    Video Review & Installation

I'm Ryan from and this is my review of the Gibson split rear axle back exhaust, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs. This exhaust is available in the black version that you see here, but it's also available aluminized, and also in a stainless. So, you have a couple of different options, depending on what your budget is and what quality you're looking for. There are a few different reasons you might want to add an axle back onto your jeep. The first and probably the most important to most of you guys is going to be sound. And the axle back will give you a lower, throatier note, but also some additional exhaust volume, especially at the higher RPM band. Another reason to swap out your factory exhaust for an axle back like this is if the factory exhaust was damaged off road. The positioning of the muffler and tail pipe from the factory does make it pretty easy to damage the exhaust system. And finally, a dual outlet system like this will give the Jeep a little bit more of a custom look from the back. And if you decide to go with the black version, you also get a bit of a stealthier look. So no matter what your reasoning is, this axle back from Gibson will do all of those things, and it'll keep the price down versus some of the top gear exhaust systems on the market. This system is built of two and a half inch mandrel bend tubing, which means that the bends are going to be the same diameter tubing as the straight sections, and the bends aren't going to cause additional restriction in the exhaust system. Now, this is internally baffled and chambered, but it doesn't have any internal packing to really give you that lower and louder exhaust note that a lot of you guys are after. The tips that come with this system are a four-inch tip, which are a little bit smaller than Gibson's Metal Mulisha five-inch tips, and in my opinion they match the styling of the Jeep a little bit better. Again, this system is offered in black that you see here, but it's also available in an aluminized steel and also a stainless steel. The stainless steel, of course, is gonna hold up the best over time and resist rust and corrosion, where the aluminized isn't going to do as good of a job at resisting the rust and corrosion, however it's gonna be less expensive. And then, the black coating gives you that attitude because it is black and it gives you that stealthy look, but also the coating on this black one will hold up very well over time. Getting a new axle back installed on your Jeep is a really simple process. The only issue you may run into is rust. While there's only one clamp you need to remove to get your factory system off of the Jeep, if that clamp is rusty it can cause some issues for you. So I definitely recommend spraying the clamp with a good penetrating oil well before you get started. Also, the rubber hangers that this system uses, which are the factory hangers on the Jeep, can be a little bit tough to remove from the factory system and to reinstall on your new system. So that's another area that a good penetrating oil or grease will definitely help this process along. So, from there you can use the included clamp to install the new system onto the tail pipe, attach it to the two factory exhaust hangers, and then bolt the tips into place. The whole process shouldn't take you more than an hour, but again, that will depend on how much rust you have. Gibson is known for giving you a great value. This system is a high quality system, it looks good, it'll definitely get the job done, but it's also going to come in less expensive than a lot of the other systems on the market. Granted, the stainless steel system is one of the more expensive. This black coating is also a little bit more expensive. But if you go with the aluminized exhaust, if you're not worried about a little bit of surface rusting or corrosion, you can save yourself a lot of money and you get a high quality axle back that sounds really good. So, no matter what your reasoning is for wanting to swap out the exhaust system on your Jeep, whether you've damaged your factory axle back, you're looking for a dual outlet or a black system for the attitude, or you just want more exhaust volume and a lower exhaust note, this Gibson system will check all of those boxes, and it does it at a fair price. So that's my review of the Gibson split rear axle back exhaust, fitting all 2007 to 2016 JKs, that you can find right here at
