper that allows you to use them? And this will do just that. So you're gonna be able to put your factory lights right in here. As far as other off-road features go, it's going to have not just a single bar, it's gonna have a double bar, which is more akin to that Extreme HD styling up on top here. And it has two light-mount taps to mount some auxiliary lighting right on the center of the bar. Of course, down here, you're going to have a winch mount plate, so you're not going to have to purchase any additional hardware if you do wanna mount a winch on the front of your Jeep. Down here, these holes are going to be for style to lighten up the Jeep a little bit. And these are going to be more rectangular than the square holes that are on the Trail Force HD bumper. Right here, you're gonna have your D-ring mounts. And this does come with D-rings like most of the other Barricade options. So you're going to have these in order to use them for a tow strap or a snatch strap recovery. Or, even if you do have a winch, you're gonna be able to go to a snatch block, back to the bumper again using these very strong and very beefy shackle mounts. And so what makes this different from the Trail Force HD and the Extreme HD? So, like I said, the bar up on the top here is going to be kinda like the Extreme HD, being the double bar instead of the single that's on the Trail Force HD. And this area here, instead of having just one section that pops up for your fairlead mount, like on the Trail Force HD, this goes all the way across here, giving you almost a more sunken winch look, which is something I really like on this bumper. This, of course, has the same textured black powder coat finish as most of the other Barricade stuff, as well as a lot of the other aftermarket parts you can get for your Jeep, so it's going to match. It's also going to match really well to the factory black plastic accents that are on your Jeep. So you're going to have a very cohesive look. I mentioned before that the install of this bumper is a very simple one out of three wrenches, probably about an hour to get this installed. The first step is, of course, removing that factory front bumper from your Jeep. You're gonna do that by removing the fog light sockets from the fog light housings, by either pinching them, giving them a quarter turn depending on the year of your Jeep, unbolting the bumper and then just giving it a pull and then taking that bumper completely off. From there, you can unbolt these fog lights from the factory bumper and bolt them into your aftermarket bumper. At this point, you're gonna wanna go ahead and relocate that vacuum pump if you have a 2012 and up JK. That is an actual piece that you're gonna have to buy if you wanna buy a kit. Of course, you can fab something up, do it yourself if you choose to. But this winch plate will get in the way of that vac pump on the later year JKs. Once you have the vacuum pump relocated and out of the way, you can go ahead and set the bumper over the frame rails and use the included hardware to bolt it down. Now, I like to mount my winch on my bumper with the bumper on the ground instead of already having it mounted on the Jeep. It makes it easier to get to those winch mounting bolts. However, once you have a winch mounted onto this bumper, it makes the package much heavier. So if you don't have an extra set of hands to help you move this thing around, it'll probably make more sense to mount the bumper onto the Jeep and then the winch onto the bumper. Really doesn't matter, it's up to you, whatever you think is easiest and most feasible with what you have at hand. So this bumper comes in a right around $270. That is going to be less expensive than the Extreme HD and the Trail Force HD bumpers from Barricade, which are going to be other options that are going to be very similarly built and with similar styling cues. However, we already talked about how this one is going to be a little bit different. Now, there are going to be bumpers that are two, three times as much just for a front bumper that's going to have similar features and, in my opinion, its also going to be similarly well-built. Now, if you're looking for a name brand, if you want a more premium bumper that's going to cost more, those options are out there. But if you're looking for a very fairly-priced front bumper that still has a ton of features that are going to be great for both on-road and off-road, I think this is going to be a very nice choice. So if you're looking for an affordable mid-width front bumper packed full of on-road and off-road features, I definitely recommend taking a look at the Adventure bumper by Barricade that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

      Great lookin bumper

The item was great. Forget the instructions. Put the screws for the foglights in from the bottom with the nuts on top. Much easier. Use self tapping screws to mount the bracket for the foglights. Also use some duct tape to help hold the bumper bolts in place. The plastic pieces weren’t enough

Awesome bumper at any price, but...

