    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from, and this is my review and installation of the Pet Backseat Auto Zip Line with leash, fitting all 1987 and up Wranglers. Today, we're gonna talk about the installation of this zip line kit, as well as the construction and a few of the features. This is, of course, for those of you who like to bring your pets in your Jeep with you, but want to keep them in the backseat and keep them safe. This can also be used outside of the Jeep at a campsite, but it's really designed to keep your pet in the back seat. All you need to add to this is a harness and you have everything you need. This is a universal fit item, so it will work in any Wrangler of any year. This zip line kit comes with two different pieces. Of course, the zip line itself and then the leash to attach your dog's harness to. Again, this does not include a collar or a harness, so you'll have to provide that part. The zip line itself is a really well-built piece. It is a canvas material, it has rubber-coated hooks, there is a spring loaded metal catch so that you can adjust it. That piece is going to go between both of the rear seat belts and be pulled tight. From there, you will clip on the leash portion which has two high-quality metal carabiners on it, and clip the other end of the leash, of course, to that harness. This is a part that's going to be very easy to install, and it's going to serve a couple of purposes. One, it'll keep your dog safe in the event of hard breaking or an accident, but two, it will keep your dog in the back seat of your Jeep, so they're not distracting you while you're trying to drive. Installation for this is, of course, a very simple one out of three wrenches, it's hardly an install at all. All you're going to do is take the hooks of the zip line section through your rear seat belts, and pull the adjuster tight. From there, clip one end of the leash to the dog's harness and the other end to the zip line and you're finished. This will come in and out of the Jeep very, very easily, so you can put people in the back seat and then switch to the setup for your dog in no time at all. When I first saw this item, I thought maybe it was a little bit expensive for what you get. But then, after taking it out of the box and actually looking at the quality of the components, I think it's absolutely worth it. I love the fact that these are rubber-coated hooks, so they're not gonna make any noise or do any damage to the inside of your Jeep. This spring loaded clip with the teeth is going to hold the zip line nice and tight wherever you adjust it to, and these carabiners are heavy duty high-quality carabiners, not the type where the spring is going to break in no time after a couple of uses. This setup is gonna hold up and it's going to work as advertised for a good long time. So, if you like to bring your dog with you in your Jeep either on road or off-road, but you wanna make sure that they stay in the back seat so they're not distracting you and also stay safe, a zip line setup like this is a great option. This will give your dog a little bit more mobility than clipping them directly into the seat belt, but still keep them safe. So, that's my review of the Pet Backseat Auto Zip Line with leash fitting all 1987 and up Wranglers that you can find right here at

Distraction Free. Pair this Pet Backseat Auto Zip Line with your favorite pet harness to prevent unwanted jumping, escaping and distractions while driving.  A unique adjustable design allows you to make use of this zip line in your Jeep's rear seat or cargo area, boat or campsite.

Easy Restraint. This multi use zip line attaches easily to your Wrangler's seat belts or grab bar handles to provide a tethered connection for your dog.  Durable and adjustable, this kit comes with a carabiner equipped leash, giving you full control when its time to unload and exit your Jeep.

Application. This Zip line w/Leash is designed for universal fitment on all 1987-2018 Jeep Wrangler YJ, TJ, JK and JL models. Note: This zip line is not intended for use off road, nor does it prevent the pet risks associated with traveling when a top is down or off. Pet Harness not included.

Will this still work if I secure this to the floor in back of the rear seats on a JK Unlimited? I have two car seats in the back and would like to be able to secure this in the rear cargo area. Thanks, Mike

    • The Kurgo Pet Backseat Auto Zip Line w/ Leash can be attached any number of locations. As long as you secure this to good mounting points, there will be no issues with using this in the cargo area.

I have two dogs. Can I order an extra leash to go on the zip line without ordering a whole extra unit?

    • Hello, unfortunately for the Pet Backseat Auto Zip Line w/ Leash (87-17 Wranger YJ, TJ, JK) you will be able to only get it as a complete kit.

IT would appear from the pictures that the length of the leash would still allow a dog to jump out the side window or door opening if the doors are off. Is that not the case? It would seem to me that it would work better if the leash was restrained in the middle of the tether.

