Hey, guys. So today, we're checking out the 9-Inch LED Headlights with the White Daytime Running Light and the Amber Turn Signals, fitting all 2018 and newer JL Wranglers. So, if you're looking for an upgrade in lighting performance as well as an upgrade in styling to the front end of your Jeep, then this option is going to be a great choice to take a look at. This set of headlights will integrate LED projector technology to help you with extra visibility while you're driving at night or even on dark trails. This will also have that LED halo ring which will of course act as your daytime running light. But what I really like about this option in comparison to some other choices on the site is that this will be wired into your turn signal so when you do activate your turn signal, this will blink with an amber color as well. Now, not only are they going to be very functional, help you out with your lighting performance, but they're gonna be durable as well stylish. So, on the headlight itself, you are gonna get some riveted accenting on the outside as well as a black housing which is gonna give a sleek and aggressive look to the front end of the JL, and they're going to have a durable construction, which I'll get into a little bit later. But that's perfect for that off-roader or somebody who just wants something that is going to be a little bit more substantial in comparison to the factory headlight. So, if you are out on the trail you do take a branch or any rocks to the front end, these headlights are going to be able to take that extra abuse. With all that being said, these are gonna be roughly $400 and I personally think that they bring a lot to the table for that price point. In comparison to some other options, you may see some less expensive choices with an HID or even a halogen bulb or a Xenon bulb. And then more expensive options, you'll usually see at some more bells and whistles to the headlight itself. Now, in my personal opinion, I think if you're looking for those extra functionality features, like the turn signals as well as that daytime running light and even that led performance while also getting something that's stylish in the meantime, then these are going to be a great choice. Not to mention these are also going to be pretty easy to install, this whole system is plug and play. We won't have to do any splicing or extra wiring in order to get these installed. We're gonna need a couple of basic hand tools to get the job done and I'm gonna call it a light two out of three on the difficulty meter. So, speaking of that install, let's jump into it now.The tools that I used for my install were an impact wrench, a 10-millimeter deep socket, a flathead screwdriver, and a trim removal tool. Our first step in this install is to take off our grille. So we're gonna remove the six pop clips that are holding on the grille up at the top. I'm gonna be using a flathead screwdriver, but you can also use a trim removal tool. After all the clips are taken out, what we can do is lift up the top of our grille and unhook it from the body of our Jeep and then just pull back. It's only held in by a couple of clips. And then we can fully remove our grille. Next, we can remove our headlight by removing the three 10-millimeter bolts surrounding our headlight housing. I'm gonna be using a 10-millimeter socket in order to do so. After the headlight is disconnected and out, what we can do next is disconnect the wiring harness. We're gonna press down on that tab and pull back. What we can do now is install our passenger headlight. Now, you are gonna have a couple of connections because these do have the amber and the daytime running light. We will be running the turn signal wiring harness into the fender wiring harness. We'll do that in just a second. But, first, we're going to plug in our headlight and mount it up with our factory hardware. So, I'm just gonna take the turn signal harness and just run it behind and pull some of this excess wire back. So, when running the turn signal wiring harness back you will see that there are two open connectors. If you'd like to add fog lights with this kit, that is what these two connectors will be for. We are not going to be connecting those right now. So, we're gonna leave those open. We're just gonna run this back, place it there for just a second. We can take our main wiring harness and plug that into our factory wiring harness. After you hear a click, we can put this into place and we can secure it down with the factory hardware. We're going to use that 10-millimeter socket to tighten those up. And then we can connect our turn signal wiring harness. To make running the wires a little bit easier, what I did was just disconnected the spade connectors from our main harness. I'm gonna put this to the side but on the passenger side we need to run these behind the battery tray and we're going to connect it to our turn signal wiring harness which is actually located behind our inner fender liner. So, what we can just do is drop these straight down. So, as you can tell, we don't have the inner fender liner on. I did take it off to give you guys a better view. However, all you'd have to do to access this harness right up here is just pull the fender liner back and you can either access it from the top or the bottom of your Wrangler. What I'm gonna do is take a trim removal tool and actually remove the clip from the body so we can handle it a little bit easier. All right, and then once it is off, we can pull this red tab back. Once that red tab is pulled back, we can press down on the tab and disconnect the harness. After your factory harness is disconnected, we can take our new harness provided with our headlights and plug that into either side. You wanna make sure that you hear a click. All right, you can set down that locking tab. Then you can do the same thing on the other side. And then we can take our wires with the spade connectors and plug those into the corresponding color. Now, as you can tell, there is a lot of wiring here. What we can do is just pull it up through the engine bay, clean it up a little bit, and then we can repeat that process on the other side. So, before