    5 Top Rated Questions

I just received a Teraflex 2.5 budget boost kit #j10217 w/o shocks, w/adapters. I am thinking about sending it back and upgrading to a kit that has shocks and springs. The reason being and my questions also is, will the stock shocks and springs sag with a heavy bumper and a 85 pound winch on the front of the vehicle?

    • Typically we do not recommend the Teraflex 2.5 in. Performance Budget Boost Kit or similar kits for applications using aftermarket bumpers and winch, as the stock springs are prone to sagging under the increased weight. We would recommend a kit that includes springs, as these will handle the added weight much better.

Will this kit require wheel spacers or will additional parts be required if I put a 285/70 R17 size tire on the factory rim?

    • 285/70/17 = 32.7x11.2/17, while the overall height of the tire will be fine with theTeraflex 2.5 in. Performance Budget Boost Kit. Due to the width of that tire we would suggest aftermarket wheels with the correct backspacing to prevent rubbing issues while turning. If you do not want to go with aftermarket wheels with the correct backspacing, then yes- wheel spacers will be required to run your factory wheels and 285/70R17 tires.

Hi, I have a 2013, 2 door sport. Its is my daily vehicle and do mostly highway driving. I do not do much of reading but when I do it's pretty much flat terrain. I do go on the beach. Will this kit work for me?

    • Based on your description of how you drive your Jeep, this would be an ideal kit for you.

I have a 2017 Rubicon Recon Unlimited - after driving a 2015 Sahara Unlimited, the suspension on the Recon is VERY different, less control in cornering on paved roads. It still catches me off guard on occasion. I want to do a leveling/lift, but I'm not sure if I should go with shocks or w/o based on the different suspension on the Recon...any suggestions?

    • Rubicon models will have shocks tuned for off road use. The kit without the shocks will reuse the OEM shocks though the springs should help with control a bit. A kit with Teraflex shocks will give a good ride and good control for a lifted Wrangler.

Anyone installed this on a jku with stock 265/70/17 ko2 tires? Just wondering if it will look odd without getting bigger tires.

    • I think the 265/70/17 would looked fine with the leveling kit, once you go past a 2.5" lift is where the stock tires tend to look a bit small and odd. If you do have any questions please feel free to contact us via email, chat or by phone!

Ive got a 2012 JK 2 doors with Mopar 2.5 lift. Easy install

Added this kit to my 2013 JKU and also added some 18/60 springs with Rubicon shocks. Got well over a 3inch lift and no exhaust spacer needed. Also added teraflex trackbars to firm up the ride.

      Great Improvement.

Perfect solution to clear my 295/70/17 Nittos. I ended up also buying the matching shocks and don't regret it as the stock shocks are junk. It took me a weekend to do in my driveway since it was really hot out and I took my time. No regrets. It rides better than stock with the upgraded shocks. There was a bit of creaking at first, but it's gone. Love the jeep so much more now.

Just the look i was going for

I was worried my 285/75/16s would look too small with this lift but i love the look! Gives the JKU an entirely different look. upgrading to 35s next !

      Missed my ride

I didn't have a problem with this lift for daily road driving but because I purchased the boost kit without shocks, when I took my jeep off-road after 2 rides the shock relocation bracket broke on one side leaving my shock just hanging. We purchased new shocks to accommodate the lift and were able to continue 4wheeling for the remainder of the trip. However, I missed out on a jeep ride (Poison Spider Mesa) I had scheduled and prepaid for during the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab 2018.

      Great lift

I purchased the lift and installed it in my 2008 Sahara and it looks great! I went with 33” mud terrain tires and it gave it just the look I was looking for. I off-road some but do way more beach driving in OBX and now I feel like my Jeep belongs there and doesn’t look like a rental!

The kit was very complete the instructions were not very good, but nothing youtube couldn't fix. All the parts were good quality and so far 2 weeks in I am very happy with it.

      More parts needed

I just recently purchased this along with the exhaust spacer kit and installed them myself. Here's what I think is missing. I watched all the videos about the kit and a few big issues arose. 1-The front break lines were being pinched at full travel so bad the wheel locked and would not spin. A simple fix is to release the lines from the stock bracket on the lower control arm so more free play is provided. I opened the bracket with a standard screwdriver. 2-The top threads on my stock shocks broke off when attempting to remove them. I soaked them with WD-40 two days before and both still snapped. There remained enough thread to screw into the shock extension bracket but only an inch. Be prepared for this if you want to keep your stock shocks. 3- The exhaust spacers took as long to install as the entire kit. The bolts sheered of as I expected when undoing the flange and I ended up heating the pressed in threaded adapters with my torch and hammered them out with a drift. Don't be intimidated by it, you can do it. One the plus side I have no decrease in gas mileage and the Jeep no longer looks like a grocery getter. Cheers Brett

      Nice lift for your money!

The product is exactly what is described. Nice little boost without breaking the bank! I was a little nervous about what everyone was saying you need this you need that but I didn’t need anything other then the lift no exhaust spacers no muffler spacer nothing. The lift was easy to install with a buddy of mine took our time and it came out beautifully. You can easily run 315’s but since my jeep is still new I’m running my stock 265’s till I need new ones.

      Great product

This is a well rounded kit that includes everything you need to gain 2.5" of lift when on a budget. However the instructions which are supplied are lacking detail and the pictures are so washed out they are of little use. Overall a great kit and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a budget boost.

      Great Kit!

Overall it was a great beginners lift kit. I have no experience installing lifts but was able to get it done in a weekend. Most of the issues weren't the kit itself but the rust on suspension components of my Jeep. One thing that would better complete this kit is a front adjustable track bar. I'm still using the factory piece but it was hard to reinstall the coils because of the factory front track bar.

      Teraflex 2.5" BB

This is a great lift to get your Jeep on 35's while utilizing many of your stock suspension components. It is fairly simple to install, the only issue I had was getting the rear track bar relocation bracket to match up with the stock frame mount. I would recommend bypassing the relocation bracket and installing adjustable track bars if you can afford it. The ride quality is no different than stock that I can tell. Overall a great lift for the money.

      Great Product

Didn't have any issues installing the lift kit on my 2014 JKU. Took us a full 7 hours to install. This was without using any jack stands and only using two floor jacks. If we had the proper jack stands or lift it would've been a lot faster. Overall awesome product. The ride is just like the factory ride.

      Decent Low buck lift

I definitely received a full 2.5 inch lift. The rear shock extension is a weird design and was pretty difficult to install and the directions on the rear sway bars were not at all clear from the video or written instructions included. The parts as a whole are beefy and seem durable. I haven't driven it much yet so we will see how it wheels and lasts.
