Will it hold rifles in place on the trail? Showing that, would qualify this as a true review.

How far apart are the gun mount holders? Are they close enough together to hold something like a hatchet?

JorgeC

  • Thank you for your question! This bar itself is extendable from 42-48" inches and there are multiple points where you can clip in the mounts that would vary the length. However, since these are designed for the use of fire arms, I would not recommend it to hold a hatchet.

Is there any information about how or if this would be California compliant. CA has laws about how to transport.

LorinP

  • I would recommend checking with your local authorities regarding any of those California compliant laws.

How many key locks come with this gun rack??. How is the rack secured??. Is there a lock for each gun ??.

RonB

  • Hi! The RedRock 4x4 Quick-Draw Overhead Gun Rack for Tactical Weapons does not include keys, there are no locks, rack includes Velcro straps to secure the firearms in place. The rack fits between the sport bar, expand out until it's nice and tight, and stays in place.

Will this work in the JKU above the back seats instead of only the front seats?

Eddie

  • Looking at the install guide this should be able to install above the back seats of your JKU as well. The QUICK-DRAW OVERHEAD GUN RACK installs using the roll bars, so as long as their is enough room on the roll bars.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Quick-Draw Overhead Gun Rack for Tactical Weapons (87-17 Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

    Not Impressed

Product works great , quality of workmanship poor . There was sharp edges , weld splatter , and the coating was scratched . I was not impressed with the final product.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Quick-Draw Overhead Gun Rack for Tactical Weapons (87-17 Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

    Useful but not practical.....

The gun rack is not practical as an overhead gun carrier. The rack mounts too low between the crash bars making it likely you will wack your head on any weapons in the rack. I eventually mounted it between the crash bars behind the rear seat. It makes a useful general carry rack but "quick-draw" it is not.

    Great rack

I have a Noveske 300 Blackout and this rack works great. It has enough adjustments to fit just about any AR. I also have a M16, but have not tried it in the rack yet. Update to come.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Quick-Draw Overhead Gun Rack for Tactical Weapons (87-17 Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

    Will work as advertised

Based on the design of the 2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon it would be difficult to develop a better item and a location for a gun rack. Function: The function is as advertised and a rifle, shotgun, muzzle loader and AR will all fit well in the rack. It has a somewhat universal application for Jeeps. Fit: I would rate it 3.5 It’s a hard fit side to side as for a person of 6’ 0” if I were to hit a bump I will probably bang my head into the rack above me. With a hard top it is difficult to retrieve a gun out of the mount as the Velcro is pinned between the upper part of the mount and the roof top. If you put the mount in the back seat passengers could not ride in the back do to the low head clearance. It would also be difficult to retrieve a gun out of the mount. The actual mount up is good and I would rate it at 4.0 The rack is lightweight and well made. The appearance is good; I'd rate both quality and appearance at 4.5 out of 5.

great product a little noise but easy to get rid of

when I first put it in it rattled a little. I took it out and wrapped one wrap of electrical tape on the threads that were still inside the square tube and it is silent now. holds guns perfect!!

Review from RedRock 4x4 Quick-Draw Overhead Gun Rack for Tactical Weapons (87-17 Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

    Quick draw overhead gun rack

Installation is quick and easy. I chose to place it above and just behind the rear seat so it won't interfere with the Sundowner option when the soft top is in use. Tucks up nicely just below the roof and is hidden out of sight from the windows. Great addition for convienence and travel.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Quick-Draw Overhead Gun Rack for Tactical Weapons (87-17 Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

    Overhead rifle rack

So,,,, if your tall this cannot be used in the front of the vehicle. I hit my head on the rack,,, which sucked. I put the mount in the rear of the Jeep and turned the mount (padded sides) left to right and this allowd me to carry 4 rifles in an upright manner. This "sort-of" worked, but not the greatest. Two of these working together could hold 4 rifles well and secured. Would be a good alternative carry method.

Review from RedRock 4x4 Quick-Draw Overhead Gun Rack for Tactical Weapons (87-17 Wrangler YJ, TJ & JK)

    Not for Everyone

This product is average at best. It does hold weapons well but it hangs too low. Without adjustments you will spend time banging your head on it even when it is empty. With weapons it is worse. I'm 5'9 and I hit my head on it even after making some adjustments. They should really re-design this item.

    It's just ok

I hate rattles and even though i have this a tight as possible it still has a rattling noise. Also i wouldn't call this a quick-draw, it's anything but that if you have a passenger in your jeep. Plus if your average height like myself 5'11" you may have head room issues unless you mount this in the back
