      Review & Installation Video

This RedRock 4x4 48-inch Extreme Recovery Jack is for those of you with an '87 and up Wrangler, that are looking for a farm-style jack for those really difficult off-road recoveries or possibly to do a little bit of winching if you get yourself into a bind where you need such a thing. Now, these are available in both red and black. Of course, I have the red on the table here with me. And the black, the only difference is the color. It's going to function exactly the same. And there are some other sizes of these available as well if you're looking for something that's a little bit smaller. Now, these jacks are going to be a little bit controversial in the off-road space. There are definitely some uses for them off-road. However, these are going to be a dangerous piece of equipment. This is not something that you're going to wanna just use to change your tires in your driveway. Even a lot of off-road recovery situations can be done a lot more safely with a scissor jack or a bottle jack or some other type of lifting mechanism because these can be very, very unstable. All that being said, there are some situations when you're off-road that a farm-style jack like this is going to be the best recovery solution. And in that case, you're going to be glad you have this. You just have to be very careful while using it. All of these jacks are going to be built very similarly. These are going to be cast iron and steel. Again, this one is red. They also have them in black. That's really the only difference between the two, and a couple of different heights are available. This is the 48-inch version that can lift 7,000 pounds. There are some smaller ones that are a little bit easier to store if you're interested in those instead. Now with this jack, because they can be a little bit dangerous to use, you do wanna be very careful. I would definitely recommend doing some research before you actually install this on your jeep. Have it with you off-road so when you do use it, you know how to use it safely and you know how to use it properly. There really isn't an installation for this jack. You do wanna be able to store it somewhere in your vehicle that it is very well held down. There are some interior mounts, some exterior mounts. You can put this in a lot of different locations. If you are gonna put it outside, make sure you grease up the mechanism very, very well. It will pay dividends in the end. The weather can really beat on these. And when you do go to use, you want to make sure everything moves nice and freely. If you are going to install it on the inside of the jeep, again, make sure this thing is strapped down and doesn't move. These are very heavy and if you get into an accident or a roll over, a flop situation off-road, you don't want this thing moving around and flying around on the interior of your jeep. It can definitely do some damage or cause some injury. This recovery jack is going to run you $80 which is right around the same price as a lot of the other ones on the market. I do think this one's pretty well-built. I think you are getting a good bit of value at that $80 price point. Like with any other tool, if you take care of it, it will take care of you. So if you're looking for a farm-style recovery jack for your Wrangler, I definitely recommend taking a look at this one from RedRock 4x4 that you can find right here at ExtremeTerrain.com.

        3 2015 Wrangler - Reaper

        Liked the finished product

Mount looks and works great once installed. Only drawback is that the mount doesn't work with after-market tires. I had to modify it by flipping it backwards and then grinding down the collar and spacing out the shaft. Luckily I am handy with things like this - but for someone inexperienced this would have been a pain.

        Easy to use mount

I used this for a shovel mount on my Jeep Spare tire. I already had a mount for my High Lift Jack. This was a nice and simple addition. Mike

        1 2002 Wrangler - BradS

Does not fit thru a jk stock wheel

The body diameter of the jack mount is 2.75” the thru hole on a stock jk wheel is 2.25” so the jack mount will not allow the wheel to nest on the spare tire rack this will not reach the bolts to mount spare plus there is a bolt on the outside diameter of the jack mount even if it cleared the center hole the nut would not. Poor design for jk wheels. Sending this back.

        3 1987 Wrangler - DanR

        Worked good until

I loved the jack mount and it worked great until the bolt corroded and stripped to tighten down. I'd reccomend lubricate it periodically to keep this from happening.

        1 1998 Wrangler - EdwinM

        Does not fit jack

The pins are to far apart and will not fit into the jack holes. If you force the pins in the holes then the front plate dose not line up. Also the jack handle did not fit in the slot for it. It was to close to the jack. I will be returning this product for a refund. I’m very disappointed, this was going to work real good on my rack system.

        4 2006 Wrangler - Allen

        Jack mount

Good quality but if you have you have deep dish rims or as in my case 15x8 with 33x12.5’s mounted there’s just not enough adjustment to mount the jack.

        3 1997 Wrangler - Howie

        RedRock Jack Spare Tire Mount

Part fit on the rear spare tire mount with no problems. However with a 35" spare tire on an appropriate wheel the center bolt used to secure the tire to the mount is not long enough. I had to purchase a longer bolt with the same thread to attach the tire/wheel to the mount on the rear of the jeep. I can not now use the original bolt that has a hole in it for a lock.

        4 1997 Wrangler - Iggy

        Good solution

Put this mount on my 97 wrangler. It was simple mount is a good solution to carry a jack, instead of the cross hood solution. One issue is that I have an Hi-jack extreme and it doesn't fit exactly right because the diameter of the handle is a little bigger than other jacks. Was not a big deal, I turned the jack around and used a peace of velcro to secure the handle to jack. Bonus, I can now carry a shovel on the same mount

Works, but didn’t fit with my backspacing

I wish there was more information on the backspacing that was compatible. I had to modify the mount in order to get the jack to fit.
