Hey. What's up, guys? Ryan here from ExtremeTerrain and today I'll be reviewing and installing the Synper Triple Tube Rock Rails in Textured Black, fitting your 2018 and up Four-Door Wrangler JL. This is for the JL owner looking to upgrade their wrangler with some stylish protection and functionality. These are a great way to change up the look of your Wrangler while adding some much-needed side and undercarriage protection. Now, these are gonna gain you some ease of access, whether you're just hopping up into your Wrangler or you're reaching any cargo that you may have stored up top. These are an easy bolt on addition and a great upgrade over those factory ruby rails or those plastic steps helping to protect that vulnerable rocker panel. Now, these are constructed of heavy duty 2-inch steel tubing. There's a total of three tubes and they're all connected with heavy-duty steel plating. There's a dropdown tube to give you some additional lower protection and these are frame and body mounted making them a very strong item. There's a very nice flat top plate that is textured and that's gonna give you a sure footing when you're stepping up on them. Now the whole thing is finished off in a matte black powder coating. It's gonna provide that aggressive off-road styling. It's also gonna protect your investment from the elements. Now, these are middle of the road when compared to other options and very reasonable coming in right around $380. To sweeten the pot, they come with a one year warranty and not only that but they're made right here in the USA. Now as far as the install goes, I'm gonna give this a pretty easy two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter as you can get these installed in about two hours just using basic hand tools. Now with that being said, let's hop into the install.Tools we used for this install. 3/8 drive impact, socket extension, 16-millimeter socket, 18-millimeter socket, 3/8 drive ratchet. So this is a relatively easy install. Before we get these rock rails installed, there's one thing I'd like to mention. If you do have ruby rails or if you have that factory plastic step, you need to get those off. It's a relatively easy process. You'll need a 13-millimeter socket and a 10-millimeter socket to get those off. Once you get them off and ditch them, we're getting ready to prep for the step. Before we actually install the actual step, we have some hardware that we need to remove from our vehicle and we also have some brand new hardware to install. So we're gonna crawl under there and we'll get started. So these steps are going to mount to our body mounts. They're also gonna mount to our frame. So for this back body mount here and the one in the middle of our Jeep, we're gonna take off these nuts. So on either side of this giant bolt, with this bolt plate, you're going to have two nuts. We'll use a 16-millimeter socket to take those nuts off. We're gonna do the same thing for this middle one here, and then we'll work on getting the hardware installed in our frame. So the next thing we're gonna do is go up to our cross member up here. You're gonna have two holes in the frame and we get this nice little U-bolt to install. So you get this fancy little tool right here with a coil winding on the end. What we're gonna do is just go up through and then out the side of our frame and then we can attach this U-bolt to that. Now we can take this, put it through the frame, and then we'll try to line it up and get it to drop through those two holes just like that.Once we do that, we can take these off and then we have these little plastic retaining washers that we're gonna install on top of these. That's gonna keep these in place. Get these plastic little washers, I'm just gonna stick our hand through the frame. Hold that in there, and we'll spin these on.So at this point in time, we have our hardware installed, so we're gonna get ready to install a sidestep. Now, the sidestep is very heavy so you want to get someone to help you out, and also I just want to point out that you want to get the driver's side. We're working on the driver's side and you're gonna have this mount up here. It's gonna be for the frame. You have these two sections back here, those are gonna go on the body mount. This is very heavy so I'm gonna get someone to help me. We're gonna lift this up and get it on.So for these mounts back here, we need to go up inside of our body mounts. So we need to tip this edge up in there like that. That's gonna ride right in between that large plate and those bolts and then we can push it up onto those studs and get our factory nuts back on.That's gonna hold the majority of the weight for this while we get the frame section on upfront. So like I said, the trick to getting this thing on is that top flat layer of this mount. You want to go in between this round disk and the bolt heads. So we're gonna reuse those factory nuts that we pulled off. It's a kind of a tight fit, so you might want to put them in a socket on an extension to get up in there, but once we get these back two on here, we'll move up and do those other two.So once you get this front section lined up and this U-bolt drops through, each one of these is going to get a small washer, a lock washer, and a nut. Next, you're gonna have to install this rather large bolt plate through the frame. It'll be a good idea to get this thing preinstalled with one of the retaining washers as it's a little tricky to get it in here and once this is already up, but after you get it in there and come out through this side hole, next thing we're gonna do is put a large flat washer, a large lock washer, and then a large nut on this bolt.We want that bolt plate inside of there to sit above and below this hole in the frame. So once we get that situated, go ahead and tighten that nut up a little bit, and we can go around and tighten the rest of our hardware. So we're gonna go back here and start at the back. We're gonna use that same 16-millimeter socket that we took off those factory nuts to tighten those back up.Now, we'll work our way towards the front, do this other one. So up here on the front on the frame rail, these two bottom bolts here, you're gonna utilize that 16-millimeter socket so we'll go ahead and tighten those up. Now the last thing we'll do is tighten up the side bolt. That's gonna use an 18-millimeter socket. We'll go ahead and tighten that up and torque it down. So after you get this step installed, you can do the same exact thing to get the passenger side installed. However, that's gonna wrap up my review and install. Heavy duty, looks great, easy install!
These are beefy and look great. Very high quality materials. Easy install. In the video, they messed up and skipped installing the horizontal frame bolt with the little plastic washer. Don’t let that throw you or it’s a royal pain to get that bolt in right. Great product!Helpful (1)

