These Rugged Ridge Front Fender Guards fitting your 1997 to 2006 TJ are for those of you looking to either change up the look of your Jeep, cover up existing damage, or add a little bit of protection. The front area of your fenders is prone to a lot of damage whether it be sandblasting while driving down the highway, rock chips, or scratches from the narrow trails. And this piece of armor is going to cover up any existing damage that you might have or protect your paint if you're still in good condition. Or maybe you're looking at these just to change up the look of your Jeep and add a little bit of style that it didn't have when it rolled out of the assembly line. This is going to be a piece that fits pretty well, will definitely change up the look, and add that protection all at what I think is a pretty fair price. These fender guards are made of a black thermal plastic that is molded in this diamond plate design, again, just to give it a little bit of additional style. These are UV protected, so even though they're black, they're not going to fade, crack or otherwise wear out when they're sitting out in the sun. And one of the best things about these is that they install very easily on your Jeep, but also very securely. These do use 3M adhesive to attach to your vehicle, but they also have a couple of screws that will hold them even more securely, so to stay put exactly where you want them. This is definitely one out of three wrench installation that won't take you more than an hour to complete probably, considerably less than that, but if there is a little bit of disassembly of your Jeep to do, so I'll say, right in and around an hour. Now, the most important thing to remember when attaching anything to your jeep with 3M adhesive is to clean the surface very thoroughly. That's going to ensure that you get a good bond between the 3M, and the body of the Jeep so everything stays put. Use a good alcohol-based cleaner to clean the surface of your fenders before attaching these, and you're going to have good luck with the adhesive. You also want to do this when temperatures are moderate, somewhere around 70 degrees is ideal. If it's too hot or too cold, again, you can have some issues with adhesion. Now, the first step in the installation is going to be removing your turn signals from the front fenders. There a couple of screws, and you'll be able to remove those. Then you'll have to remove the hood bumps that are on top of the fenders. Otherwise, they'll interfere with these fender guards. Once that's done, you can peel off the 3M adhesive, set this into place, and finally bolt up your turn signals back where they were from the factory. These come in right around $75, which is a little bit more than I usually like to see a stick on plastic piece. However, these definitely provide some protection as well as the aesthetics, so I do think they're worth to be a little bit of additional money. So if you're looking to add protection your front fenders and change up the look of your Jeep, I definitely recommend taking a look at these Rugged Ridge Front Fender Guards that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

Construction. Rugged Ridge's black front fender guards are designed with toughness and style in mind. These guards are molded out of thermoplastic and possess a rugged, diamond plate pattern.

Protection. These guards protect the area surrounding your front turn signal lenses. The UV treated plastic resists sun damage, keeping these guards looking great for years. Use these guards to cover old scars and to prevent new ones whether from the trails or the road.

Accessories. These guards come with 3M double sided adhesive tape.

Application. Removal and reinstallation of the front turn signals is required to properly install these guards. These guards fit 1997 - 2006 TJ Wranglers.

      Extra protection

I recently installed a stubby and wanted some protection on my fender so I bought these guards. They are plastic, but have a good look. They did require a little modification to fit. In my case, I used a dremel tool to cut 1/8" of the plastic from one edge, which was pretty easy to do. I also had to buy 4 #10 1 1/4" sheet metal screws to attach the guards.

      Thrilled with these.

Front of fender was banged up and crumpled really bad. Used a hammer and pliers to rough it back in shape. Fender Guard covered all the damage. You have to look pretty close to see in between the Guard and the fender flare to see the metal was crumpled. I painted that area black and it is almost invisible. I am thrilled with the result. Other side wasn't as bad but now looks great also. Because of the huge deformity in the fender I used two small-ish "industrial looking" black bolts to hold the guard up top in the correct position. It looks good. The screws holding the running light in place help hold the rest of the guard perfectly. I was planning on bolts in the bottom but they weren't necessary. Jeep looks great. Time to install isn't a factor here because of the extra work involved. But still only took an afternoon.

Extra protection with a nice rugged look

I bought these to help cover the never ending paint touch ups from rock chips. Very happy with the look and quality. My only complaints is that is you have Bushwacker pocket style fender flares, the fender guards will have to be trimmed slightly to fit flush. Easily done with a utility knife. Install was easy and quick, with the exception of extra trimming.

      Guards

Had a small spot of rust in top of fender, sanded..bondo, paint and popped these on, Had to modify the drivers side a tad bit with a dremel for a flush fit and added some additional 3m tape. Looks great and covered the ugly spot.

      disappointed

Had to fight to get these on and the fit is way less than perfect. I used silicone to fill in to keep it sealed and rust free...had I known this I would not have purchased them. They look ok especially from far away

      Front Fender Guards

Did not fit exactly . Had to do some modifications to them. The two sided tape sucks! Screws are to short. Look is nice and rugged. Thinking of putting a silicone bead across the top and down outside edge.

      Mans up the look

It does offer protection but they are more for looks. It took about 60 minutes to install. I used extra double sided tape around all the edges. fit was pretty good. once they were installed I used black silicone around allk the edges to limit any water getting trapped. I live in Phoenix so it isn't a big problem. I would buy them again. Got the rear guards also. took about 90 minutes to iunstall them

Front fender guards add a great look!

Get them on sale- the body armor is $$$ for plastic. Pretty easy to install, if you have any fender dents, better straighten it out first. Used with the matching rocker panels and back corners and tailgate strip. Love the rugged look and black out look for my jeep.

      Fender Guards

Fit is good on 99 Sahara. Good value and makes front end look rugged and distinctive, and of course adds protection from branches. You will need (2) 1.5 in. sheet metal screws to attach it, as I found the screws that came with it were much too short.

The fender cover guards seem tough and look sharp

Resilient and attractive, but they could've included longer screws since the gap is deeper than stock. I'd like white ones too.
