Hey, guys. So, today, we're checking out the Backside License Plate Mount fitting all 2010 to 2018 at JK Wranglers. So, if you've decided to delete your spare tire, as well as the spare tire carrier, and are looking for a kit to clean up the look of your tailgate, while also relocating your license plate, this is going to be a great choice to take a look into. Now, this is a very inclusive kit. This is going to come with the backplate that is separate from the license plate mount. So, what I do like about the separation between the two is that you're able to keep your vent in your tailgate for that functionality when getting air inside and outside your cab area. Now, this is also going to come up with an LED strip for your third brake light, as well as an LED strip for your license plate light. And that's going to be a big upgrade from the factory halogen lights that were on your spare tire carrier, as well as your license plate mounts, making sure that you're more noticeable on the road to other drivers. It's also going to give you a more modernized and sleek look to the back end of your JK.Now, this is also going to be made of a 304 stainless steel material, so it is going to be a high-quality material that's gonna hold up for a very long time and you're getting a nice textured black powder coat finish on top. It's going to provide a more sleek look and obviously protect that stainless steel underneath. Now, what I do really like about this is how clean the setup looks. You're getting all of the little features out of this that you would want as far as a clean look is concerned with the wiring. Now, what I did for this install, which you'll see in just a second is wired this through the tailgate, through that vent there, which makes it look very clean in comparison to your factory spare tire carrier that had the wires going through the tailgate here. Now, this kit even includes the grommets to clean up the look and create a very finished look which I think looks great on the back of our JK.As far as pricing is concerned, this is going to come in at roughly $100. And I think that's a great price for what you're getting in the kit. Now, not only are you getting a very clean kit, you're getting a high-quality construction with that high-quality 304 stainless steel. You're getting those LED strips up top and down at the bottom here at the license plate light, and overall, you are getting a clean kit as far as the wiring is concerned. Now, in comparison to some other choices, again, this is going to keep that functionality with that back vent on the tailgate. Some other options will usually just be a block off plate if you're looking to completely cover up that vent. And some options won't even come up with a license plate relocation bracket, it's just gonna be that block off plate there. Not to mention some other choices may not come with the third brake light as well as the license plate light, so overall, again, I think this is a very inclusive kit and well worth that $100 if you're looking to delete your spare, as well as relocate your license plate. Now, I would like to mention, even though this is a very inclusive kit, as far as this part is concerned, this is not going to come up with a filler plate or a block off plate for the factory license plate bracket. So, if you do want to clean up the look of that bracket and remove that from your Wrangler, I would recommend taking a look into some filler plate options that are very affordable and they do have them available on the site.As far as install is concerned, I'm going to give this a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. There is a little bit of small wiring involved. However, it is very basic, very easy, and easy to do with some very basic hand tools. So, speaking of that install, let's jump into that now. The tools that I used for my install were an impact wrench, a 13 and 11-millimeter ratcheting wrench, a 3-inch extension, a ratchet, a 13-millimeter and 10-millimeter deep socket, 4-millimeter Allen socket, T30 Torx socket, pair of pliers, and a trim removal tool. So, our first step to this install is to take off our spare tire. I'm going to be using the lug nut key for our JK. However, if you do have the factory lug nuts you're going to be using a 19-millimeter deep socket as well. So, our next step is going to be inside our tailgate. We wanna make sure our third brake light is disconnected. So, over at this vent here, I'm going to use a trim panel removal tool, pull forward, pop this out of the clips, then we can grab our third brake light wiring harness and disconnect that. Now, for now, we can close this back up. And what we can do is actually remove this grommet from the tailgate. And now, we can remove our actual spare tire carrier. I'm gonna use a 13-millimeter socket, and we're going to remove the eight bolts that are holding our carrier on. Now, for the last bolt, you wanna make sure that you have a grip on your carrier because it's going to come right off.So, what we can do next is install our plate. Now, this is not going to be the mount, this is just going to be the border or the surround for the actual mount. So, I'm gonna leave these four holes on the side open. I just want to secure the top and the bottom because that's where our license plate mount is going to mount up. Then we're gonna snug them up. I'll tighten everything down at the end. I just want to make sure that the plate is up against the tailgate using that 13-millimeter socket to snug them up. So, we need to swap over our license plate onto our new brackets. I'm going to take a 10-millimeter socket and remove our license plate. So, what we can do now is mount up our license plate onto our license plate bracket. We have bolts already installed on the bracket, so we're going to take those off. So, you will need an 11-millimeter ratcheting wrench or an 11-millimeter socket for this. I'm going to use a wrench and you're also gonna need a 4-millimeter Allen key or Allen socket. I'm gonna use a socket for this, and we're going to mount this up and then we can head back over to our Jeep, mount this on our Jeep, tighten those bolts down, and then we can get to our wiring.Take your license plate, pop that on there. Then take our 11-millimeter wrench and our 4-millimeter Allen key and tighten that up. So, what we can do next is mount up our license plate bracket. Now, we're gonna run our wires through our vent to make sure that there's a clean look. We do have a grommet here that we're going to put there in just a minute. So, first, what we're gonna do, we can take our longer wire, and run that through. Now, you can keep your vent here if you'd like, you can remove it if you like. I'm just going to keep it here and just run a wire through. And we'll be able to access this inside the tailgate through the vent inside the tailgate where we disconnected our third brake light. We can do the same thing for our smaller wire for our third brake light. Then once those are completely fed through, what we can do is then mount up our bracket using our factory bolts. I'm gonna use that 13-millimeter socket that we did before to remove them. And just make sure to tighten up the rest of the bolts that we left loose. And then for the top ones, you may need to use a 13-millimeter wrench just because you're not going to have a lot of room with this brake light here. Right. Now, we can wire up our lights. So, to cover up this hole, what we're going to do is just pop this provided grommet in, and we're all set to go.So, that's going to wrap it up for my review and install. Makes you like and subscribe.