we install the other side, I do wanna stop down and give you guys a comparison on our factory headlight and our new option and tell you guys what benefits that you're gonna receive out of this new setup. Now, right off the bat, you can tell that these are going to be completely different as far as the overall build, and they're gonna be different as far as lighting performance goes as well. Now, starting off with the housing and the overall construction, your factory headlight is going to have a plastic lens, as well as a plastic housing. And inside is going to be a chrome reflector and a standard halogen bulb. Well, moving over to our new headlight, this is going to have a lot more durable of a setup and be able to take a lot more abuse. It's gonna have an aluminum die cast housing, which will be able to take a lot more abuse than the factory plastic. It's gonna have a black powder coat finish on there to protect that aluminum underneath, and it's even gonna have a polycarbonate lens. So, essentially what that means is that it will be able to take a little bit more of what the factory plastic is able to do. So, if you guys are out on the trail, and if you do take a [inaudible 00:08:40] to your headlight, this is going to stand up to that, but it's also going to offer complete transparency with that. Now, speaking of that transparency and that bulb inside, this is going to have a projector light setup. So, your LEDs are going to be set up a little bit differently than the chrome reflector and you're gonna have a black housing or a black backing and a real accenting for a little bit more of a aggressive style out of the front end of your Wrangler. Now, what I really like about these is the fact that, again, they're durable, but they're also gonna be dustproof as well as waterproof, with an IP67 rating. So, if you are out on the trail, these are going to essentially be trail proof. If you take a dump with the front end of your Wrangler, or you're out on the trail all day and dust is kicking up, this housing is going to stand up to that and not let any of that get inside and damage the LEDs. Now, there is a big step up in lighting performance, like I told you guys before, a halogen bulb really can't match the lighting performance of an LED. So, the halogen bulb from the factory is going to be great for stock applications. However, when it comes to lighting performance, this is not going to be all that. When moving over to our new headlight, this is going to have projector LEDs inside which are going to create a brighter light, a more uniform light pattern, and they're also going to have a cleaner look. So, these are gonna have a 6,000K color temperature which is going to be a bright, white light in comparison to the halogen bulb which is going to be more of an amber or a yellowish hue, giving you a cleaner look out of this new headlight and almost a more modernized look when it comes to an LED.Now, what I really like about this new headlight setup is that this is going to have a halo that stays very functional instead of just being there for styling. Now, for you guys out there with the LED package, you will have a very similar setup as far as lighting performance goes with the projector as well as the LED halo, but this will have a a little bit more as far as performance and functionality goes, as well as durability. Now, speaking of that halo, this is going to not only work as a daytime running light, but when you actuate your turn signal this will illuminate with a amber color and will function just as your turn signal does. So, this will have a wiring harness that is completely plug and play that goes into the wiring harness for your turn signal and your fender and will actuate the same way and at the same time as your headlight,, which is something that not a lot of other options on the page as well as not the options out of the factory have. And I personally really like that about this setup. So, enough about these two side by side, let's go and mount up our new headlight. So, now we can repeat that process on the other side starting by taking off our headlight. So, on the driver's side, it is gonna be a little bit different just because we don't have the battery as well as the fuse box here. We have a little bit more access down towards the inner fender liner. We do have this black box. This may be on some models and not on other models. What I'm gonna do is remove the two 10-millimeter bolts here so we can just wiggle this out of the way, and then we'll be able to access that turn signal fender plug. So, once those two mounting bolts are removed, we can just pop this little clip off this line here, kind of, wiggle this back and then your fender plug will be right underneath here. It may have another clip, ours was disconnected already, but you may just need to take a trim removal tool like we did with the other side and disconnect it from the body so you can access a little bit better. All right, so now that we have our plug accessible, what we can do now is just flip up that red tab and then we can disconnect the harness. Then we can plug it in our connector, move this wiring back and clean it up a little bit. You can zip tie this out of the way. You just wanna make sure that all this wiring is not on any components that are moving or hot. Good thing is you can actually disconnect those there. Again, just plug those into the corresponding color, then we can reinstall box here. You just take those two 10-millimeter bolts and just tighten them back into place. Now, again, what we would want to do at this point is just clean up the wiring, making sure that it's out of the way and then you're all set to go. What we are going to do at this point is mount our grille back up after we're all set with the headlights, just give it a good press into place and just secure those clips. All right, then we can secure our six pop clips up at the top. Then we can take these pop clips, secure them back into place. After your grille is secured, what we can do is close up the hood and then we'll be all set to go.So, that's gonna wrap it up for my review and install. Make sure you like and subscribe.
