I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com, and this is my review of the Pro Traxx 4 sidebar, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. These are available for the four-door and the two-door JK.These are for anyone who wants to make it easier to get in and out of their stock or lifted-height JK. A set of side steps like this will be less expensive than side armor, however, they won't provide the protection of armor. So if you're somebody who stays on the road and just wants a nice step, this is a good option. If you need the additional protection because you go off road and you want to make sure that you save your rockers, then you may want to go with one of the more expensive options that is also protection. Now, these are a little bit different from a lot of the other round side bars that we see on the market. These are an oval, they're four-inch instead of three-inch, and they have a little bit more of a chunky stepping platform. In my opinion, these do look a little bit more like a truck side step than they do like a Jeep side step, but if you like this slightly chunkier styling, this might be an option for you. These are a steel side step that's covered in a textured black powder coat finish, which looks good and also helps to protect the steel against rust and corrosion. As I mentioned, they do have these big plastic chunky stepping platforms built right into them, which is nice when you're using the side step in wet or muddy conditions. These are designed to be completely bolt-on to the Jeep, so you don't have to do any drilling to get them installed. As I said, these are a little bit different designed than some of the other ones on the market. They're more of a straight design with only a slight curve at the end. They are oval, and as I said, they're four-inch instead of three-inch, so if you're looking for something that's a little bit beefier, I would recommend taking a look at these. These sidebars will install just like any other side steps on the market, and that is pretty easily. They're all designed to be bolt-on, as I mentioned, and they come with brackets that allow you to bolt them onto the pinch seam and the underside of the tub of the Jeep. So the first step in the process is to install a nut plate in the bottom of the tub. Some newer JK's will have a threaded hole in that spot, but if you have an older JK, this kit does come with the nut plate that you need. Once the nut plate is in place, if you need to install it, you can go to installing the brackets through the nut plate or threaded hole and onto the pinch seam of the Jeep. You'll want to leave all of the brackets loose for the time being. Once all the brackets are installed, you can bolt the step itself onto the bracket, make sure it's level, and then tighten down all of your hardware. The whole installation process should take you less than two hours, and you won't need any specialty tools, just a good set of sockets. These step bars are a little bit more expensive than some of the other side steps on the market, and they are a little bit larger, so yeah, there's a little bit more material there, but in my opinion, other than that, there isn't much of a reason for them to be priced higher than the others. If you're okay going with a slightly smaller side step, there are quite a few brands that are out there, all very similar and all at a lower price point than this one. But, if you like the slightly chunkier styling of this side bar, then this is an option for you.So if you want to make it a little bit easier to get in and out of your Jeep, and you don't go off-roading where you need some side protection, this is a way to save a little bit of money. Now while these are going to be less expensive than armor, they are more expensive than some of the other side bars on the market, so if you like the styling of this particular bar, this is an option. However, if you're okay with one of the more sleek, slightly smaller side bars on the market, there are lots of options out there that are a little bit less expensive than this.So that's my review of the Westin Pro Traxx 4 oval side bar, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs, that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.
