Hey, guys. It's Sara with extremeterrain.com and today, we have a review and install of the Pypes Touring High Ground Clearance Cat-Back Exhaust, fitting your '18 and newer 3.6 liter Jeep Wrangler JL 4-Door.This street muffler from Pypes provides deep, aggressive exhaust tones with enhanced performance. This exhaust is constructed from two-and-a-half inch 304 stainless steel piping and features a nice satin finish and turned down slash cut tip. I'm giving this exhaust a three out of five on the loudness meter. It definitely wakes up the sound of your JL without being overpowering and is not Pypes' loudest option. This exhaust is perfect for those of you who really wanna hear your JL and are looking to ditch that large factory muffler in favor of something with much more ground clearance for off-roading.Coming in at around $400 this exhaust is mid to higher-end pricewise. And, for your money, you're getting the improve sound of this Pypes exhaust with more clearance for all of your off-road adventures. I'm going to give this exhaust a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It features a directive built up installation with no cutting required and can be completed within two hours. With that said, let's jump right into our install. For this install, we used an impact gun, a long extension, a deep 15-millimeter socket, a 13-millimeter socket, a 13-millimeter ratcheting wrench, and an exhaust hanger removal tool. All right. So, the first step at our install is to remove the hangers on either side of the factory muffler. Grab your 13-millimeter wrench and let's get started. So, it's a little bit easier if you remove the hangers from the body of the Jeep itself. So, we're gonna start with this 13-millimeter bolt, just grab our wrench and get it out. Now, we're gonna grab our 13-millimeter socket and the long extensions we can get to the bolt on the top of our hanger. Repeat that process on the other side. Now, we're gonna loosen up this clamp holding on our muffler section, grab our 15-millimeter socket, and let's get this loose. Push up on the muffler to release it from the hangers and lift out of the Jeep. At this point, we're going to remove the clamp right here that holds on our mid-pipe to over axle pipe. Using the exhaust hanger removal tool, remove the last hanger holding on your mid-pipe. Grab your exhaust and go backwards to clear the front of the pipe and then pull it out over your axle. All right. So, now that we have the factory exhaust uninstalled from our Jeep, we can put it side by side with our Pypes exhaust and really check out some of the similarities and differences. Now, the biggest difference as you can see is that the Pypes exhaust eliminates the large factory muffler that sits at the back of your Jeep for better sound and more ground clearance when you're off-roading.The Pypes exhaust is constructed from 304 stainless steel for durability over time and is going to be much louder than stock. The Pypes exhaust does still have a small muffler. So while it will be much louder than stock, it's still mild enough to enjoy your Jeep. All right. With that said, let's jump right into our install. At this point we can install the mid-pipe section, grab the round clamp and get that installed over the front part of your factory exhaust. Now, line up this mid-pipe and since there's no hanger on this section, we have a pull jack here to support it. So, now that we have the pipe in, sort of, the position that we want it, like, down an angled out, we're gonna tighten this clamp up a little bit just to hold it in place and we can adjust it later. Grab your 13-millimeter socket and get this snug. Grab a clamp and slide it over the mid pipe. We're now gonna install our muffler section which also doesn't have a hanger. So, we bring your pull jack back to support it for now.Grab the muffler with the notch facing the back passenger. I wanna grab the last clamp and get it over the end of our muffler section. Now, I can grab the over axle pipe and we're gonna be coming from the front of the axle. We need to clear the sway bar as well. Now, we're gonna remove the hanger on the driver side of our factory muffler so that we can reuse it on our new exhaust. We can install this hanger back onto the Jeep. Hook it in this back section here. Once it's lined up, grab the bolts, and get it threaded back in. Grab the second bolt, and get it threaded back in. Grab your 13-millimeter ratcheting wrench, and tighten down the bottom bolt. Grab your 13-millimeter socket and long extension, and get this tightened down. Push it up on the rear part of the exhaust. Get it installed back into the hanger. Install your exhaust into the hanger towards the middle of the Jeep. Now, you can tighten up the clamp at the back of the muffler. Grab a 15-millimeter socket, and tighten this down. Tighten up the clamp at the front of your muffler. Tighten up the clamp at the very front of your exhaust using a 13-millimeter socket. All right. That's gonna do it for the review and install this Pypes exhaust. Remember, for all things Jeep, keep it at extremeterrain.com.
