Hey, guys. So today I'm here with the Superchips Flashcal F5 calibrator, fitting all 2018 JL Wranglers. The recalibrating your Wrangler after you've modified it is crucial for maximum performance, whether you've touched [inaudible 00:00:15] tires, whether you've changed your gear ratio or really anything else. So this is gonna be for the JL owner looking to modify their Wrangler in the future and once they get all their ducks in a row before they do so or they've already modified their Wrangler and they just wanna get their PCM back in check, giving their Wrangler the feel that it did right out of the factory.So I would like to mention that this is a calibrator and not a tuner. You're not gonna get a bunch of performance tunes out of this or you're not gonna be able to see real-time data. However, you will still have a ton of functions with this and still be able to upgrade and get your PCM back in check. So this is gonna have a number of different features. Like I just mentioned, this will be able to accommodate for your larger wheels and tires. You'll be able to recalibrate for your gear ratio in your differentials, as well as in your transfer case. You'll have a number of different features like reading and clearing trouble codes. You'll be able to data log this, so even though you won't be able to see your real-time data, you will still be able to choose through a couple of PIDs and know what's going on in your Wrangler and be able to store that information on your calibrator as well as download it to an Excel sheet. And you will also be able to turn on and off a couple of different accessories like your daytime running lights as well as your TPMS sensors. Not to mention, this is Mac and Windows compatible. So at the moment, this is roughly $250 on the site, and that's really not bad for a calibrator or a tuner of this size. So the only other option in the tuner category for JL will be a drive by wire and that's exactly what it says in the name. That's just gonna increase your throttle response and not really adjust or correct anything on your Wrangler after you've modified it. So this will do the same thing as a drive by wire, not exactly but it's still gonna give you an increased throttle response because you are getting your PCM back in check, you are having the computer understand what's going on. So it's definitely gonna give your Jeep a little pick up. Plus, it has a ton of different features, so I personally think that it is very well worth the price and it is a must buy when you are repairing, as well as when you're upgrading your wheels and tires just so you get that feel that you did when you got your JL. Not to mention what I do really like about this and what Superchips does offer, if you go on their website and you purchase and download a separate file, you will be able to make this a tuner and upload some performance tunes. So you can build off of this. It's not just a calibrator if you don't want it to be. You can upgrade and make this a tuner, which I personally really like. Install's gonna be a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you no time at all. So, speaking of the install, let's jump into that now. So before we hook up our Flachcal, we do need to plug in our Gateway bypass module. This is going to be for just the JLs and just allow our tuner to communicate with our computer, making sure that everything is functioning properly. So plugging this in is gonna be a little bit difficult to see because it is underneath the dash. So if you're not keeping up with me, Superchips does supply a picture and a diagram in their instruction manual on what you want to unplug and plug into the bypass module. So once we have these two wires exposed, we can plug in our gateway bypass module that Superchips provides. There will be a larger connection that you can clip in, and then the smaller connection. So once that's clipped in, we can tuck that away. You can secure that down with zip ties or any other attachment. Now we can plug our Flashcal into our OBD2 port, and I would recommend to make sure that your device is updated. So after it's plugged in, it will come up with the Superchips logo and then come to this screen. I do really like how this is a large LCD screen. It is very easy to use. It's colored and you have very easy to use buttons down here. So you will be at the manufacturer, pick your manufacturer screen. So we're going to go down to Dodge-Jeep, select "OK," and then we will have to select our year and model, JL. All right. So now you can turn your ignition on. So to do this you will just not step on the brake but you can press here engine start and stop button. So after your ignition is on, you can press "OK." And then you'll come up with a bunch of quick options. Now you'll be able to change your engine idle, your tire size, gear ratio, and you will be able to change your transfer case ratio in four-wheel low, your tire pressure, and you'll be able to monitor that as well as your TPMS sensors. You'll also be able to modify your running lights with your turn signals, your lane change, and lamp display. If you keep scrolling down you will have your accessory delay, your lamp flash, your horn chirp, auto park, off-road pages, park assist, and you will be able to exit