    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

I'm Ryan with and this is my review of the K&N Cold-Air Intake, available for all 2007-2016 JKs. When taking a look at these cold-air intakes, you have a couple of different ones to choose from. One is the 57-series which is a carb-exempt, 50-state legal intake, the 63 which is not legal in California but should give you a few more horsepower, and the 77 which is the aluminum version of the intake. A cold-air intake on a Jeep is for somebody who wants a little bit more sound out of their engine, who wants a little bit better throttle response, and possibly some increased miles per gallon. A cold-air intake is not going to provide a ton of horsepower gains on a Jeep just because the factory intake isn't that much of a bottleneck. However, a lot of people do feel a little bit of a power increase after installing something like this. It is important to note that when you install a cold-air intake on your Jeep, you do get rid of the factory air box, which can be a little bit detrimental if you're somebody who takes your Jeep off-road in wet conditions a lot. But, if you do decide to go with a cold-air intake on your Jeep, the K&N ones are a good way to go because they're moderately priced, and they all include K&N's famous reusable and washable filter. Depending on which series you choose, you're either gonna get a polyethylene or an aluminum air intake tube that's molded specifically to fit in your Jeep and designed to work with your factory vent and air sensor. You'll get a heat shield and all the brackets and hardware necessary to get everything installed, including a washable and reusable K&N air filter. Now, because this setup is designed specifically to bolt into your Jeep, it will be bolt-in. You won't have to cut or drill anything which makes the installation really easy. However, because of that, it's very important to make sure you get the one that's designed for your specific year because Jeep did change engines. Because this is designed to be completely bolt-in, the install becomes very easy. The first step in the process is to remove your factory intake tube and air box, then install the heat shield and all the brackets that come with this kit. From there, you'll install your air filter and, finally, your air tube. The whole installation should take about an hour and you won't need any specialty tools, just some hand tools. Now, there are a bunch of companies out there making cold-air intake setups very similar to this, and some of them are less expensive than this one. This does come with the washable and reusable filter which may be worth a couple more dollars to you. It really just comes down to your budget. If you want to get one of these setups that's similar, that costs a few dollars less, I think that it'll have the same effect on your Jeep as this one will. So if you're looking for some extra throttle response, a little more sound from under the hood of your Jeep or a few extra MPGs, a cold-air intake might be the way to go, especially if you're somebody who takes your Jeep off-road only where it's dry or stays out of the puddles. If you're looking for a cold-air intake and you want one that has a reusable filter, the K&N is a really nice option. So that's my review of the K&N Cold-Air Intake, available for all 2007-2016 JKs that you can find right here, at

Intake. Made from smooth custom molded high-density polyethylene, the K&N Series 57 Cold Air Intake flows considerably more air than the stock intake tube. It has an integrated diversion chamber to smooth out the airflow and eliminate turbulence.

Filter Specs. The K&N Series 57 FIPK Performance Air Intake is designed to minimize restrictions and increase airflow to the engine. The durable cotton gauze filter flows significantly more clean air than a stock paper filter, which allows your engine to create more power. And you can reuse it for up to a million miles!

Additional Features. If you want to give the 3.8L in your Wrangler JK, a bit more gumption, then you need to check out the K&N Series 57 FIPK Performance Air Intake. The guys at K&N practically started the performance intake segment, and they've got the experience to create a Wrangler performance intake that'll give you more power when you need it most.

Application. This K&N Series 57 FIPK Performance Cold Air Intake is designed to fit on the 2007 - 2011 Wrangler JK with the 3.8L V6 engine.

      Good power

Immediate increase in acceleration and power from a stop. It also gave the stock exhaust a beefier rumble when accelerating. The dyno sheet included states a increase of 14/hp and 14/tq.

      Well worth it

This is one of the best Mods you will ever get for your Jeep. It not only sounds great but it seems to have added power too. I have not checked the gas mileage yet but it really does not even matter to me. Once you step on it to pass or something you will be sold. I highly recommend this. Oh, I have a 08 JK Sahara 4 door

      Just what the JK needed

It was easy to install, works perfectly. I installed it along with a throttle body spacer and retuned the jeep with a Superchips flash paq. Now my jeep is even more awesome than before.

It was an awesome buy/investment . I bought it as a Dad and Son Saturday morning project. We installed it with a Rugged Ridge Thorttle body spacer and it performs to all expectations.

Huge upgrade over the stock intake. Adds a nice sound in addition to a noticeable increase in throttle response and an improvement in mpg. Took about an hour and a half from start to finish but could be done in under an hour if you don't take your time like I did. Would definitely recommend

      Stock seems to perform better

Not happy with the performance of this filter. Installed around 30 days ago on 2008 Wrangler, 6 speed. Loved the sound it produced and the throttle seemed a little more responsive. A few weeks ago I started experiencing some issues with start up and the engine seemed to run a little rough. Checked the hose, the temp sensor seating, and made sure the o-ring were all tight - no leaks and everything seemed good to go. I switched back to stock just for kicks and the Jeep idles better and the engine seems to run smoother overall. I'll miss the sound the KandN produces, but I'm keeping the filter off. I see no benefit in this filter.

      Happy with my purchase!

I was a bit skeptical about paying the amount of money for a cold air intake after hearing "it's not worth it" but after installing the K&N on my 2009 wrangler 2 door I'm glad I did! The instal was moderate if you have at least a little mechanical knowledge. The instructions layed out the I tamarin process pretty well, which made the instal very simple. After the instal was the test drive. Even with a heavy foot my average mpg increased and I felt a slight gain in power and of course nothing beats the sound of the intake growling when you put the pedal down!

      Jeep Intake

Easy installation! Gained 2 MPG with increased performance. The Jeep shifts through the gears more smoothly with a definitely more aggressive purpose. Thank you K&N!

      Well worth the money!

The most noticeable difference was the increased throttle response and it makes it sound better also! Installation was a breeze as well. I would highly recommend this upgrade to anyone!