    • The Pet Backseat Auto Zip Line w/ Leash (87-17 Wranger YJ, TJ, JK) is made to help secure your pet and work in similar respects of a seat belt. This zip line is not intended for use off road, nor does it prevent the pet risks associated with traveling when a top is down or off.

      Good product

I bought the zip line with leash and have used it a few times. I have an 80lb mastiff pit mix, so he's a big guy. This allows him to have some freedom and yet keep him from climbing into the front seat. I have it around my roll bars as I have the backseat removed.

      Totally Awesome!

I purchased this item specifically for my 2007 JK so my new pup, Kojak can go with me everywhere. It works perfectly, I have it connected across the back seat to the roll bars, prevents him from jumping up front, leaving him total freedom of the back. Thank you for an awesome product!

      Mostly good

Worked really well for me when attaching to the roll bars, not so much when trying to use the seat belts. Also works easily on grab handles in my other car.

It works but might need some support

I have a 60 lb pit that has a lot of power so this is only for big dogs; you'll want to either get more secure grab handles (steel or just really strong) and run the line with more tension because my pooch ripped a standard Jeep logo black handle right off the frame to get out the window another inch. She is just fine and this is a great idea and system. I wish you could get the line tighter but it gets pretty tight with manual pull. Again not let down by this product; I just needed to modify some things.

      Great Concept

I bought this for my 55lb Border Collie/Austrailian Cattle Dog fur baby. I have leather seats though and wanted to set her up in the back of my jku, not on the backseat. I hooked the ends to the seat belts but put them behind the backseat instead of in front. I would say the concept of this product is a great one and the cost of it is feasible for those on a budget with quality material. That said it was a challenge for me to figure out how to get her harnessed in at first so you will need some patience. I'm also not 100 sure I had her secured tightly enough because when the trail got a bit bumpy you managed to jump over to the backseat. I fully convinced that once I get her tied in correctly this is going to be well worth the $ and will keep my furbaby safe.

      Pretty Good

This is really just a heavy duty strap with a dog leash connected to it. It is pretty universal and can be strapped to any solid service in the Jeep. It works well and I feel that my dog will not fall out of the Jeep.

      high quality product

Great product. I have a 2 door Wrangler, so I was always worried about transporting my dog with no easy access to the backseat. With the zipline I removed my backseat and don't have to worry because I know my dog is able to move around safely, and will also be safe in case we roll. However, I would only use this product with a harness and not hooked onto the collar simply for dog safety reasons.

      My dog loves this !!!

When I first got my jeep my dog was a little shy with the doors off and the sides off the back. But now he loves everytime he rides with me. Bounces side to side with no fear of him jumping out. Very easy to install. And works perfectly.

      Not there yet.

Well I attempted to install the zip-line, I just couldn't figure it out. The seat belt locked until I got to the bottom of it. There was something else after that, (that don't help you) But I just put it back in the box, leave it for another day or get someone who is better inclined to do this for me. This is no way anything to do with you. I take full responsibility for not being able to get it.

      Great Quality!

The back seat has been removed from out 2017 JK and I installed this across the roll bars just behind the speakers and it is the perfect thing to keep our lab-mix from hopping out the back when the widow is up! Easy to install, very secure, and the parts are very high quality. You wont be disappointed.

Holy cow it does what it's supposed to do and fits like they said it would. Keeps my 100 lb German Shepherd in the back seat and secured. I put the zip line over cross bars just forward of the roll bar then clipped the tether to that. The multiple loops in the tether allow adjustment so he can lie down on the back seat if he wants but he can still look out the sides if he wants to. Couldn't build it for what it costs! And I can still put the soft top up and down.

      Versatile,works great

I removed the backseat on my JK and attached the tether to the floor hooks. It is strong enough to restrain my bulldog/Staffordshire mix and lets her run from side to side but unable to get to front seats. I got a cargo mat and cut two small sits to let the straps through so it has a great clean look. Highly recommended.

      Harley loves the zipline

I do not have hand grips so I wrapped it around the roll bar. Very easy to install. Harley my 130 lb German Shepard loves it! He no longer gets tangled in the seatbelt style one I had. He can move around and still be safe in the back seat. I highly recommend this. Also love the leash that is part of the system. I use it all the time. Well worth the money.
