Hey, guys. Sara with extremeterrain.com. And today, we have a review and install of the Barricade HD Drop Side Step Bars, fitting your '05 and newer Toyota Tacoma Double Cab. This drop step design features tubular steel construction and a textured black powder coat finish. These steps will provide extra side protection to your Tacoma and these raised tread cutouts are gonna give you easy access into your truck in all weather.Possibly, the only downside to these steps or any drop step is that it will reduce your ground clearance, so if you do take your Tacoma off-road it is certainly something to keep in mind. However, it will make it easier to get in your truck, particularly if your Tacoma is lifted. Coming in at around $550, these steps are middle to the higher end price-wise but for your money, you are getting a step that is both durable and functional. I'm giving this install a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does feature a bolt-up installation and can be done in approximately two hours with the help of a friend. All right, with that said, let's jump right into our install. For this install, we used an impact gun, a 13 and 17-millimeter socket, a 16-millimeter wrench, and a flat head screwdriver. All right, so we have our truck up on a lift to better show you guys underneath and we're gonna mount our brackets. Grabbing the bracket for the furthest point forward, it's gonna mount right up here. Now if you don't see threaded holes right at this mounting point, you will have to remove these plastic caps in order to do that. The brackets are marked with either D or P for driver or passenger which makes install easier. With these plastic screws removed, you can now see the threaded hole. Grab the smaller bolt, make sure you're using a lock washer and a washer and thread it over your bracket. Grab a 13-millimeter socket and tighten these down. Moving onto the center mounting point, remove these plastic screws. Grab your second bracket. Grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten these down. Finally, remove the two plastic screws at the back of the truck. Grab your third bracket and hardware and bolt it into place. Grab your 13-millimeter socket and tighten it down. At this point, we can get our side step onto our Tacoma. You just want to rest this tube here onto our brackets and you may want a friend to hold it in place while you get the bolts in. Let's get this on our truck. Line up the bolt holes on your bracket and your step. Put your hardware through and make sure there's a washer on each side before threading your nut on. Grab a 16-millimeter wrench and a 17-millimeter socket and tighten these down. Line up your center bracket and get your hardware through. Line up your bracket at the very front of your Tacoma. Make sure that your steps are lined up against your body. Grab a 17-millimeter socket and 16-millimeter wrench and tighten these down. All right, once all of these brackets are tightened up, repeat that process on the other side. Now if you get done and you don't like where exactly the step sits, you can definitely loosen up these brackets a little bit, there's quite a bit of adjustability to get that perfect fit. But that is gonna do it for the review and install of our side steps. Remember for all things Tacoma, keep it at extremeterrain.com.
