    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan from, and this is my review and installation of the Magnaflow Offroad Pro-Series Cat-Back Exhaust, fitting all 2007 to 2017 JKs.Now, there are two different versions of this exhaust: one for those of you with the 3.6, and one for those of you with the 3.8-liter. And there is, of course, a version for those of you with the two-door and the four-door unlimited JK. So, make sure you get the right exhaust for your Jeep. Today we're going to talk about the way this exhaust sounds and how to get it installed. This exhaust system is going to be for those of you who want a lot more volume and a lower note out of your Jeep. Now, nothing is going to make your V6 sound like your V8, but a nice short exhaust system like this that gets rid of the factory resonator and muffler, replacing it with one straight flow-through muffler will definitely give you a lot more sound. And the fact that you have fewer components and a lot less piping means there's a lot less to crush when you're in an off-road scenario. Now, this is mostly for you guys who are doing a lot of off-roading and want the benefits of a high clearance exhaust that's tucked up out of the way, however, if you just want the sound and the volume, this system can be run in an on road Jeep as well. This cat-back system is made of stainless steel, so it's going to hold up pretty well to rust and corrosion, and it's going to last a good long time. As you can see, this does replace everything from the cat back on the Jeep. It's going to replace your factory resonator and your factory muffler, and it is a lot shorter than that factory exhaust system. In fact, the tip to this system dumps in front of the rear axle instead of behind it all the way at the rear of the Jeep. So, everything from the fact that you're getting rid of the factory resonator and muffler for one muffler, the fact that it's a much shorter pipe, all of these lead to a much louder and more aggressive sound. This system will install on your Jeep very easily. That installation process begins by removing your factory exhaust system, which is done by removing a couple of clamps and popping a couple of factory rubber exhaust hangers loose. Once you have that factory exhaust removed, you can go ahead and install the new one, leaving all of your clamps loose until you have everything lined up and in those factory hangers, then going back and tightening up all of the included clamps. Now, your factory exhaust can get very rusty, so I would recommend spraying those clamps well ahead of time, and also spraying your factory rubber hangers to make them easier to remove. That's the only part that can add time to your installation, is rust or having some hangers that just won't budge. Regardless, the whole installation shouldn't take you more than an hour, and you won't need any specialty tools, just some traditional hand tools. This system is priced right around the middle of the road for a cat-back system. Magnaflow's been around for a long time and they have a good name in exhausts. They make a high-quality component that is going to definitely give you some more exhaust sound and a lower exhaust note. So, if you're looking for a high-quality system and you have the budget, I think this is a great option. So, whether you're looking to replace your factory exhaust system that was smashed on the rocks, one that just rusted out, or you're just replacing your system to get some more sound and a lower exhaust note, I would definitely recommend taking a look at this system. So, that's my review of the Magnaflow Offroad Pro-Series Cat-Back Exhaust, fitting all 2007 to 2017 JKs, that you can find right here at

Other systems state the grade of stainless steel, Magnaflow does not. Do you know what grade stainless?

        • Magnaflow has confirmed that the grades of stainless steel used for all of their products are the same, including the types used for the Steel Cat-Back Exhaust System. The piping and body of their systems use a 400-grade stainless steel. The hardware and tips use a 304-grade stainless steel.

            Cat-back purrs like a cougar

I couldn’t be happier with the product. The installation was easy and quick. The difference in volume and “throatyness” between the stock exhaust and the cat back is night And day. The swap can be done by any average person that knows how to handle basic tools and can complete this in you driveway or garage in an afternoon (literally took me 2hrs only due to stock exhaust removal)

            Amazing Cat back!

I did a bit of research before choosing this particular Cat back exhaust system. Some of the other systems sound like a Japanese 1000 cc motorcycle. This one had everything I wanted and delivered. I was looking for something tucked up and out of the way for off-roading, something that gave a bit of extra horsepower and something that also sounded really good. Well again, this product totally delivered ALL of that. It sounds amazing! I’m so happy with everything about it! There are other products out there that are both more expensive as well as cheaper. But this one filed the bill for me! You won’t be disappointed! I chose to spend a bit to have it installed professionally for around $200...

After driving it for a while

This is my really in depth review, so it’s gonna be a little long. So I installed this on my 2016 JK about 4 months ago now. I wanted to wait to write a review so I could see how it held up over time/ how it works as a daily driver exhaust system. I just took it off the other day to do a quick maintenance check of it. Other than a slight color change of the metal, which is to be expected, it is in perfect shape. No rust or chipping. So this is basically the pros and cons I’ve had since I’ve installed it. Pros: 1. Really easy to install (only hard part is getting stock exhaust off) 2. Way more added clearance for the back of the Jeep. 3. Exhaust note is amazing. I watched a few videos of it before I bought it to try to gauge the sound, and they just don’t do it justice. 4. Fairly priced for the quality and support you get from Magnaflow Cons: 1. THE DRONE. Now I just said that I love the exhaust note, which I do, but oh my gosh the drone on the freeway is sometimes unbearable. For just a quick grocery run or something, it’s not bad. But about a few months ago me and some friends went on a road trip for senior ditch day and after about the 3 hour mark of driving, all of our ears were ringing. Just something to think about if you’ll be driving a lot with your Jeep. 2. Just recently I noticed that it had started to rattle against the body of the car when I was at idle. It was pretty loud inside so I had to put some heat shielding around the muffler itself to prevent the rattling. 3. The output of the exhaust is kinda close to some brake lines, so I had to put some heat shielding around that too. Overall I am very pleased with the product. I get compliments all the time from other Jeep owners and they ask what brand exhaust it is. I would say if you’re looking for the best possible exhaust note without just being straight piped, this one is the best option. Just be prepared for a drone on the inside. Me personally I can deal with it because I love the sound that much, but it may differ on the person.