No doubt this is an awesome bumper. Good quality finish, welds, and looks great. However... The instructions suck. It comes with way more screws and brackets than you need, with no explanation where they go. The instructions on how to mount your fog lights don't mention the brackets at all, and instead talk about nut inserts, which must've been for an older version of this bumper. Great product, but you'll have to figure some of it out for yourself.

      Adventure HD Bumper

Easy install with the right tools to make it take less time. Fog light wire harness wasn’t long enough like most people say but no splicing was required just had to cut the tubing pull it out to length and rewrap the exposed wires. Love the look winch plate and off-road light brackets.

      Great Bumper, terrible install

The good news first: The bumper is fantastic! Great fit and finish, winch fit perfectly inside. Bad: Install was a nightmare. The bolt/nut bracket design for mounting is absolutely terrible. The fog lights took small hands and more patience than I had. It was not a fun time. Once installed, looks and feels great.

Between taking off old bumper, vacuum pump relocation kit (honestly unsure if it was necessary), installing the winch and adding the new bumper, this was a whole day install. Looks amazing. Love that this bumper includes a winch mount and also has 2 light mounts.

      Great bumper but........

I rated this bumper a 1star because of the documentation. The fog lamp insert weren’t the design shown on the documents on the website and sent with the bumper. The instructions weren’t very clear on how to install the bumper with the hardware supplied. I had to duck tape the brackets to install the hardware to secure the bumper to the existing brackets. I had to contact customer service, after 2 hours on th phone I was sent another parts kits. All I heard was they weren’t responsible for the what the manufacturer sent, manufacturer was.

      Looks great BUT WAIT!

The bumper looks great and install is very straight forward. If you can turn a wrench and a socket you can install this bumper. HOWEVER... the fog lights are NOT AT ALL LIKE THE VODEO and the instructions DO NOT ADDRESS HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO GO TOGETHER! You are left to your own devices to figure it out and how it goes together. Then you get this little allen wrench to fit in this cramped space to attach some flimsy bracket to the main bumper piece. So this little button head screw is supposed to be driven through the too small to fit hardened steel hole. I had to borrow a car and go to the hardware store and get some self tapping screws to attach the bracket. Then they supply these little screws, tiny washers and tiny nuts to secure to fog light to the new home. NOT A SMALL FEAT!! This is NOT the drop in plastic screw holders and use factory screws to hold it in place like the install video... on no, no. But now that it is all said and done it looks AWSOME! This whole install should have only taken an hour or so.

      Loving my bumper

Bumper is great once installed! The installation instructions were a little vague though. We were confused if we needed a kit to rotate the vacuum pump and on my 2018 JKU, the horn is located where most kits wanted to relocate the vacuum pump. The fog light brackets fasteners were missing and we had to make a slight modification but after that installation was pretty easy.

      Jesus take the wheel

The instructions are pure garbage, I wouldn't even bother with them. Watch the review/video Extreme Terrain has for the install, that's much more helpful. Here are a few install tips though. 1. I have a 2015 Wrangler, the pump didn't need to be relocated, it looks like the winch plate has been modified by the manufacturer to avoid needing to move the pump. 2. I had an issue with the mounting bolts staying in the bumper as I tried to line up and set the bumper up on the frame. That's what the clear tabs are for, they will hold the bolts in place instead of them just falling out. 3. I did have to extend the fog light wiring in order for them to reach the new location. The bumper looks great, hands down happy with the purchase. Already getting lots of compliments on it.

      Good bumper, worst instructions ever.

Just installed this bumper, looks great, fit great. The bad as others have stated. The instructions are horrible to say the best. The small bolts, nuts washers for the fog lights are hard to almost impossible to install if you have big fingers. The job took about 3 hours to remove and install the new bumper. Definitely need to cut and splice for your fog light connectors to reach. The vacuum pump did not need to be removed. I suggest you soak your factory bumper bolts in PB blaster or similar a couple days before to loosen them if rusted.

This bumper is half the price, and all of the quality, of ones twice the price! The install was relatively easy, especially with your wife and kids assisting. The hardware was not clearly labeled, nor described in the instructions; but a little bit of DIY mechanical skills will let you figure it out ... Not worth a bad grade at all.