Great product, shipping protection was only good.
I bought these steps to replace slider rails because my wife needed help getting into my 2018 JL Unlimited. These look to be a great balance between protection, looks and step use--they are low enough to provide good entry but high enough to not compromise off road ability. They are also incredibly stout. Fit was perfect, the only problem with them is that they arrived with a quarter size bare spot in the coating where the passenger's side rail had been damaged during shipping. If it wasn't for that, I would have zero complaints.Helpful (1)

Perfect fit and look great
Installed on a 2018 Wrangler JLUR. Very well packaged, not a scratch on them. Fit was perfect and install was easy with a helper. You do not need to remove or loosen the large body bolts, just the two bolts next to the body bolts. Slightly tilt the rails and they slide right over the body bolt washers. We did drill through the frame and installed the optional additional front bolt for more support. You do need to remove existing Rubi Rails so plan on doing something with the pinch seem, we filled all the holes with matching bolts, taped it off and sprayed with satin black. Only problem so far is they collect a lot of mud on top from the front tires, splash guards are going on next.Helpful (2)

Great so far
I like the way they look haven't lifted the Jeep yet so can't attest to how good of a step they are. They seem quite sturdy and do a decent job of keeping Rock from hitting the side of the Jeep.Helpful (2)

How do these compare to the JK version of this step as far as the strength on the trail? The Video of the previous model says it is not as strong as others on the market but the description says superb protection. Are these made stronger than the older model?
The Snyper Triple Tube Rock Rails themselves will be very strong, however these are not a frame mount, so the weakest point will be where these are mounted to the body.
Is it necessary to remove rubicon rails to install this product
The OE Rubi Rails are not compatible or can be used in conjunction with these rock rails.
What is the wt. for the pair .
These weigh 99 pounds total.
I posted the question about how strong these are. (question 1 above) and your answer was that it was not a frame mount. Yet the description says it is. Please confirm. My decision to purchase will be impacted by the answer. I think it is important to have the answer correct before posting as we rely on your knowledge of the product. Please confirm, do these mount directly to the frame? I think the older JK version of this does. Frame mount is better correct?
The front mount point is frame mount, the middle/rear mount points are body mount. Here are the install instructions: https://www.westinautomotive.com/images/ePIM/original/75-426025.pdf
Does the top of the side step have a tread/grip to prevent your foot from slipping if wet?
Yes, it will arrive as pictured in the product picture.