            Quick and Easy install

It took me longer to the stock exhaust off. I like the sound. Not loud enough to cover radio or conversation inside.

4 2013 Wrangler - AlexanderK Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

            Good Exhaust With Some Exceptions

Overall, I am pleased with this purchase. I marked install at 1 hour or less, which does not include time to remove the prior exhaust (1 can of liquid wrench and over 4 hours of hammering, sawing and brute force). The fit is pretty good, but did notice a slight rattle on the chassis. A little more work and it was gone. The exhaust does dump out in front of the emergency brake cable on the driver side, which after a hundred miles, was melted, but functional. The exhaust note is significantly improved over the stock system, and does have a little more rasp to it. Volume was loud, but can't give a fair comparison since my exhaust had snapped ahead of the fist resonator 4 months prior. I can say after a few months of driving with it, the tone has mellowed and the slight drone has reduced. I would recommend this kit for a simple exhaust replacement. If you are handy with a grind wheel and welder, I'm sure you could build the same kit for much less.

3 things: 1. First, the stock exhaust is a pain to get off. Took up 90 of the job time. 2. The new exhaust takes less than 10 minutes to install. Cake!!! 3. The exhaust tone is way deeper and louder than I thought. The videos do not do it justice.

            It's ok

Easy install once you get the old exhaust off. Took about 2.5 hours to remove the stock exhaust, 15 minutes to install. The hanger on my jeep, and on the exhaust, allowed the exhaust to eventually slide over and rub/vibrate against the frame causing a rattling noise; I used an extra isolator on the most rear hanger to force it away from the frame and stop it from sliding. Sounds great on start, aggressive when accelerating, but has an obnoxious drone at high speeds. I needed an exhaust that dumped before my exhaust to accomodate my lift; this was the first I found but will likely replace it when I find a decent replacement.

            Great product for price

Once you get your old exhaust off this installs in all about 5 minutes. I had to eventually use and angel grinder to cut off the old clamp but once that was done easiest install ever.

            Read before buying!

Like others have said, there are ups and downs to this exhaust and I will go over why I love it. I DO recommend getting it installed professionally unless you are able to heat and bend piping so that it fits the way it should. Pros - Nice and loud when you push on the throttle - Does not sound ricey (but still a v6) - Not much drone (still drone, but compared to my axleback its much better) - Before rear axle Cons - $$$ for this much tubing, and to have it installed was pricey but I am happy. I owned a Gibson axleback before and was not too pleased with the sound, had the resonator deleted which made the axleback way too loud and droney. Decided to go with something aggressive and I am really happy I went with this. This could have been half the price and manufactured better but I am still giving it a great rating because I do love the sound.

Simple installation, quality was top notch and great sound not as loud as a motorcycle or a mustang's aftermarket exhaust but that's fine since the jeep isnt a race car.

Great muffler for the trail. Hides up under my Jeep between the frame and drive line. Increase in acceleration and gas mileage ( only 1 mpg ). Removal of original exhaust took longer than the install. Only downside is that it’s louder than I expected. Exhaust dumps out before rear axle. All in all I would recommend.

            Throaty Enhancement, Entertaining to Install

Reader reviews are spot on re installation: removal of the old pipe and muffler are challenging and time consuming (3 hours). Spend $20 to get some exhaust hanger removal pliers. It may be the only time you ever use them but you'll be glad you spent the $20. Installation of the new pipe and muffler was a snap. 30 minutes. Sound: Love it. Particularly at and above 3000 rpm. why 4 instead of 5 stars on the Exhaust note? I'd prefer a slightly deeper register and the same throaty sound at lower rpm. That said, I'd purchase it again in a heart beat.

Good exhaust but melted my parking brake

The exhaust is decent, and I bought it because I didn't want to have to cut anything. If you leave the length how it comes out of the box though it touches the parking brake cable and will melt it. I had to cut an inch and a half off with a grinder just to make it fit right.

            Does not fit right

The system did not fit right, it rubbed on the frame and was way to close to the emergency brake line. I ended up taking it to my local exhaust shop to have the issues fixed and have an over axle pipe added because it was way to loud in the cab. If you do buy make sure you get the one with the over axle pipe.

            Dope Exhaust

So, let me first tell you about why I gave it an overall rating of 4 stars. First of all, on a good note, the Exhaust Fit on my Jeep perfectly and the Exhaust Note is pretty badass. But, it's not really that loud. I mean sure, if you speed up really fast, yeah, it's freaking loud, but just an overall cruise, it's not that loud. For the installation; it took me 6 hours to take off the Stock Exhaust and then took me about an hour or so to install this aftermarket Exhaust. But, all in all, it's a pretty badass Exhaust and it's definitely a Bang for your Buck.