the screen. So the first main window that pops up when you start your Flashcal will be your options. So if you click into options it will communicate with your computer, making sure that your accessory or your ignition is on. And then we have a bunch of options and parameters that we can change. So first going into engine idle. Basically, this function just raises the idle speed so if you are crawling out on the trail and you want your engine idle to be a little bit higher, then you can change this in there.So once you're in idle speed you can go up or go back down. So after ending idle, we do have our tire size. Now, this is one of the most common features for this. This is really what's going to recalibrate after you've upgraded your tire size, and you will be able to go from 25 inches to a 40-inch tire. Once you are at your set tire size we're gonna go back down to stock. We're going to save that, and that will adjust your Speedo so you make sure to have the correct speed. So under tire size, we have gear ratio, and this is going to allow you to change your gears. So you have option all the way up to a 4.88. And then we're just gonna go back to stock. So underneath your gear ratio will be your transfer case low ratio. You can change this from a 2.72 all the way up to a 5.0. Now we're not gonna change anything, we're gonna go out of that. And then underneath that is our tire pressure. So this is your TPMS low pressure sensor alarm. So you can set this to a certain PSI to alarm you when you need to put more air in your tires. Underneath that is your TPMS off-road. You can disable that or enable that whenever you like. You also have your running lights. You can set them to no running lights or any of the options above, your fog lights, your turn signals, low beams or high beams as your running lights. Underneath that, you can put your daytime running lights with your turn signal. You can either turn that on or off. You can turn off your one touch lane change assist. You have your headlamp delay, you can turn on or off. You have your accessory delay as well that you can turn on or off. Underneath that is your lamp flash, you can turn that on or off. Same thing goes with your horn chirp on your [inaudible 00:08:11], your autopark, your off-road pages, your park assist. And if you wanna return your vehicle back to stock after changing the parameters, you can do so here, and then at the bottom is your exit. So moving from the main options screen, you can either scroll right or left. Scrolling right, you do have your scan and diagnostic tool. So I really like this about this tuner. You can read and clear DTCS, which basically means you can read and clear any trouble codes, any engine codes that come up. You have your gauges and data logging, as well as your battery voltage. So moving to the read and clear DTCS, your first option will be able to read the code, and your second option here will be able to clear it. So with your gauges and datalog here, you can datalogs. You can choose from eight PIDs to monitor. You'll be able to choose engine miscellaneous, fuel trim and fuel pressure, time and distance, oxygen sensors, miscellaneous non-engine parts, your EGR/Evap, your catalyst temperature, your throttle detail, and you'll be able to start that process down there. Now, underneath engine miscellaneous you have your calculated engine load, your engine cooling temperature, your manifold ABS pressure, engine RPM, spark advance, intake air temperature, ABS throttle position, and ABS load. Moving back, under fuel trim and pressure you have the short and long term fuel B1. Same thing with B2, you have your fuel pressure and CMD fuel ratio. Under time and distance, you basically have your vehicle speed, engine start, your duration in mileage, your warm-up, and distance travel. Then you have your oxygen sensors. You can choose between bank one sensor one, and so on for all four of them. Then you'll have your miscellaneous non-engine components, like your fuel level, your barometric pressure, control module voltage, and your ambient air temperature. Moving under that, you have your EGR and your Evap. So your command EGR, your command EGR error and same thing with your Evap purge and Evap system pressure. Then for your catalyst temperature you have B1 sensor 1, and B2 sensor 1. So for your throttle detail, you will have your ABS throttle position, your acceleration position, your relative throttle position, and CMD throttle actuator. And lastly, you can start the data log. So after you are finished the datalog, it will come up with finish the datalog and you'll be able to export this into an Excel sheet and send it over to Superchips or keep it for your personal records. After that, you can manage your battery voltage. Obviously, our Jeep is not started right now. All that we have on is our accessory. [inaudible 00:11:21] is a little bit lower. And then that will wrap it up for the scan and diagnostic.So our last option is information. You can go into your vehicle information. That will show your VIN number as well as your ECU number. And if you go into device info, it will bring up all of the information about your device, all of the serial numbers and the skews that are associated with your Superchips Flashcal.
