My lift gate is missing all the seals. I had to replace the entire glass. Which ones do I need? Wrangler 06 Hardtop.

    • Hello, you will need the one pictured on this page and you may also need the Tailgate Lift-gate Glass Weatherstrip, which you can find here: http://www.extremeterrain.com/tailgate-liftgate-glass-seal-j103312.html

Hello, does this seal attach to the hardtop itself or does it wrap around the glass? Thank you in advance!

    • This is attached to the top of that tailgate.

Item J103311 MPN# J103311 Does this fit onto the (fiberglass) hardtop for a 97 TJ, or onto the glass as one review says? I’m confused. My 97Jeep TJ hardtop has no seal attached to the glass. There is a seal on the hardtop which presses against the glass when the glass lid closed.

    • The OPR Upper Tailgate Hardtop Seal is the seal for the tailgate to rear window, which will attach under the glass. This will not fit aftermarket tops.

This goes on the top edge of the metal tailgate, correct? Not on the glass?

    • Thank you for your question! This part is intended to wrap around the top of the back glass on the hard top. There is no seal on the top of the metal tailgate of the TJ from the factory, only on the bottom and sides of the tailgate. Your factory top, either a hard top or soft top, would have a seal that seals the top of the tailgate from the weather.

is this the seal that mounts on the bottom edge of the glass liftgate?

    • No, this is the part that is intended to wrap around the top glass on the hard top. The seal for the bottom edge of the lift gate can be found here: http://www.extremeterrain.com/tailgate-liftgate-glass-seal-j103312.html.

      Fit great

Best way to install that I found is to start at the two ends and work toward the middle. That way the ends end up where they belong.

      Fits like a glove

Easy to install, but be sure not to stretch it too tight. I stretched it too tightly at first and the seal was several inches too long. Don't do this. I reinstalled from the mid-point out to the edges and it fit perfectly. No more leaks around the window and reduced noise.

      Almost perfect fit

This is an almost perfect fit. I had to trim just a little but to make fit. Easy to replace. It took about 10 minutes to take old one off and install new one.

Too long, had to cut it down to fit.

The seal was too long and I had to cut it down to fit correctly. It may leak. We'll see. This should not happen for such a simple product to make and fit correctly. I would find another manufacturer, measure the length and ask the vendor for the exact length before purchasing.

      Fits perfectly!

I had been looking for this gasket for a while thinking I would have to get one from the dealer. Fits perfectly. The first time installing it ended up about 2 to 3 inches too long and found out I had put it on wrong. But when it’s installed right it fits and works great.

      Does the Job!

Needed a tailgate seal to keep the aftermarket hardtop lift gate from popping up. It's also taken care of the leak and an annoying squeaking. Only issue is that it was too long for my wrangler tj's tailgate - had to trim it.

Did not fit my two piece hardtop

This didn't even come close to fitting my two piece hardtop. I would return but I destroyed the packaging. Im not sure what top this is made for but disappointed. I used a $10 weatherproofing seal from a local chain auto store. Shipping seemed slow taking 6 business days to be delivered.

      To Long won't Fit

This item was to long and when I called company he said to scrunch it up and make it fit. This is not like door seals, it won't scrunch. Then he said to cut a piece out and make it fit. He said I could send it back but the new one would be the same length. I just gave up.

      Upper Tailgate Hardtop Seal

I wish it had come with directions. I have searched all over youtube and all I can find is how to replace a window and I don't need a window replacement. I'm sure the seal is good but have not installed it yet so can't say....

      Not quite right

Attached fine but it's not quite long enough. It seals when you first close the gate but go down the road and and the glass goes over it.

      Easy Install

I ordered this gasket because the one on my Jeep was dry rotted and no longer keeping moisture or cold air out. It took about 5 minutes to remove the old one and install the new one.
